Ignition barrel fault - life changing injuries

A known fault with my Honda CRV caused an accident that inflicted life changing injuries. An independent licensed examiner confirmed the fault. Honda denied responsibility and asked to examine the car which was on secure hold as agreed with insurer Markerstudy. They then advised the car had been 'accidentally destroyed'. Hondas lawyers then said no evidence due to destruction of car. You can draw your own conclusions. Suffice to say both companies have shown conniving behaviour and a lack of integrity.

BEWARE

BEWARE! Honda civic 1litre turbo

I bought the car brand new in 2017. In 2021 the car engine failed. I took it to the dealership and they said it was a known fault and that warranty would replace the engine free of charge. Which they did (however it took 3 months). In the end we were just glad to get the car back with the new engine.

The diagnosis on this visit is as follows:

Vehicle recovered in with engine management light on and noise coming from engine.
Checked all DTC codes with HDS.
Turbo failure, noise from turbo, removed feed pipe from turbo. Found filter blocked.
Removed cam cover, found belt rubbing on cam cover.
The crank shaft drive pulley is causing accelerated wear to the timing belt. Which creates timing blet fibres collected in the oil filter which leads to reduction in flow.
This situation results in oil supply deficiency which results In engine or turbo charger failure.

22 months later, in 2023 the engine failed again. I took it back to the dealer and was told the foreman knew straight away what it was, was a known fault and would need an engine replacement and they were just putting it through to get cleared by warranty. (They said there was 3 cars in all having the same repair done under warranty at the same time)

The diagnosis on this visit was exactly the same as the first time.

It was only then I mentioned I had had this repair done in 2021. After that was acknowledged the warranty department started requesting more and more data. The data supplied to them via the dealership I was told was inkeeping with the problem all the cars were having, and showed absolutely nothing different or unexpected.

In the WEEKS I had to wait for an answer from warranty, with no hire car and hundreds and hundreds been spent on rental cars I got the answer no. Warranty said no on the basis the repair had been done in 2021.

I was shocked that they expected a car only 5.5 years old to need a third engine, with the second one only lasting 22 months. (Apparently the 2 year warranty on the engine didn’t count as it wasn’t bought as retail)

With no where to turn I contact the motor ombudsman who took my case. I’m currently being assigned a case worker.

Then in Jan I got a product recall letter. I asked the dealership what this meant and they didn’t know. They said as it’s an official recall they possibly could now get a different outcome from warranty, and advised me to contact customer care.

I did this and explained all the above and it was still a firm no:

‘From these investigations, I can advise that Product update that you received a letter for requires additional parts that are not used in a regular timing belt change and is a product update for another 6 years/75k miles whichever comes first.

I am sorry to advise that we would be unable to make any contributions towards the costs for the repair as the Warranty Department already made their decision based on the information provided by the dealership. Furthermore, please be kindly advised that you can either do the PUD now or postpone it until the next repair of the timing belt is due.’

Am I missing something? I cannot afford to replace an engine every 25k miles! I asked how to safeguard this happening again and was told it’s nothing I can do.

A quick search on relevant forums show how widespread this problem is.

Am also Talking to which, and failing that the national newspaper. These cars are not fit for purpose.

Reliable cars but totally unreliable dealers

Honda UK and its authorised dealers are running scams involving new cars, not just used ones. They sell defective cars that come over from Japan as long as they can be driven and later refuse to fix them under warranty. They openly lie, and when you expose them, they say, go to the motor ombudsman. Especially Crown Honda is a very dodgy dealer.

Worst car experience

My Civic 1.0l has been a nightmare. Turbo failed and has now been at the Honda dealership for 8 weeks. I have just been told due to a back order I am looking at another 8 weeks. I will never drive a Honda ever again. I now have high levels of stress I really could be doing without.

Staffordshire Honda. Newcastle Under Lyme

I write with regards to Staffordshire Honda in Newcastle under Lyme.
Mark has made the whole process of part exchanging my Tiger and purchasing the Verseys seamless - Even introducing me to the Workshop manager who gave me total confidence I'd choose a superb motorcycle.
Staffordshire Honda are also delivering my bike very soon to save me riding out on ice and salt ladened roads.
I seriously can't sing the praises of the dealership highly enough. A1

Shame there is not a 0 star option!

Shame there is not a 0 star option!
Our 2018 brand new HR-V fully serviced by a Honda dealership had to have all 4 fuel injectors replaced in April 2023 after only 17,763 miles at a cost of £1,667.74.
Our complaint to and request for support from Customer Services was met with corporate platitudes "pride in our reputation for quality and reliability" and "customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance but we are unable to help". Not unable unwilling!
December 2023 ECU replaced at a further cost of £1,737.61.
Another complaint to Customer Services and a request to acknowledge poor quality and reliability and to offer some support regarding the cost did not even get a response.
Apalling.

Poor quality!!! DO NOT BUY HONDA

Shame there isn’t the option for zero stars!!
Honda have recalled cars because they have a design fault. They decided to put the belt INSIDE the engine (really smart move!) so it is melting and parts breaking off. Today I have been told that the faulty car I have, which they have recalled because of poor quality, can’t be looked at until March. I can’t have a courtesy car and to top it all I have to pay for the repairs. 30,000 miles and a fault on their part. Nice one Honda, great quality & service 👍

Customer Service Severely Lacking

Contacted customer service to be told that they'd escalate the issue and they'd send a form for me to fill out to my email, but no form received.

Tried calling back on a Saturday because their phone line and site says they're open at this time, but after having spent 1.5 hours on the phone with no answer, decided to call their finance team who say that the Honda UK customer service team never works Saturdays, utter disappointment in a brand that I thought was supposed to be good...

SUPPORT? WHO ARE YOU KIDDING ...

I have today taken delivery of a brand-new EC22i portable generator, bought because it had such a good press for its engineering. Big mistake. I should have tried downloading an owner's and a workshop manual. The UK website is totally circular and does not have an e-mail address, and the EC series of generators is not on the list of downloadable manuals. Unless the dealer comes through big time, this totally unsupported piece of kit is going back.

Honda Goldwing expolded in worthless warranty

2021 Honda Goldwing devloped a well known mechanical problem at only 2,500 miles that has affected several other machines at higher mileages. Honda UK messed about, delayed, procrastinated and then even denied the problem existed.
What? The fault is plastered all over YouTube and it also only takes seconds to 'Google' the information needed to confirm the problem. The machine has been into the Dealers twice, only to be returned as 'fixed' in less time than I knew the repair job could take.......
Now, 7 miles later the machine exploded.
Honda Customer Care said: -
Quote "Out of warranty, pay for the repairs yourself"
Shame that there was still a year left on the guarantee.

Honda Jazz (2017) replacemnt battery

Bought a Honda Jazz (2017) from main dealer. A year later, the battery is dead with no warning. Replaced at main dealer for extortionate price and 1 year warrantee. 15 months later, the battery is dead again. This appears to be a common issue with the OEM battery, and alternatives are not easily available in the UK. x2 new batteries in 3 years! Not what you expect from Honda. Reputation for quality is rapidly declining.

Marshall’s have taken over the Clitheroe and Blackburn dealership so I have finished with this brand after having 5 New civic’s.Wouldn’t trust this outfit to build a sandcastle if I gave them a bucket and spade down on the beach.Honda UK were not interested when I told them Marshall’s were cutting corners on their servicing of my car.

Never seen such shocking customer service . Even have left messages for the business manager, not a single call back from anyone .. really shocking

Purchased an eu32i generator six months…

Purchased an eu32i generator six months ago, won’t start! After 10hrs running! Customer service said take it to a local dealer for inspection, tried my three nearest dealerships, one didn’t do generators, second didn’t do fuel injected generators and a third told me it sounded like the carburettor which was fuel related and not covered by warranty, so therefore chargeable, it doesn’t have a carburettor! Paid £2400 for this piece of junk, thinking Honda were the most reliable generators available! Their customer service are useless and say they can’t help until it’s been inspected, but can’t tell me where to take it for inspection. Don’t even deserve 1star and I’m speaking to trading standards!

Shocking service

Shocking service, if you think your getting a factory fresh product buying direct, think again. Your order will be sent to dealer and the 'new' product you get can be over two years old. So missing out on any reliability and quality updates.
Difficult to contact and when you do they just send you round and round. They'll take your details and that's as far as it goes. No delivery details, no tracking numbers what a poor quality customer service.

UK Dealer shamed Honda

Happy with the services provided by Japan but never the UK dealer - Southport Honda, Cox Motor Group Dealerships

Took out a service and 2 years warranty for 2023-2025 from Southport Honda according to Southport's quote.

A call from salesman to remind me to have a new warranty bringing this to light. They created a warranty for another period, 2022-2023. No refunding and I have to pay for the mistake which is not made by me.

Cannot bear this unacceptable fault.

Avoid buying a HONDA at all cost

My HR-V is 13months old and has done 4500 miles. Despite regularly driving the vehicle one morning I came down to find the battery flat and nothing would work. The AA came out and got it started. I took it in for service (26th September) and the software was updated. Apparently all their garages new that the update was necessary but never advised the customer. Now on 6 October after the service the same thing has happened and the AA had to visit to start it up. Can I get any urgency out of Brayley's at Enfield London--emphatic NO! The car is unreliable and as such cannot be used! All for £30K. I tried to call the Honda Customer Contact Centre and was left hanging on for ONE hour and still no response. Worst car I have ever had in my life
