Using IDrive for about 10 years and it's great
I have been using IDrive for about 10 years with 3 computers over that time and they are a great and dependable resource for backups and recovery. I am able to find old files easily and the simple interface is great. There are a few issues, however, for example, it's hard to change which folders are included in a backup once you've set one up using the desktop app on a Mac, but that's about it.
Not recommended
I signed up with the hope that I had found a really good hosting service but ended up canceling it after a few days with a bad feeling about the company.
I was planning to use it as a study base where I could upload my videos and watch the videos online, but the limitations set by idrive made it not possible for me to do so.
I uploaded one of my courses to the server and deleted it from my local hard drive. The upload went without any problem, but downloading it again turned into a nightmare as I only found a way to download it by single file transfers. Ended up deleting the course completely and lost the files. Worst hosting service I have been involved with.

Prices unilaterally increased every year
I've been a loyal customer since 2021, and I'm shocked by the recent, unjustified price hike from €6.95 (ok it was a promotion for the 1st year) to €79.50 (in 2022) to a staggering €121.39. Despite multiple attempts to contact customer service, I've received no explanation for this dramatic increase. I demand a clear explanation and immediate resolution to this issue. Otherwise, it means contracts have no value if companies can arbitrarily double or triple their service prices from one year to the next....

hello we have problem with this because…
Hello, we have a problem with this because the file sharing is limited to only 30 days, and this isn't working well for us. Now I have to change companies and re-upload all the files again... pffffffffffffffffff.

Great Customer Service
I had a issue where I was charged the wrong amount. They sorted it out really quickly, refunding the difference. Great customer service. Also been very happy with the actual online backup service - used it for several years now.
I would have like to give Idrive 0 stars
I got a paid storage plan with idrive.com. It worked well at first than i had problems after problems to fix it they wanted me to give them remote access's to my cloud files. I went with idrive as its End to End Encrypted if i have to give them access to my cloud files then what's the point of it being End to End Encrypted.

I deleted all my backup files…
I attempted to remove some old files and do some cleanup, but I ended up deleting all my backup files. The support staff was outstanding; they recovered all my files.
Mobile Version = Garbage!
Recently they started forcing mobile users to use a completely limited version! This is bizarre! They destroyed my workflow with this practice. The current mobile version, even when accessed from the browser (without the app), is garbage! It lacks many features found in the traditional version, accessed from a PC. Among the missing features, the one I miss the most is the option to set advanced settings for the shared links, such as defining the number of times a download can be accessed. This is a total lack of respect for the customer! How can you force users to use this awful mobile version?!

The service is really slow and missing data
The service is really slow, an upload of 20gb, in one service it takes me <10minutes and here between 40 and 100 minutes.
You contact them and as always, by chat they do not help you and the incident ticket they never respond. I have already +20 tickets without response.
Now, additionally, they have lost more than 100 backup files and they don't respond either.
A backup company losing data? No thanks
------
The worst part is when they respond to you:
- Could you tell us more details about what happened?
I have sent in the last 48 hours about 20 emails + 12 chats. If you still don't know what the problem is, this company should be closed, it is not a reliable company for backups.

Not as useful as it used to be.
Been a customer for a couple of years, but thinking of moving on. Site loads so slowly, and does not generate thumbnails of my files. This is a big inconvenience for me, as I work remotely around the world, and I cannot find the files and images I am looking for. Time to invest in something better.

Stay Away
I've been using iDrive for a few years. I've had the 'continuous data protection' setting active, which should backup changed files every 60 minutes but it rarely fires. So I run manual backups as and when.
Today, I have needed to restore a lost file, a Mind Map document, which is frequently updated. IDrive should have backed this up and kept snapshots of the file (previous versions) but it only has the original update going back over three years! This is utterly pants. Stay away from iDrive. You simply can’t rely on it.

IDrive doesn't notify when a backup is not made
IDrive needs to send an email warning when a backup is scheduled, but iDrive does not receive a backup. When IDrive implents this, I will change my rating to 5 stars.
IDrive only sends an email when a backup is completed, and there is an error. If a backup is scheduled but never made, no email is sent to warn that a backup was not made. IDrive doesn't see the need for this because they send an email every day, and if you don't receive an email, you should assume it didn't backup. The problem is "out of sight, out of mind."
I used IDrive for years, but when I finally had an SSD failure and logged into my IDrive account, I found that it stopped backing up 14 months earlier! IDrive support has no idea why. They insisted I must have uninstalled the IDrive app on my local machine. I would have done that only just prior to cutting my head off.
I had a local backup on a Western Digital Passport, but when I tried to access my files on that, it failed.
Fortunately, I backed up a mirror image with Acronis. Unfortunately, mirror image at Acronis also failed, due to a problem at Acronis! But, I was able to get my files from Acronis.

A Good Start
Just backed up my Express drive and sent it back for iDrive upload. Had to chat a few times with support regarding a few minor issues and was 100% satisfied with the tech team. All good so far and hoping for a successful backup experience. Thumbs up.
IDrive isn't worth it.
I've tried idrive, but it didn't work. It kept saying preparing over and over from 7am all way to 8pm, nothing was backing up. It got so annoying, I deleted my account and started looking for a new cloud backup service.

Just awful! Stay away.
Just awful! It backs up things when you don't want, doesn't restore things you do want. UI feels 100 years old. Awful customer service. I can't see one good reason to get it. Plus, they get you in with low prices but it's just the first year. Then you feel stuck because you've spent so long uploading stuff. It's almost a scam. @Just get google drive or something else.a
Reply: I've contacted support several times. Replies are slow and don't address my concerns. They link to a help article with nothing to do with my problem. It seems they don't even read my issue.

Exactly what I needed
Exactly what I needed. At the price I needed. So much space and so affordable. I can breathe again!
Clunky UI but seems reliable
I don't love the UI, but the service itself seems pretty decent, and a helpful sales rep pointed me to the most appropriate and cost-effective plan for my needs and helped refund part of plan that was far more than I needed. The backups seem to take place as they should--no technical problems thus far.
Good backup services for an affordable price
IDrive works very well and I could backup my current devices (Android, Windows11) successfully.
In the coming days I will start using the syncing of some files with the cloud drive. I hope this also will be a positive experience at an affordable cost. Look and see, but so far so good.
I have been charged $654 in overage…
I have been charged $654 in overage fees. I had automatic renewal enabled, which allowed the charges to increase gradually over the years. The most recent overage charge was for $654. I strongly advise against using this service. Please contact me to discuss this matter further. I have email evidence to support my claims. I had deleted all my data for fear of the charges being billed me daily, these can escalate. I am hoping for a full restitution of the charged amount. I am awaiting a response from the billing department regarding these excessive charges.
