Been emailing the support line for almost 2 weeks with no response - just automated email replies, emailed the address in their own company profileConsistent issues with their shower products so not surprised the support line appears to be the same standard.

Leak on £300 shower mixer after 22…

Leak on £300 shower mixer after 22 months, have emailed regarding the "guarantee"
Told its only for 12 months, not 20 years as advertised. Mentioned sales of goods act, which gives 24 months, and they are having none of it

Avoid this company. Not worth the price and the quality is terrible

Chrome surface defect

Similarly to another reviewer here the chrome on my topaz mixer tap has blistered or lifted on the handles after 3 years. Hudson Reed have decided the 3 years of cleaning with soap and water and an occasional use of a chrome friendly cleaner, is the reason the chrome surface has lifted and will not replace the tap. I personally think it is a patch of chrome which is too thin or not properly applied. Either way if you buy a Hudson Reed Topaz tap you will be replacing it in 3 years and the 20 year guarantee sold with it will be invalid. Invest your money in something else.

Have contacted them directly again as they've suggested in their reply here and heard nothing back after 3 weeks.

Faulty shower screen glass

Ordered a shower screen of theirs. It shattered on installation despite careful handling. Clearly a fault in the glass toughening process. They refused to take any responsibility. In retrospect, I found other reviews that experienced the same. Avoid if you want quality bathroom products.

I telephoned to ask how to repair a shower control

I telephoned to ask how to repair a shower mixer handle that had come loose. In a little over 5 minutes Josh had diagnosed the problem and told me how to fix it myself. Excellent customer service.

Dear HR Customer Service Team,
I have been a loyal customer of HR Products for 19 years, consistently satisfied with your customer service until my recent experience. I purchased bathroom taps from an online retailer, only to find the product appeared to be a box of spare parts rather than the complete item I ordered.
When I contacted HR to purchase the correct parts—not requesting them for free—I was met with unhelpful responses and delays. After three days and multiple emails, I was asked to provide proof of purchase, which unnecessarily prolonged the process. Frustrated by the lack of urgency and poor communication, I gave up and sourced the necessary parts (olives) from a plumbing merchant instead.
This experience was highly disappointing, especially given my long history with your brand. I urge you to address these customer service shortcomings to prevent others from facing similar issues. I am reconsidering my loyalty to HR Products and may return to competitors like Bristan unless this is resolved.

Warranty - take care

Purchased 4 Hudson Reed Tec Single Lever Side Action Cloakroom Basin Mixer Taps several years ago. Of the 4 taps, 2 developed chrome blistering on the handles (in all other respects, remained as new). As the taps came with a (supposed!!) 20 year guarantee, I reached out to the Company to see if they would replace. As the taps were otherwise perfect, I only needed the handle sections.
After many, many Emails, pictures and jumping through hoops, Hudson Reed, whilst admitting that the problem would be covered under warranty, would not even contemplate replacing without proof of purchase.
I believe that good customer service is absolutely key to returning customers and that Hudson Reed have shown no pragmatism at all in this instance. If I had been asking for completely new taps, I could understand the position to an extent, but how many people would still have any form of proof of purchase years later? The warranty is all but a meaningless 'gimmick'.
It should not have been necessary to resort to writing (poor) reviews for a situation that could have so easily been a very positive experience.
To Hudson Reed, please do consider this case carefully when dealing with others in the future.

The particular tap model you own first went into production 25 years ago. In your original email, you mentioned that it was purchased in 2011. At the time of purchase, the product was indeed supplied with a 20-year guarantee against manufacturing defects.
As indicated in your email and reviews, we are more than willing to honour this guarantee. However, as with any guarantee claim made through a retailer or manufacturer, we will first need to receive a copy of the proof of purchase before proceeding. Many thanks.

Manufacturer Admits Pivot Shower Door is Not Guaranteed Waterproof

Potential buyers should be aware of Hudson Reed's official stance on their shower enclosures, as revealed through a dispute with a seller.

After a professionally installed Hudson Reed pivot shower door leaked significantly, their technical department confirmed the installation was correct. However, they informed the seller that their shower doors are "not guaranteed to be water proof" and refused to acknowledge it as a fault.

This is not an issue with a specific unit, but an apparent design philosophy. A shower door that is not designed to contain water during normal use is fundamentally not fit for purpose.

I strongly caution anyone to reconsider purchasing a Hudson Reed shower enclosure. If you proceed, do so with the understanding that the manufacturer does not stand behind the core function of the product and will not support you if it fails.
I have been asked to provide my names, order number and contact details a few days now but no response so far. Hence this following up revised version.

"Thank you for your response.

To clarify for potential customers, the 'solution' offered was a final refusal. Your technical department, via the retailer, stated two key things:

The Shower Door: You officially declared it is 'a deflector and not a fully waterproof barrier' and 'can never be fully water tight.'

The Fixed Panel: You explicitly contrasted this with the fixed side panel, which you confirmed 'will [be water tight].'

This is a clear admission that the product is not designed to be fully functional. You are selling a shower enclosure where the door—a critical component—is not intended to contain water.

The only 'solutions' offered were for me to try to 'pull the seal down' or personally source a 'larger seal.' After spending over £520, this is unacceptable.

This review stands as a warning: Hudson Reed officially states that their shower doors are not designed to be waterproof."

Two year old HR shower has stopped… AVOID HR

Two year old HR shower has stopped flowing. Quick response from HR saying that we need a new valve if recalibration didn’t work , but this part isn’t under the 20 year guarantee.
We replied to HR after plumber had recalibrated but no further response from them. I had to replace the valve at my own expense. The shower has only been used a couple of time a week by myself when i don't go to the gym. They said it could be caused by hard water .. but I live in Devon! - The support people just cut and paste responses - they even sent me the warranty document that said the cartridge isn't covered - this seems very mean spirited given the very very light use in just 2 years and our soft water supply. Reading some of the other negative reviews, this isn't an isolated occurrence. Very tight response given the initial cost and projected 'quality'

Do not be fooled by their 20 year warranty... update - see their following cut and paste response- shocking that they plaster 20 year warranty over the advertising ! The majority of reviews are 1 star - if you filter these, the theme is very clear. AVOID!!!

Couldn't be better!

I needed to track down a spare part for a customer who purchased a shower screen 3 years ago. I was expecting this would be the usual headache it can often be with some suppliers but Millie was a star and took all the difficulty out of it for me. Working with others in the spares dept. Do not buy Hudson Reed thermostatic showers. The warranty is a scam as they do not want to know when things go wrong within the so called 20 year warranty.

The valve is not reaching the temperature. This is a known problem but Hudson and Reed will just try to fob you off.

Amazing service

Amazing service, bought a toilet frame that our plumber installed but managed to damage the flush plate rods! Contacted customer service who managed to find spares and post them out. 😀

15 year warranty is not worth the paper it’s written on.

I’ve always been a fan of Hudson Reed. Historically, their products have been great quality and I love the ‘hallmarking’ with the HR, which to me always illustrates they have trust in their products.

So, as a disabled person having to replace two baths with showers, I did a LOT of research on the best quality we could afford. After chatting with Hudson Reed’s sales staff, two suppliers and our plumber, I bought two Indus twin valve showers with a 15 year warranty on each. I thought we were safe from future plumbing bills!

After not quite four years, the first one - installed August/Sept 2021 - has failed to heat up, so our plumber diagnosed the thermostatic valve and advised we contact HR given the warranty.

I contacted HR customer services & was told the warranty ‘applied against manufacturing defects only, moving parts including handles and cartridges, which are affected by things out side of our control, are only covered by a 12 month warranty’.

Honestly, I feel duped. Manufacturing defects will most likely come to light at the start, not after 15 years, and given the guarantee excludes every moving part/handle etc. it renders it effectively worthless. Dishonest advertising of guarantee cover and falling back on ‘small print’ should be illegal, but sadly this is the game HR play.

I’m SO disappointed, I can’t tell you. I thought I’d found a brand I could rely on and advocate for with friends doing their bathrooms. That’s definitely not the case now.

If this shower is not repairable, then I’ll be buying a replacement elsewhere. I hope other customers read these reviews before parting with their cash! :(

PS. I’ve just heard HR don’t hallmark any more either. Read into that what you will.

We offer market-leading guarantees against manufacturing defects for all products when used in normal domestic applications (excluding instances of neglect or misuse), provided they have been maintained in accordance with our care instructions. Serviceable and moving parts are subject to normal wear and tear and are therefore covered for 12 months from the date of purchase.

Please note that internal components, such as cartridges, may be affected by factors outside of the manufacturer's control. For example, in hard water areas, limescale buildup can impair the function of internal parts. This issue is typically resolved by removing and cleaning the cartridge, followed by running a calibration (reset) process.

Similarly, changes to your plumbing system—such as the installation of a new boiler, alterations to your water system, or work on the mains—can impact the performance of your shower. In the majority of cases, this can be resolved by running the calibration procedure.

We had to replace a bath mixer tap that we bought a few years ago. When it arrived we thought it was a knock off because it is not branded, unlike the original (neither is the paperwork) and the shower head in particular is really poor quality in comparison to the original. Furthermore, the code on the heat and plumb order said HR, it was blank on the one we received . I’ve been assured that it is real by Heat and Plumb, and that Hudson Reed don’t hallmark anymore - if that’s correct, it’s disappointing from a company that you expect better quality from.
