A Complete Scam - Threatening & Abysmal Service

This company is a total scam. They repeatedly fail to show up, perform abysmal work, and then use bullying and threatening tactics to demand payment for services they never completed. The owner is abusive and untrustworthy. Avoid at all costs.

Few niggles to fix, but overall, it was fine.

Booked in for a clean every other week. Clean was ok. Second week we had the cleaner turn up at 8:30 for a 10 am clean and then left half an hour early. Invoices bank details incorrect, so was chased for a payment I had made to the invoices account.

Fine service, but a few bumps along the way which made us cancel future works. Won't use again unfortunately, it's a shame because we did use them for a deep clean a couple years back and had no issue.

Con artists

Con artists, do not use. Awful service that lets you down repeatedly then ghosts you, does very little of the proposed deep clean work to not even a basic surface clean standard as they arrive so late then spend most of their time smoking, then threatens with lying and bullying tactics demanding to be paid in full for a full deep clean of the whole house when even by their own admission it was never ever done!

Two of their "Cleaners" unlawfully entered my house a week later without my knowledge or permission (trespassing) as part of their extortive demands to be paid for work they did not do even by their own admission and an expensive watch went missing during that visit! I have proof of this trespassing on video. They then accosted my autistic child in the house, frightening them by their unannounced trespassing there, and verbally assaulting them when I was not there (also on video), twisting words trying to trick my very vulnerable kid to say something not true to seek to pretend they had done the work even though the evidence already showed they had not shown up and ghosted me after 3 let downs so I had to get another cleaner in to do the work that they should have! Disgusting manipulation that did not work but did frighten my kid.

Presumably they thought they could get away with this as I was very unwell at the time and my kid is disabled and they thought - wrongly as it turned out - I would therefore cave in. I stood up to them though. The kind of scum that zone in on their prey by their illness, age or any other assessed vulnerability are the very worst Bristol has to offer. But it appears by these reviews they could be equal opportunities grifters and target anyone dumb enough to use them.

I refused to give in to them. The first part of them scam was conducted with such fluency particularly by House Cleans "cleaner" and alleged partner, Katie Green, that I had little doubt at the time, and zero doubt now, that she has done similar before to others using similar tricks. She lies and manipulates fluently. But the company director also tried to bully me to pay so they are in it together, even though he knew Katie had never done the work he demanded paid for, and she had lied to me and let me down several times in a row. He also turns out to be an unrepentant liar saying anything to get cash he knows he is not entitled to. Has no intention to honour his so-called satisfaction guarantee over and above the basic expectations one has of any normal cleaner and threatens with court to get money he knows is not due. Also very abusive. He retaliated for my honest bad review of him and his company by posting personal info about me with even more lies in an attempt to intimidate me and therefore has broken GDPR rules.

I fought House Cleans and Bristol court ruled against them in March 2025 (Director Andrew Moore perjured himself there repeatedly and could not even keep his own story straight. It is not just his cleaners that are not to be trusted... )

It should also be noted House Cleans Ltd breaks company law and GDPR rules in other areas than false advertising. The company break the law and cannot be trusted on any level. Let alone to do a good job of cleaning!

The sooner Trading Standards put these sharks out of business, the better. I urge any other victims or potential victims of Andrew Moore, Katie Green, and House Cleans / House Cleans Ltd to stand up to any bull and come forward and report them to Trading Standards and the Police where relevant.

I would avoid this company at all…

I would avoid this company at all costs.

After two attempts they failed to even turn up. An extremely poor excuse both times. Avoid at all costs. I wouldn't even dream of parting with any money for this company.

Shocking service and complete con artists - avoid at all costs

We employed Housecleans for a full deep clean including carpets and oven cleaning at a cost of £250.00 prior to moving into our new home. We were away that evening so asked the cleaners to post the key through the letter box when completed and we didn’t return till the following day.

We made the mistake of making payment before inspecting the ‘work’ - the quality of work was absolutely abysmal with vast majority of areas completely uncleaned including bathroom. Dust everywhere, surfaces not even wiped, oven partially cleaned but a poor standard. Was some evidence of attempted carpet cleaning but result again below par.

Very disappointing and result was we had to delay moving into new house as we had to fully clean ourselves.

Owner Andy was uncontactable on the Sunday dispute multiple attempts. The cleaner offered to come back at some stage the following week which was completely unsuitable to us and they refused to offer any meaningful compensation- an offer of £40 was offered after sending 65 images of uncleaned areas which we refused considering this insulting.

Fundamentally fraud as we didn’t receive the service we paid for, shockingly poor and incompetent. Please avoid at all costs - I wish I had read the reviews on here before booking!

We will be reporting to Mastercard as fraud and pursuing via small claims court out of principle (costing us more money).

This company is a complete scam - please be warned.

Edit as response to owners reply on 27/12/24
-
As clearly stated above - we were away when the ‘cleaners’ finished so made payment in advance of inspecting work assuming the company would actually do what they were paid to do.

Correct - payment was made by transfer and we have contacted the bank/payment provider to report fraud (we paid for work and didn’t receive it).

You didn’t even respond for over 24 hours after multiple calls/texts nor comment on the 50 + photos of abysmal state your ‘cleaners’ left property in.

As stated above - this was a clean before we moved in so we couldn’t pause the house move and wait for you to come back (offered sometime the following week).

All the other reviews on here replicate the terrible experience we had - we requested a full refund because you didn’t do the work you were paid for - end of story.

Shame that you feel continuing to rip off the general public can be called a ‘family business’ - this is a very short lived strategy.

Appalling response again trying to blame the customer when your ‘cleaners’ failed to do the work you were paid for - shocking.

We used House Cleans for weekly…

We used House Cleans for weekly cleaning and then they did an end of tenancy clean before we moved back to Belgium. We always
found our regular cleaner to be excellent. Her attention to detail was amazing, our house always looked so clean after each clean.
For the end of tenancy, we also had our oven cleaned and the carpets were shampooed. All done to a great quality. Our landlord
was happy when he inspected the property.

We used Housecleans’s for a move out…

We used Housecleans’s for a move out clean. They came and cleaned for 4 hours, a team of two.
They worked really hard. They allowed us to inspect everything before they left. The landlord also checked everything and was happy.
We will more than likely use them again when I leave our current property.

Felt let down, by the company.

Booked for a deep house clean the day before moving into new house.

Once I had moved into the house, the day after the deep clean. I noticed cob webs left all around house, dust over work tops, dead spiders on floor, light fitting full of dust and kitchen cupboard left dirty. Which meant I had to reclean the house.

Owner of company stopped responding to my email, to try and fix the issues.
I am now having to take company to court to try and get a partial refund due to service not being fully completed.

After the reply from this company saying my review was fake.
I can confirm the date of work was 31st July.
I had a contractor called kate and the owner of the company is andy moore.
I have sent many emails and I have also sent a letter of action, I have had no response. The only time he has responded was this review, were is saying it's a fake review. I have photo evidence and a email chain, of the complaint and work done.

This company is a scam and should be closed down.

Andy should spend less time responding and saying reviews are fake and more time investing in customer satisfaction.

Unreliable company

Booked an end of tenancy carpet clean 3 weeks in advance, the job was cancelled 10 minutes before the cleaner was due to arrive. (Cleaner apparently had a bad back but knew immediately that she would be able to work the next day!) This was too late for me as tenants were moving in then and meant they had to move in without the work being done. Would never book a job with them again, very unreliable company which cause me a lot of stress and embarrassment.

Highly disappointed with the service…

Highly disappointed with the service from this company. We had them clean three times and each time was below average. However, the biggest issue was that they left black marks along all our skirting where they dragged the metal hoover nozzle. We have only just finished renovating and the paint was completed (perfectly) a week before they came to clean.

Everyone makes mistakes and we would've liked to rectify this with the company but they showed no interest in taking responsibility and even threatened to take us to court. Our painter has said that it has been scratched so deeply it would need to be repainted. As you can imagine we are extremely upset by this and very disappointed in how they handle this situation.

Started off well but ended with damage and legal threats from Andy (the owner)

Started off well: very accommodating with availability and working around our schedule to fit the cleans in.

Two cleaners came for two hours on three occasions. They were very friendly and polite with nice smiles. However the cleaning wasn't quite up to a good enough standard. I would walk around with them at the end and show the areas they had missed and ask them to be more thorough next time. For dusting some window sills and not others, leaving smeary shower glass etc.

On the third occasion I asked them to be really thorough in the bathrooms and only do hoovering if they had time. After the clean I discovered that they had dragged the metal nozzle of the hoover along the walls of the skirting and across our newly painted stairs leaving marks throughout the house. The house is newly renovated, so new in fact that the stairs had only been painted the week before so we were really upset.

I contacted Andy who runs the company by phone and email and he responded that the cleaners didn't cause the damage and threatened to take me to small claims court if I didn't pay the bill. I contacted our painter who looked and said that it had been scratched so deeply it would need to be re-painted.

I don't mind a mistake being made, but House Cleans (Andy) should have arranged to repair the damage rather than deny and threaten legal action.

What a disappointment.
