I purchased a Hypnos Cambridge Deluxe small double mattress from Land of Beds. It was delivered well within the suggested time scale. The mattress itself appears to be well made and quite sturdy. W... See more

My mattress springs have broken leaving the bed unusable. The mattress is under warranty and they refuse to repair/replace.
Very poor quality and service considering the brand.

Two singles, still perfect
2014, bought 2 single mattresses and hideaway bases. 3 months later I was widowed. I slept on one single for the ten years and am now on the second single. They are still side by side. Very heavy mattress to flip and turn but manageable and I do it, short female age 78. Regency Clarence supreme, best mattress I ever had. I will be getting another hypnos in 7-8 years. The bases are excellent for storage and very strong
Broken springs are "Natural Wear & Tear"? Think twice about the 10-year guarantee.
I purchased my ‘Deluxe’ Hypnos mattress some time ago, and really didn’t think to much about the guarantee, assuming that I wouldn’t need it, but comforted by the fact that it was there should an unexpected problem arise. After a few years, my wife mentioned that a dip had appeared in the bed making it uncomfortable to sleep on. We were due to rotate the bed for the winter, so did this so that I could get a sense of the scale of the problem, which quickly became evident – it was indeed very uncomfortable and certainly not conducive to a good night’s sleep.
At this point, I assumed we would have to buy a new mattress, but before I set about exploring our options, I checked the paperwork and found, to my delight, that the mattress was sold with the 10-year guarantee that I had long since forgotten about. A quick call to the retailer who sold me the mattress led to a representative of a Company called Castelan being commissioned by Hypnos to carry out an independent inspection of the mattress in my home.
3 weeks after the inspection, I contacted the retailer who explained that my warranty claim had been unsuccessful, as the fault had been deemed as ‘Natural Wear and Tear’. He emailed me a copy of the report, and in light of the rejection I was very surprised to read that the inspector had stated, and I quote “ONE AREA OF INNER SPRINGS ARE BROKEN CAUSING LARGE HOLLOW AND DIP - ALL OTHER AREAS ARE FINE AND FULLY SUPPORTIVE”.
Now, I’m no expert in the field of mattresses and the guarantees offered, but really do fail to understand how the clearly stated issue of “ONE AREA OF INNER SPRINGS ARE BROKEN CAUSING LARGE HOLLOW AND DIP” can be deemed natural wear and tear. The springs have broken – surely it’s not unreasonable to expect one of the most important components of a mattress to remain intact for the period of the guarantee of a mattress that is slept on by 2 adults with a combined weight of no more than 26 stone.
Given my negative experience, and that of others who have reported similar disappointing responses from Hypnos – should the Board of Directors ever get a chance to read some of these reviews, may I suggest to them that they remove the 10 year guarantee, and replace it with a term more in keeping with what their customers can expect to achieve from the life of a Hypnos mattress – be that 2, 3 or perhaps 5 years.
I realise that a 10-year guarantee offers a very tempting Marketing Tool, but the benefits of that tool are, I believe, outweighed by the negative implications of your often unreasonable warranty rejections - 3,252 reviews (to date) and 22% are 1-star - surely you can see, this is not a great reflection of your Company and its products.
I am really disappointed with my Hypnos…
I am really disappointed with my Hypnos bed. The guarantee means absolutely nothing. I bought a Hypnos divan in 2020 complete with mattress. Last year it started creaking and I thought it was the mattress so I ordered a new one and it was delivered in December 2025.The creaking continued so I contacted Land of Beds (the retailer) and they contacted Hypnos and a claims inspector came out. It was concluded that it was the staples come loose that was causing it but the report later received that it was not a manufacturer fault and that the creaking was considered consistent with normal wear and tear and that it was not a defect and there would be some creaking. The creaking on my bed frame was not just slight creaking. I have since had a carpenter to rectify the fault and he has knocked the staples back in that were protruding and also some new staples where required. The creaking has now gone. I cannot fault Land of Beds, they were absolutely brilliant and prompt in dealing with the matter but I am appalled at Hypnos. Neither me nor my husband were ever overweight and so I do not think that the staples should have come loose and certainly not in that short time.
I will never use Hypnos again and certainly would not recommend them.
Don't buy a Hypnos mattress
My wife and I bought a Hypnos mattress in feb 2023. After a few years we noticed that the sides we slept on had sunk considerably (4-5"), leaving a noticeable mound in the middle of the mattress.
We believed we had no problem as the mattress came with a 10 year warranty. However, Hypnos refused to recognise this and stated that their (not so independent third party, Castelan Group) said it was within manufacturers expectations!
I very rarely complain, but if you're reading this DO NOT BUY a Hypnos mattress as they're poor quality and the warranties are meaningless!
Best decision I’ve ever made
Buying this mattress was the best decision I’ve ever made. The improvement in my sleep was immediate, but I’m now a couple of months in and it’s genuinely improved my quality of life due to getting proper rest.
I bought the Hypnos natural luxury mattress (medium firm). I like a firm mattress but change sleeping positions so needed something firm but not too hard. This was perfect for me.
Can’t recommend enough!

I originally was set on a Vispring mattress/bed, even before trying. After trying both the Vispring and the Hypnos Grandeur instore, I was completely taken back! My choice was the Hypnos. For overall comfort, construction, looks, etc. Three months down, I am very pleased with my choice!
Exceptionally comfortable
Our Hypnos mattress is exceptionally comfortable and has enabled us both to have refreshing and undisturbed sleep. I wish we had have bought a Hypnos mattress years ago!

Really enjoying my Firm King-size mattress. It's been 2 months and I got used to my new mattress in no time. I find it comfortable. Product itself seems to be of very good quality and I'm happy that it is made in the UK.

Poor quality mattress and aftercare
We bought the Hypnos Superb Pillow mattress along with a headboard and base from John Lewis in 2020. It came with a 10 year manufacturers Guarantee that has proven to be useless. After only having the mattress around 3 months I noticed that it was dipping. My weight is 55 kilos! At this time we were only using the bed around 3 months a year and mostly just for my use as my husband worked abroad. After 5 years we are now both using the bed full time and sleep an average amount of time each night. The mattress now looks like it has creators and dipping on each side of the bed making a ridge along the middle. I contacted customer care at John Lewis. They then notified me that the Hypnos company would be sending someone out to test the mattress. This was done and the results that were sent to Hypnos stated that my husband and I need to change our sleeping pattern to avoid further sagging of the mattress. Tell me who buys a mattress that needs to have a nurtured sleeping pattern. After paying so much money for what I thought would be a good quality mattress to say I am disappointed is an understatement. When trying to give a review on the John Lewis platform I notice that this mattress it is no longer available.

Good practical advice
It seems extreme to say a mattress is…
It seems extreme to say a mattress is life changing. But in this case it is. Months of pain and physio and just needed a new mattress.
Tried many mattresses and opted for a Hypnos firm orthopaedic mattress. So comfortable. And my bad back has improved incredibly. Great buy. Really pleased with it.
As it’s an investment I did read the care and maintenance booklet. And my only misgiving is the advice is not to sit on the edge of the mattress. Seems a bit impractical to follow.
