From the minute I made enquiries for a relative to them moving my relative into the home it has been a first class service in every way. The kindness empathy and professional shown by all the staff from the initial enquiry to discussing care has been second to none, My relative is so well looked after and is a different person now thank you to all the staff at Hesketh Park Lodge. We can’t thank you enough.

My Aunty was in for respite and I couldn’t believe how lovely the home was. As soon as you walk in you can feel the difference. All these places are called homes but this genuinely feels like home. Spotlessly clean and such friendly and helpful staff.

Hesketh Park Lodge care home - Southport.

WARNING: Please avoid this care home. Do not admit a friend or relative into Hesketh Park Lodge in Southport. The Lodge is part of the Athena healthcare group. My mother is law is 85. Following a complicated medical operation, she needed rest bite care.  The sales consultant at the Lodge promised she would be cared for and looked after. After a few days, my mother-in-law complained she was being mis treated. The food listed on the menu was not provided. Items of food were in short supply. When my mother-in-law was feeling unwell, she activated the call bell. This was ignored. On more than one occasion, the staff were rude to her.
She was left waiting a long time for meals. The food was inadequate and served cold. Her medication was not administered correctly and on one occasion, lost! It was clear from my observations; drugs were mis used and left unattended in the kitchen. She was not helped or encouraged to exercise. The toilet was not cleaned. She was disturbed at 6am in the morning. Staff were unhelpful and despondent. Agency staff were changing daily, there was no continuity or organisation. There was a severe shortage of staff. It became very clear that the Lodge was run on a very, very tight budget.
My mother-in-law was badly neglected and treated cruelly. I have complained to the care quality commission and the NHS. I am organising a peaceful protest outside Hesketh Park Lodge to warn and discourage others NOT to use this care home. The total enthesis and foundation is money, money, money. Greed is a common denominator here.
I have written to the owner of the care home who resides in the Isle of Man. I have requested a small, partial refund. He has refused. On discharge, MIL left the home one hour late. They charged another £170.00

Old people at their end of life should not be treated in this way. It was a very upsetting and a sad experience for my mother-in-law and my family.
