Reference Safety Recall
Reference Safety Recall: NHTSA campaign number: 24V146; Hyundai’s recall: TRUNK LATCH BASE REPLACE (24-01-025H). Hyundai has recalled over 186,000 2015 and 2016 Elantras for Emergency Trunk Latches. I have two such cars that need to be serviced.
On May 8, 2024, I made an appointment for above recall services for May 21, 2024. I was told after arriving for appointment that the part could not be ordered until the customer presented to the service department and that they required customers return to have the service completed. I was instead given a 21-point estimate of required immediate attention work totaling $1,040.64. One of the items on this list was a required alignment noting Tires - Damage/Abnormal Wear. The four tires on my car were purchased from Discount Tires on 4/23/24 and the alignment was done at NTB on 05/01/24. So obviously, this was fraud.
On May 29, 2024, I took my car to be serviced for the recall at North Freeway Hyundai and was informed upon arrival that I was put on a DO NOT SERVICE LIST at the three dealerships owned by Mr. Paul Peebles. This decision was made by the General Manager, John Kay at Humble Hyundai and the Service Director, Tim Shipe because they state that I became irate on May 21, 24 when my vehicle was not serviced at my scheduled appointment.
This is a safety recall and one which these individuals are not addressing as required by federal regulations. They have no regard for customer's safety, time or money.
