Really Impressed with Hodge Bank
From initial application to transferring money, we found Hodge to be easy to use and very quick to respond when monies deposited. Also ofcourse their interest rates(fixed bond) were very competitive. Also Hodge is UK based with a long long history.

The Best Service
I have been a Hodge customer for a number of years and they are a superb provider. I recently renewed a fixed rate bond and not only do they give you a 30 day window to do so, as an existing customer you get all of the same options for a new account as a new customer. In addition, if the interest rate goes up you automatically get the uplift. I really like the email you get on maturity day confirming all the details of your new account which is sent first thing in the morning. Providers like Charter Bank and Kent Reliance really need to take a look at Hodge to see how it's done.

This morning I made a payment to my Hodge account - the credit arrived with an hour of me sending the money online.
Again within the hour I received a confirmation from Hodge that they had received the credit to my account.
They also said they were returning it as it exceeded the legal annual savings limit which I understand. My mistake - I have to wait a few days for the new tax year to start
What I do NOT accept is Hodge saying they are returning my credit but it will take FIVE days to make the repayment.
It will actually take longer because the five working days will not include tomorrow Good Friday. Easter Saturday and Sunday, Easter Monday so four days will take us to the end of the week and I may get my money back one week next Monday. It’s Thursday as I write.
It’s a nice credit for them to hang on to, it deprives me of investment/interest time and can only benefit Hodge.
Why not return it through the same online IT modern banks use - the way I sent it to them this morning? Greed. It’s what this bank is made of.
Next week I will close down my business with Hodge and remove ALL my funds.

Slow Processing and Poor Timing Advice
I applied for an ISA with Hodge Bank on 26/03 after being advised to do so on or before that date to ensure enough time to fund the account before the tax year ends. I was informed that account opening would take 2 business days, which already seemed longer than most other providers.
However, it has now been 4 business days (excluding the weekend), and my application is still not processed. This delay has put me at real risk of losing this year’s ISA allowance, which is extremely frustrating given that I could have opened and funded an account with another bank within this timeframe.
The lack of timely processing and poor expectation management is disappointing, especially for something as time-sensitive as an ISA near the end of the tax year. I would not recommend relying on this service if timing is critical.

Overall Good Experience
Hodge Bank customer service is faultless and flawless. The detailed information on their products is good. The only snag which I hit occurred when transferring funds from my Bank to Hodge Bank. Hodge uses a modular system which automatically raises red flags triggering queries or even withholding of the payment. These issues are resolved quickly there and then but they shouldn't crop up as it's a headache to convince the Bank which is transferring the funds that the transaction is legitimate.

So Very quick and easy I opened the account with ease in the Morning ,( good interest rate ) confirmation came within about 30 mins. I went to bank in the afternoon to transfer Funding to new account and had confirmation of funds received, and thanks late afternoon. Could not be better .
