A well-deserved 5 stars
My flat purchase was not as straightforward as I thought it would be, and it took a lot longer than I was expecting. Having said that, Karen Rieveley handled my conveyancing with utmost diligence, professionalism and care. I only wish that the vendor’s solicitor could have been as professional, and then my purchase may have progressed with less delays. Karen works very methodically, and with attention to detail. Don’t expect much conversation, and trust her to get on with her job… and she will deliver what she promises to do.
We got there in the end, and I’m extremely thankful to Karen and her team for pulling out all the stops to get my completion done before the stamp duty deadline at the end of September.
The service from start to completion…
The service from start to completion was excellent, having a named point of contact (business development associate) was most helpful. The whole team were friendly and efficient and matters were concluded promptly. The portal is user friendly
I wish I could give zero stars
I wish I could give zero stars. Most cases are handled by inexperienced paralegals without supervision and I’m receiving emails from workers in Sri Lanka. When I finally got through to my case handler (paralegal) she said she has hundreds of other cases to deal with and that I am welcome to write a bad review.
Extremely poor experience
Extremely poor experience, zero contact, I must have called the company at least 100 times over the last 3/4 months. I only ever received 1 or 2 callbacks. Documents weren't checked for weeks, so if anything was missing or not accessible I wasn't aware until a month later. I would strongly recommend keeping away from Hodders Law. No accountability from anyone and no genuine apologies provided.

One of the worst companies I have had the pleasure of dealing with. Zero communication. Avoid.
Hodders Law: an Absolutely awful experience
Absolutely awful experience. I appointed this company through a third party for simple land transaction Conveyancing. Having paid a deposit I then heard nothing. I telephoned repeatedly and left messages with their Sri-Lankan call centre. Despite calling up to twice a day for the last two weeks I did not receive a single call back. It now looks as though I’ve lost my land and I’m really frustrated at this company. I’m now looking to identify if I can make a claim against them.
Absolute sh#t show of a company
Absolute sh#t show of a company. 30 telephone messages unanswered and nearly as many emails totally ignored. A Paralegal is supposedly on my case but have yet to speak to an actual solicitor once. Even their complaints department won’t call me back !!!!
Don’t touch with a barge pole !
Do not use this law firm
Do not use this law firm. I bought my flat with their conveyancing department in Battersea in October 2019 but when I put it on the market in July 2021, I found that the previous owner was still the owner according to Land Registry. Hodders had failed to complete the legal requirement with regard to the managing agents, failed to register my name and then had forgotten to remedy their mistake and so I was not the legal owner. The matter is now remedied but I missed the stamp duty holiday and have to date received no apology or recognition from any of the Hodders directors. I have reported them to the SRA. Very poor indeed.
Good service
Been dealing with someone named Cecilia over the past few weeks. Was extremely helpful, especially with my ID checks as I was experiencing some technical difficulties from my old laptop but she was always very patient and helpful!!

Hodders Solicitors has offered me excellent service on conveyancing , they are professional and responsive. I strongly recommend them to you.
Avoid
Firstly I do not know how this outfit have got 4 stars? Clearly deleting bad reviews.
These cowboys are by far the worst company i have ever dealt with. Sat on my file for 4 to 5 weeks before even working on it, impossible to contact by phone as nobody ever bloody answers, emails are replied back to about 3 to 4 days after you've sent them, ive been told on the 04.08.21 that they have received my contract and will contact my sellers solicitors to discuss a date to exchange contracts, then they tell the estate agents who we are buying through that they have not received the contract from us yet, but i know they have received it as it was sent via recorded delivery.
Will never use hodders ever again and definitely will not be recommending them to anyone

First time buyer--conveyancing
I purchased my first house recently with Hodders as my lawyers, with Cigdem and Sheila (or Sherine?) primarily dealing with my case. I was buying right ahead of the end of the stamp duty holiday coming to an end, so probably the busiest time!
I found the team really helpful and on top of things, we managed to exchange and complete on the 30th June. Communication was good and I was always able to get a response on anything within a day or two, and towards the end when we were getting overt the line virtually immediately.
My first property fell through (issue on side of vendors), there was no issue in quickly transferring work to my new property and getting on top of that. I found Hodders thorough and when I told them my desired timescales they immediately worked to that. When some issues came up they were quick to suggest solutions and negotiate with vendor to get my purchase over the line.
Overall would definitely use again--great price for really good service. Have already recommended to multiple friends who are buying. Thanks again!
Absolutely excellent
Absolutely excellent. Cannot fault the brilliant, swift and tactful workmanship of Daylia Johnson in getting my house sold with minimal fuss and maximum attention to detail. Any problems were managed with great professionalism, no glaring hidden costs and just all round VFM and positive attitude. Highly recommend.
Nightmare
Nightmare!
We had the original sale fall through, I put in an offer for a new property, sent the details and the new instruction to the Solicitors and absolutely nothing has happened in over 10 days. Have been calling multiple times a day, every time I get through to a different person and each time they tell me it's a someone else who can help. I understand if the solicitor themselves are busy with the stamp duty deadline approaching, but just updating the details of the property I am going to purchase should not be this hard.

I wish I could give minus stars!
This firm of solicitors was an absolute crap show.
There were only four clients in our conveyancing chain and their solicitor Norma almost caused the chain to collapse. An exchange was needed and people in the chain were threatening to pull out because she wasn't doing her job. This would have rendered her client homeless - her response was that it wasn't her problem and she didn't care.
She was rude, unapproachable, unreliable and did not appear to have the knowledge required to complete the simplest of conveyancing jobs. Let's not forget the fact that she kept losing documents and both our solicitors and her clients had to keep resending things.
When complaints were raised from estate agents and other solicitors, she jumped straight to feeling bullied.
Upshot, we got there in the end but Norma single handedly ruined the enjoyment we should all have felt in buying our new homes.
Use at your own peril!
It was was very pleasant experience…
It was was very pleasant experience working with Daylia at Hodder's. The service was prompt, efficient, and transparent, and I found it amazing, that in these COVID 19 times, that all parties involved could correspond so efficiently remotely. All of this is with Daylia's help. I will certainly use their services again.
Cecelia
Non-communicative, slow; had to replace them
Instructed them for conveyancing. Took over a month for them to send the initial letter to the other solicitors. Almost never answered calls or replied to emails; had to chase four or five times to get answers to simple questions.
Eventually instructed an alternate solicitor; when I explained I was leaving due to the poor service I was told "you have to understand everyone's working from home at the moment" (18 months into pandemic lockdown). If they can't manage replying to emails 18 months into lockdown, they certainly can't manage conveyancing.
On the upside, they did refund the disbursements money within a couple of days, so _someone_ there clearly knows what they're doing...

Great service quick completion
Great service overall, Hodders completed on my purchase in good time and supported me throughout the process. Highly recommend them for anyone doing a sale or purchase.
This was my first time doing a…
This was my first time doing a re-mortgage on my own but I can say that each time I asked for an update, the staff if they don't know they will always let me know that Karen Rieveley would get back to me. I did face abit of delay but with the advised given my case was dealt with very efficient ly. For this reason I will recommend the Hodders Law group to my friends and family, as they also dealt with my sister's case at another branch she also was pleased.
Disappointing service and poor communication
I have had a disappointing expertise so far. I moved over to Hodders Law after I was informed that my last solicitor was not on the panel for my lender despite having completed all the searches.
I checked whether Hodders had the capacity to take my conveyancing on and use the existing searches and complete before the SDLT deadline which was, at that time, over 11 weeks away. I was informed that this would be possible and realistic. I therefore transferred my conveyancing to Hodders.
Since I transferred I have phoned reception one or twice weekly to get an update, I have yet to have an email or call back for any of my calls. I have also sent weekly emails to check on progress. Do far I have had two emails back one from a partner who simply started that my designated conveyancer is dealing with my case and another email from my conveyancer which suggested that they were not fully aware of all the information.
I am increasingly concerned that they will not be able to deliver what was promised costing me several thousand pounds in additional costs in the process.
I have lost faith in them and, unless there is a drastic improvement, would be very unlikely to use again.
