Crap Toilet Seat and customer service!

" Having paid £280 for the Ideal standard waverley close WC pack, I expected a toilet seat that fitted. However, as confirmed by photos I sent to both Screwfix and customer service at Ideal Standard, the toilet seat doesn`t fit, and also came damaged (marks and scratches were evident on the cheap imitation mahogany when I took it out the box)!
Although I purchased the Ideal Standard WC pack from Screwfix, they informed me it`s up to Ideal Standard to resolve the issue.
Ideal Standard Customer service informed me that they have had several complaints from plumbers about the toilet seat not fitting properly, and so far as they are concerned it`s due to myself and the plumbers not fitting it properly!
When I pointed out that I have fitted lots of toilet seats in my 68 years, and infact only this week fitted one I had bought online for my other toilet, they insisted the fault was with me (and the many other plumbers) and not with the toilet seat they had supplied.
(The cheap mahogany effect toilet seat they supplied me with is similar to one selling on Amazon for £14.99, which also has dreadful reviews, whereby customers have complained about it not fitting properly, and screws and bolts falling apart within weeks)!
When you look on Trust Pilot about Ideal Standard, they have been allocated only 1.5 stars, with 80% of the 64 reviewers giving them only 1 star. Need we say anymore?
Not only are we very disappointed with Ideal Standard, but given that I`ve spent hundreds of pounds at Screwfix, I am also disappointed in their reluctance to help in any way, since they were more than happy to accept the £280.00 for the WC pack! "

Terrible customer service and does not…

Terrible customer service and does not honour warranty on faults that are their issues.
Bought a bath from ideal standard and there is a crack
I’m the inner fibre glass acrylic. The fitter says this is a manufacturing fault. This is supposed to be covered under ideal standards warranty and they have said that the crack is an impact fault caused by me. This bath has been fitted a month and used twice. I had to chase this matter for three months to get this conclusion. Disgusting customer service and will be escalating to an outside party.

£60 for a wing nut!

Very very expensive. I wanted to replace a small wing nut in the toilet seat fitting as one small wing nut but I had to order a complete set of fittings costing £60!!! Customer Services were so unhelpful and the reason why the cost was so so expensive was absolutely meaningless. In the end went out and purchased a new toilet seat at half the cost of what IS wanted to charge for replacement fittings.

I purchased the Ideal Standard Tempo…

I purchased the Ideal Standard Tempo 600mm Vanity Unit 2 Drawer E3240 White. To my surprise, the two drawer covers have split at the top and bottom of each drawer.
I contacted Ideal Standard, and they have said “we have heard back form the Quality team and they have determined that the damage is due to moisture ingress as such this would not be covered under the warranty.” I find it hard to accept that a cabinet intended use is within a bathroom would not withstand moisture.

I asked if, as a gesture of goodwill, could they supply two cover drawers at a discounted cost? Their reply was, (In regard to a replacement, as the manufacturer we do not sell direct to the customer and any small spare parts we do sell are not at retail prices as we are the manufacturer.)

The quality of Ideal Standard products are very poor avoid at all costs.

Standard Space Corner Unit Toilet Seat attachment

I bought an Ideal Standard Space Corner Toilet unit in 2010 complained in 2015 because the weld on the hinge had failed for the third time. I asked if it was possible to buy the single piece that had failed rather than the full 22 piece kit. The answer was no. In 2016 Ideal Standard sent me a replacement seat with the 22 piece attachment kit plus extra thick buffer pads, which it was claimed would solve the problem. Unfortunately the problem was not solved, and 4 replacement kits later, with cost rising from about 15 pounds to 50 pounds, I have again asked if the single part that fails can be supplied on it's own. Watch this space for the answer.

21/12/202
Would you believe it, Idea are working with their supplier on a fix for the design disaster of the welded seat attachment. In the meantime it is not commercially viable to supple the attachment except in the 50 pound 25 part kit. This 50 pound kit includes 2 plastic sleeves which are available separately for 4.65 pounds. Crazy economics maybe.

Three Hinges Rusted and Broke

Ideal Standard fittings are extremely poor quality. Advertised as stainless steel but in fact are low quality steel with a thin coat of chrome. All mine have rusted away within two years. Customer service are extremely rude and insist I must have used bleach or other cleaner, which is not true!
Will never but Ideal Standard again!

Ideal Standard Della close coupled toilet

We bought an Ideal Standard Della close coupled toilet from BandQ last year but only recently installed it as part of a house renovation project. It never flushes properly as the sump is too small. I now have to replace it. In my view there's a design fault which means it's not fit for purpose.

Ideal Standard Inferior Quality Products

Purchased an ideal standard shower tray from this company following a review on web. I paid a premium because I thought I was getting a superior quality brand. After receiving 3 faulty warped trays and weeks of wasted time and stress I have had to fit an inferior tray which is not fit for purpose. It has been fitted dead level with photographs to prove. But it does not drain and water needs to be mopped up. I spent a fortune having bathroom remodeled only for it to be let down by a company that is rebranding inferior products and selling them at a premium.

Bath has a design floor

Bath has a design floor, the support at the location where the 'P' shape joins the body of the bath can be over tightened and therefore cracks its top coating. When designing this type of connection they shouldn't supply it with a fixing long enough to cause this type of damage. They should either supply a shorter screw or washer headed fixing or stick a larger bit of wood to the bath, either one would prevent the likely hood of the screw every being able to damage the bath.

Bathroom units not for use in bathrooms

I bought a Tempo bathroom vanity unit in August 2020, unit fitted December 2020, by January 2021 the edging strips around the doors and carcass had started peeling off and the paint work started bubbling, also on one side where the internal shelf was fitted the screws had come through the outside causing the gloss finish to crack and come off.
I contacted Ideal Standard on Feb 15th and was told to send some photos showing the problems, after waiting 2 weeks i rang again and was told that it was still with quality control, 2 more weeks passed before I rang again, still with quality control.
Next day I had a reply, they put the problems down to me, I was letting moisture/water run down the unit and not wiping it dry, it was then running down the unit and getting behind the stick on edging.
I though a vanity unit with sink was designed for use in a bathroom and it was very difficult stopping moisture, even with the window open and extractor fan on, and yes I do wipe lots of moisture/water off of it.
I said that I couldn't find anything in Ideal Standards brochure saying you must not get moisture on them, perhaps they're not designed for bathrooms, and if they stick edging on units surely moisture/water will get behind it, took it out and bought another one with no stick on edging.

Extremely poor customer service

Bought two ideal standard rimless toilets, approximately £300 apiece. One had a missing flow restrictor; the other didn't. Plumbers fitted these. I contacted Ideal standard and basically got told that I hadn't looked properly and to try again. This was after chasing them as they did not reply to the first email. So I responded that it was still missing... silence—awful customer service. I won't be repurchasing another ideal standard product.

Ordered an 'Ivy' toilet and matching…

Ordered an 'Ivy' toilet and matching washbasin for our new cloakroom. We chose it based on looks not price and it seemed to be what we wanted. The basin had to be re-ordered twice through our suppliers. When they arrived there was either a glaze fault (very thin or bubbles in glaze and/or a moulding defect - one basin looked as if it had been 'sat on' before the clay had dried. There is most deffinitely NO quality control - or if there is the individuals concerned should be fired. It transpires that their items, along with other'brands' owned by the same company, are manufactured in the UAE by RAK ceramics - they themselves have a really poor reputation for quality. Nothing about the products is 'sharp' or accurate. All slightly 'rounded' poor/thin glaze. You could see daylight through the toilet u-bend when we were inspecting it for defects !! All products manufactured in vast quantities and sold cheaply (or not)... Thankfully we did not install any of the pieces ordered and have returned all items for a refund - avoid like the plague. Have now saved a bit more money and ordered a suite from Villeroy-Boch - not that much more expensive to be honest and as far as we could tell from the showroom, in a completely different league in terms of quality. Ideal standard are certainly NOT british made with quality in mind and in our opinion should be avoided at all costs.....

I’d leave zero stars if I could

I’d leave zero stars if I could.
Sold us either a faulty or extremely poor quality bath. We went for there better option idealform plus + but you can literally see right through it when the sun shines through the window. Sent proof of this to Wolseley our supplier who passed onto ideal. Neither of them could be bothered to get back to us or hold there hands up and admit its not right.
The bath panel feels as thick as the bath crazy!
Finally ideal email Wolseley after me chasing this many times they have said it is ok!...... (must be all the plumbers and other manufacturers at fault as you can’t see through there baths).
Wonder how they would feel if it was stuck in there bathroom!
Absolute rubbish no customer service..
Keep away buy any other brand it will be better quality if there saying this is the normal trust me.

Give one star as Customer Care Advisors…

Give one star as Customer Care Advisors did respond to several emails, however the advice given hasn’t solved the problem that the three Sandringham 21 toilets purchased in November all have sliding seats, the plastic hinges used not suitable for the job, had these items not been fixed they would have been returned, extremely disappointed with Armitage Shanks shoddy products and will not be purchasing anything else from them and advise others to look elsewhere.

Absolutely horrendous after care and a shoddy product

Absolutely horrendous after care.

We purchased a free standing bath from Ideal standard.

Shortly after it was fitted we discovered a crack in the top outer edge of the bath. We contacted Ideal Standard due to the 20 year warranty provid d with the bath. Initially we were told we had cracked it by leaning on it, which would have made the bath unfit for purpose, they since simply refused to assist and directed us to the trader. They would then not assist our trader either. We have had to have a fixed to the crack which is OK, but are now scared to use the bath as we have been told we shouldn't lean on it, which is the only way to get in and out of the bath, unless levitation can be achieved.

In addition to this the bath itself squeeks when you sit in it, making what should be a relaxing experience irritating.

Larger hole had to be drilled in bath to allow overflow to be fitted. Do NOT put bath taps down the end & then fit a folding shower screen. Cause you can’t turn the taps on or off or let the water out without physically standing in the bath !

We bought an ideal standard toilet…

We bought an ideal standard toilet E7998 about 6 years ago. For the past year the inner workings of the cistern have failed to work properly with water running all the time. Now it doesn't fill at all. We have unsuccessfully tried to have it repaired and now have been advised to buy a new toilet. The workings look like cheap rubbish, certainly not an ideal standard! Our other 2 bathrooms have working toilets despite being 34 years old. I think that says it all.
