Positive Experience

I haven't needed to report anything, but the ease of getting the insurance, along with the automatic withdrawal, I am quite content with my coverage and insurance decision.

Underwriter made two huge mistakes on…

Underwriter made two huge mistakes on our home policy. We have two homes we were first told they were both approved but then told they wouldn’t insure our homes. Underwriter had made mistakes on the description of both homes. Tried to correct it but still got them wrong. We had to give up and ask for our money back. Horace Mann charged our credit card before our applications were even signed. It took almost two months to get all our money back for 5 vehicles and two homes. Still don’t understand what went wrong but the Senior agent we were working with didn’t seem to want to make it right.

Colleen has been there from day one to answer every question and get quotes for different scenarios without hesitation. When I had a question that was a no brainer, she still politely answered and gave explanation. She answers every call, email, or text very quickly. She makes me feel like part of a family and comfortable to ask anything when it comes to my policies.

The personal attention and honest recommendations from the Horace Mann team based on my budget was very personal for my final decisions. The team of two were local and readily available when I felt uncertain of any and all major concerns. The rates were reasonable for my level of needs.

Overall communication at start, wasn't great

The overall setup communication wasn't great. Never received paperwork, IDs, nothing. Had to reach back out weeks later to get what I needed. Got warned they were competitors to other educator services, so shop around. Otherwise the 2nd time around I DID reach a rep, who handled my account.
