I ordered a kitchen form Howdens in November 2025 via Dundee Depot. Whilst the kitchen came as expected and the quality is good; the issues came from the poor planning from the designer. He made several mistakes including basics like leaving the under cupboard and plinth lights off the order. He also failed to notice several issues such as the fact we could not get a breakfast bar installed because of a radiator, that an integrated washing machine would not fit due to pipes and that the splash backs would leave an obvious join over the cooker at eye level. Their customer services at head office are a disgrace. My complaint took weeks to even move one stage, they ignored my emails repeatedly and I had had to issue a letter before action before they eventually concluded the complaint. They sent wrong items with the order, sent wrong sizes and couldn’t even arrange collection of refunded goods in a timely manner. The whole experience was farcical. Depot staff were inexperienced; management were flippant and head office pointless. I spent £15,000 with Howdens and wish I had gone elsewhere. Even the £2600 returned didn’t make up for their farcical approach to a complaint. Do NOT expect support once that money changes hand.

Anti fingerprint technology on doors do not work having to replace after a year as so awful no communication once they take you’re money Avoid

Had to simply give up trying to get a further 2 door sets to match 5 I had already bought from a sister branch in order to complete my own home renovation project.
Despite the the sales rep visiting my house and seeing their fitted doors for themselves, and me helping by providing receipts for my previous purchase of their doors....still no joy.
I appreciate the door no longer comes as a complete kit (complete kit is now apparently discontinued) but the individual components are all still available, just possibly with new codes for the individual items, however despite 1 visit to my house, 2 incorrect quotes provided by the estimator, 1 phone call made by myself, one visit into the store (where again, just like the Cupar store, staff perfectly happy to just keep you standing about for ever rather than just saying leave it with us, we'll get to the bottom of this and give you a call. I 've just worked out this has cost me over £80 in wasted time due to this appalling customer service.
Never have I been dragged around in circles so much trying to resolve getting the right product ordered where the onus is entirely put on me and being made to feel stupid in the process.
They are also quite happy to chase up orders for expensive kitchens with little regard for unresolved details and will quite happily sell you a kitchen requiring splices in worktops / corner trims etc
Lack of product knowledge and poor customer service a problem with Howdens
Also product quality is an issue. Most of my previous doors required to be returned (again all at my expense) due to damage.

I have dealt with Howdens for twenty years, and have always found them to be very helpful and trustworthy. My only complaint is pricing there are becoming out of touch with the likes of B And Q wickes etc but will match prices if pushed, give your best price right off the bat it would make clinching jobs for tradesmen simpler.
