Good service

Very helpful staff

It pains me to write this review but, having ordered a "top of the range" "true in frame" Ilfracombe kitchen in October, it's now March and we still don't have everything required to complete the kitchen and have had so many mistakes, wrong items delivered, items missing or not ordered, wrong sizes, wrong colours and broken promises I've lost count.

I ordered for a kitchen, utility, kitchenette, boot-room and wardrobe so we're not talking a small order or amount of money but there have been so many issues and they're still ongoing.

The staff try and be helpful and our salesman is nice enough but I've come to the end of my tether with his mistakes, the latest one being delivery of doors that are the wrong size that we waited three months for as they weren't identified properly and sat in the warehouse since December.

Also, the Ilfracombe kitchen itself is advertised as "true in frame" and comes at a price premium, but I would guess that maybe only 40% of the units are actually in-frame (draws and a few cupboards) but a large percentage is still faux-in-frame, even on units that should be (e.g. Oven Housing).

At the behest of the salesman I rushed the order through in October to help them meet their targets, I just wish the same level of urgency and rigour had been applied to get me the correct units I need to complete the kitchen.

The staff at the Orpington branch went above and beyond to help remedy a situation that a cowboy builder left an elderly couple in.

I found the staff extremely knowledgeable, efficient and helpful . I was shown different samples and any questions I had were answered . The kitchen design unit was amazing especially being able to see how your kitchen will look . Being able to see how the finished article will look with added helpful suggestions of how you may achieve what you are looking for. I had previously bought a Howdens kitchen in my last house so I already knew how good their products are. I would have no hesitation in using Howdens Orpington again .

I had a wonderful experience with the Howdens Branch in Orpington. I dealt with Amanda Kiri, she came out to my home did a kitchen design and patiently explained the process to me with recommendations and examples, i received my quote very quickly and I arranged the visit to the branch with her to see samples of what I picked. Amanda was patient kind and with no hesitation assisted me with my many changes. I felt really comfortable and I was able to freely consider and change my options without being pressured to go ahead. I highly recommend Amanda at Howdens, and thank you Amanda for everything you have done, you made what i felt would be an overwhelming project very smooth. Many thanks Dana

The wife & I last year decided to completely remodel our kitchen (walls down, ceilings down, floors up, rerouted plumbing and electrics etc) and asked our builder of the last 20 years where he would recommend we look. He explained that in terms of quality, price & service he had always used Howdens and although he would fit a Kitchen from any supplier of our choice that's what he would do. He recommended that we speak to James Carpenter at the Orpington branch and so we went along for an initial discussion where we were able to look at styles, colours and other options. James & his manager Glen Westgate followed this up with a meeting at our property where they were able to get a better idea of the space available, high level ideas of the kitchen plan and some specific requirements about appliances, sinks, storage etc. James asked lots of questions, went away and produced a plan with virtual images of how the new kitchen would look from different viewpoints. These were great as they allowed us to really understand what would work for us and the changes we needed to make. We had an ongoing dialogue via email & phone to address changes and spent a couple of hours with James at Howdens' offices to sort out the final details. The communication was excellent and at every stage we were provided with revised images which made it clear what we could expect. James even accomodated a very late change for a wine/beer cooler when the wife told me that I wasn't allowed to put beer in her new fridge ! We were advised of what we were spending throughout our changes and our final Howdens price was significantly cheaper than some of the high level quotes we'd had from their competitors. On commencement of the build, the Howdens plans and images were "mounted" on the window and used by all contractors involved in the project. Now that the project is complete it is incredible to see how James' designs and the actual pictures compare (give or take a few plant pots and the garden furniture you can see out of the window) The units, fittings & appliances are quality and what few issues we've had have been addressed by James & Glen without any fuss. What really matters is that the wife loves her new Kitchen. Many thanks James & Glen - We're both so grateful for the positive experience we've had with Howdens Orpington and would not hesitate in recommending you and your team there to others.
