Don’t use Hotel Tonight
Technically this isn’t aimed directly at Airbnb, but at their subsidiary HotelTonight, which has been a complete nightmare to deal with. I tried to book a one-night stay in Lake George for 10/11, but when I got my confirmation, it showed 10/25 instead. The app changed my date. I called immediately to fix it, but customer service gave me the total runaround—no help, no refund, nothing. They basically just took my money and shrugged. Don’t use this app! Book directly with the hotel and save yourself the frustration.

No where on their site could I find a link to contact customer service!!! The 1-star reviews here, sadly make sense! I was going to send this to customer service, but could not and felt this would help others...
I WAS COMPLEYELY SHOCKED-
Expedia has truly ramped up their prices as being the best in my google search!!
Someone in marketing at HotelTonight may want to check that out- I just stayed in Orlando last weekend; their price on Expedia was actually much better including all taxes and fees!!!
No surprises at check-in and check-out.
Hopefully next time HotelTonight has better prices...

I had booked a hotel with Hilton and…
I had booked a hotel with Hilton and their system was down. After waiting nearly 2 hours I decided to give up and book through Hotel Tonight. It was just after midnight and I was able to book at a hotel called 4 Queen. In Downtown Las Vegas. It took me 10 minutes to drive there, I took another gentleman who had a similar issue and was also waiting at Hilton and we drove together. When I got there they said they didn’t have my reservation and that Hotel Tonight is a 3rd party vendor, but if i wanted to I could book a room. The Gentleman Matt booked a room and I decided to just drive to my friends house and sleep on his couch. I tried to cancel today and now they don’t want to give me a refund and making me prove to them that I tried to check in. This company is a scam, don’t book with them.

I showed up to a place that as a traveling woman, by myself, I felt completely unsafe. I called and let them know that they were bums all around the outside of the hotel just laying around and other groups of people just loitering in the parking lot, smoking, etc. I felt safe enough that I just didn’t even wanna get out of my car. I used to use hotel tonight quite a bit but now with work, I was going to ramp it up to at least weekly. I told her that and I told her that I would be happy to rebook with hotel tonight. I just needed a refund for this one so I could get another one. I trusted hotel tonight to only list and provide hotels that were, the very least safe. Hotel and I did not do that and did not rectify the situation. I am extremely dissatisfied.
HotelTonight Scam payment practices
I stayed at this hotel a few months ago, booking through hotel tonight website. At check-in, the hotel took my credit card. At check-out, they confirmed I owed $0 and gave me a print-out showing that.
Despite that, I was later charged for the room on my credit card without receiving any bill or receipt. The hotel tonight contacted the hotel and confirmed I was overcharged.
It has now been two months of repeated requests from the hotel for forms, emails, and “back office” reviews — yet no refund. Even today, after again confirming the mistake, they are requiring me to fill out more forms for what should be a simple correction.
This experience has been frustrating and unprofessional, and I would caution others to double-check their bills carefully.
Please note: Hotel Tonight also didn't resolve the issue but instead, I was on hold with them for hours
Terrible experience
Terrible experience. We booked 2 rooms for 2 parties and when we arrived the hotel said one room had been cancelled by “customer service” and we needed to go through the 3rd party (Hotel Tonight) we spent over 2 hours on the phone with no resolution. We finally gave up ended up with half our party 45 minutes away after a concert. The next day we called and explained the hassle and they would only reimburse for the one room we never got and they gave us a 10% coupon to use in the future. They told us it was a $100 coupon but it was up to 10% up to$100 and No thank you, will never use them again. If you do, I would call the hotel before check in to ensure you have it reserved.
Worse algorithm and Abusive Non refundable policies
I asked the app for a hotel near the airport LAX. It gave me a note an hour away from the airport.
The shuttles of the airport won’t even go there so so I would’ve lost all the economy made with “their good deal” using a uber or a taxi.
They won’t reimburse me.
Sheela at hotel tonight customer…
Sheela at hotel tonight customer service is an absolute GEM booked a non transferable room for the wrong night and she fixed it for me in minutes. A mistake on my end I figured I would not be reimbursed for but she took amazing care of us.
Do not use Hotel Tonight!
I made a reservation under my name for my husband and me on the Hotel Tonight app on my phone. The day we left, I was delayed, and my husband went ahead to meet clients. I was not able to meet him until much later that night. I called the hotel to let them know my husband was checking in, not me. They told me I had to go through Hotel Tonight. I spent over an hour on the phone with Hotel Tonight customer service and was told I could not add my husband to my reservation, even though I was NOT canceling and was using the same credit card. I asked to have the reservation cancelled so I could book through the hotel. I was told there was nothing they could do because my reservation was unchangeable and unrefundable. I will never use this service again! In the future, I will always book directly through the hotel.

Paid for a hotel 2 hrs away from my home, for 2 nights for me and my daughter so that I could start a new job. The hotel requested an additional $100 in person that I couldnt afford, they and hotel tonight refused to issue me a refund- with HT recommending I borrow the $100. It left me and my daughter stranded and I had to drive back home two hours away in the middle of the morning and I could not start my job with my five-year-old in the backseat. I do not recommend they caused me to lose my money as well as have to drive back home two hours away as well as to lose a job that paid $26.50 an hour. all fees should be listed on the site when you book the hotel those additional fees were not. They even acknowledged that they did not know anything about additional fees at that hotel. I also do not recommend using the best western as they are ghetto.
Woof. Not worth your peace of mind.
I spent my magical evening in downtown DC on the phone with HotelTonight.
Found a listing on hotel tonight that I thought was good luck-- excellent price in downtown DC, close to everything-- perfect for our very short visit. What a great find! We won't have to stay outside the city, and can have a magical night in town, grab some food, see the White House in the moonlight. Romance and democracy!
We drive 250 miles, arrive at 10pm to our parking reservation, walk several blocks to the hotel for the receptionist to say that the booking was canceled and that "they," hotel tonight, were supposed to call me to tell me. I received no phone call, no text message, no email. We were in an impossible situation: the hotel we were supposed to stay in had literally no rooms available, it was late at night, we are unfamiliar with the city.
We didn't find a new place to stay until nearly midnight, where we then walked nearly 10 blocks in downtown DC with our rolling suitcases, and didn't get the chance to take advantage of the only rain free moment of our stay, as it was scheduled to pour the next day.
We had such a small window of time to experience DC, from 10pm to 1pm the next day, and then to have to use that time to figure out (for a second time that day, mind you) a place to stay and a place to park in the middle of the night? Our plans for the evening literally evaporated as everything was closed (and we tried!)
I spent my magical night in DC on the phone with HotelTonight.
Fraudulent charges
Charged me for a room I did not book and are refusing to help or refund
Horrible experience
Title: HotelTonight Took My Money—No Room, No Help
I booked a room through HotelTonight at the Hampton Inn Dallas Downtown early Wednesday morning around 9AM. When I arrived that night, the hotel told me they had already given my room away. No notice, no explanation. I was left completely stranded in a city I don’t live in — even though I had already paid.
To make it worse, HotelTonight offered no real-time support or resolution. No refund was immediately issued. No alternative accommodation was provided. Just silence or canned responses.
This is a booking platform that markets itself as fast and reliable, but what’s the point if the reservation isn’t honored and they leave you hanging?
Avoid HotelTonight unless you’re okay with gambling on whether or not your room will actually exist when you show up.
False claim of lower price guarantee
False claim of lower price guarantee. Price on booking.com was lower. Refused to admit and refused to refund the money. Incorrect hotel description where states completely different reviews then on other sites. Do Not book anything before checking other sites for price comparison. I personally will never use them again
I tried using this site for the first…
I tried using this site for the first time to book a last minute hotel in Lincoln, NH. I picked a hotel and when I got there they stated they didn’t have my reservation. Looking further into the issue they found my booking for a hotel in Lincoln, NB. I called hotel tonight and ask for a refund as I had searched for a hotel in New Hampshire not Nebraska. I was told they would call me back. The representative called me back and stated they couldn’t refund me. I asked to speak to a manager. I got disconnected 3 times before speaking with a supervisor who said she would call me back. When she called she said she couldn’t cancel becauee it wasn’t their error but could offer me 25% off a different hotel. I explained that I had searched for a hotel in NH and I don’t know why this hotel had come up. I also stated I got hung up on 3 times. She replied they have to hang up on people sometimes. I was really shocked by the run around customer service I received.
Thieves/scammers
I booked a hotel with them, showed up, and the hotel didn't have the reservation. It turns out HotelTonight had an inventory error. Luckily, I was able to book directly through the hotel (which was even cheaper), but that's only when my problems started.
After speaking to the customer rep on the phone for an hour, they offered me a refund to my credit card. But they were only willing to refund me app credits instead of refunding the card directly. Then, days later when I tried to log into the app to check the credits, they randomly closed my account due to their "automatic system detection." So my credits were cut off from me.
I spent days between their phone support and email support, asking to get the money back from the refund, but they just kept copy-pasting the same message like they weren't even reading what I was writing.
Horrendous experience, don't deal with these scammers.
Don't even get the app the first…
Don't even get the app the first experience I had was good. Then when me and a friend tried looking for another hotel to book I accidentally pressed the wrong button to was trying g to see the rooms and all of a sudden it said congratulations, and I didn't even want that room so I called to get my money back and they they said they'll work on it and then thet went and credited the money back to their app is if they were my bank, telling me now I can book more hotels the way I want it is a huge scam. I demanded my money back imitatiately and got rid of the app never again
Horrible Experience with Bedbugs and Lack of Support from HotelTonight
I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience with HotelTonight and their partner hotel, Naples Garden Inn. I was forced to leave my room at 3 a.m. due to a severe bedbug infestation that left me covered in painful bites (photos attached). The hotel failed to offer any meaningful support, and HotelTonight has done little to make this right.
Despite providing clear evidence of the infestation and the physical discomfort it caused me, HotelTonight refused to refund the additional $86 I paid to book a new room at a different hotel. They offered me only credits for future bookings, which I have no interest in using given how poorly this situation was handled.
This back-and-forth with HotelTonight has been frustrating and time-consuming. They have shown that they care more about protecting their bottom line than about compensating their customers fairly for significant health and safety issues like bedbugs. I will not be using HotelTonight again and caution others to be careful when booking through their platform.
Helpless and useless app
I booked through them and the hotel charged me 150 for an incidental fee ( refundable ) and till this moment 22 days. The hotel didn’t refund me. Nor this company was able to help.
Never ever again.
