I have always cleaned my house myself but having got very busy recently I contacted Home Clean. The contract I signed up to initially was for 3 months. Despite a bad experience, I signed up for a further 6 months, against my better judgement.
In summary, you essentially pay them for a name and a contact number for a cleaner, then it’s potluck if the cleaner turns up.
My first cleaner did not come until an hour after ETA for a 4 hour clean. I never saw her again – she later informed Home Clean that my address was too far. Fair enough, they got me another. Must mention here that it takes them quite a while to get replacement cleaner - in the sales pitch you get the impression that they have several cleaners on their list to draw on – but it can’t be further from the truth. The second cleaner I saw only once – she was a fine cleaner, but she couldn’t carry on due to a second job she had. After another few weeks, I got the 3rd cleaner – she seemed to be regular, consistent and timely. Unfortunately for Home Clean, she left soon after for another stint.
Since then it’s been more stressful than convenient while dealing with Home Clean. They give you a time and either arrive late, or not at all. I have heard all the excuses going – back pain, sudden appointments, sickness, including one cleaner who looked up my address on Rightmove and informed me that my house was too big to clean.
The company take no responsibility for any accidents or damage. Apparently to be sorted between client and cleaner. So, you basically pay the company for nothing.
Despite not getting what I signed up for, at best a patchy, irregular service, Home Clean has refused to repay the outstanding contract value– their stance being that they still provide a cleaner – every now and then! So now I am stuck with this company till the contract ends. An absolute joke of a company!
