we have used hudsons 3 times. all work have been excellent.
Hudsons have been an absolute nightmare. They were responsible for the plumbing work in our major renovation, and we moved back into our home in December 2023. Since then, we have had three separate leaks—including one in January 2024 that led to extensive damage. These leaks were due to fittings not being tightened or checked at all. In one incident, the water connection to our ice maker literally blew off; had our electrician not been on-site, the flooding could have been catastrophic. If we’d been away on holiday, our entire home might’ve been destroyed. The lounge and kitchen were completely flooded, causing extensive damage including ruining a large oak floor. Another leak wrecked the utility room—both areas had to be redone.
They made excuses, at one point claiming they were going through a subcontractor’s insurance, even though our contract is with Hudsons, not a subcontractor. Despite saying this back in May 2024, nothing ever materialized, and we are now in March 2025 with no real progress. The oak floor was eventually replaced at the end of 2024, but the other remedial works they attempted were of such poor quality that they need to be redone, and they left our house in a complete mess while carrying these out.
We’ve already spent over £10k of our own money just to fix damage they originally agreed to cover. Now they claim it’s in the hands of their insurers—from whom we’ve never heard—and they’ve been saying this for a year! They have also failed to address or investigate other faults in their installation, particularly the drainage, leaving our house smelling like a sewer.
On top of that, while attempting to complete some of the works, Hudsons left our house in a complete mess, covered in dust, and failed to protect brand-new appliances or seal off work areas. We ended up having to spend extra time and money cleaning up. Despite admitting liability, they’ve failed to follow through on their promises, shown zero empathy, and still haven’t completed urgent repairs.
After months of frustration, we’ve had to instruct lawyers to recover our costs as we are having to get the works completed ourselves. If you value your home and your peace of mind, avoid Hudsons at all costs.
Cabot Thermals Ltd have been using Hudson Plumbing for in-house plumbing and boiler fitting and Decontamination Unit maintenance for the past 12 years. They have always been reliable and reasonably priced. We can highly recommend them.
Many thanks to Paul, Andy and Joel for there work on installing a new boiler and 3 new radiators, from the moment we called Hudson plumbing the service was excellent, very clean and tidy work and workmen. We would highly recommend them. Paul&Sarah.
All seemed well. Fitted new boiler as planned and switched old Aga for new cooker. Fuss-free. Said they'd finished. Invoiced. We stupidly paid. Then found half the bedroom radiators no longer working (were fine before). This is common they said when move to pressured system. Didn't warn us, didn't check. Now they have almost £5000 of our money and they won't come out to fix. Kept promising then didn't come. Now say only doing emergencies because of COVID. Lousy aftercare and dishonest. Avoid.
