A Middle Class Fortress
Sorry to say, but the different organisations that are linked underneath the umbrella of 'humanism' seem to be defensively middle-class and unwelcoming towards working class people. The dynamic is a dinner party that one is not invited to. Ironic too considering that the poor are easy prey for Christian and Catholic based organisations to take advantage of.
I'd like to see something radically new and different instead - something that doesn't discriminate along class lines and doesn't separate atheists from agnostics. There's a need for non-churches - buildings for non-believers to congregate in, sing in, celebrate in and foster a community spirit in outside of religion. What could these non-churches be called?
