Healthy Paws isn't the company it used to be. I can't help but wonder whether Healthy Paws' acquisition by Chubb contributed to their decline, or some other factor(s) led to Healthy Paws decline. What I know is that the Healthy Paws of today is not the Healthy Paws of yesteryear, as recently as 3 years ago.

If you're shopping for pet insurance, I encourage you to compare options with other insurance companies, before choosing Healthy Paws.

One of the first changes I noticed at Healthy Paws, since Chub’s acquisition of Healthy Paws, was the replacement or significant reduction of its U.S.-based customer service centers and personnel, with an offshore call center. In my experience, the quality of customer service declined dramatically, since the advent of the off-shore call centers. It was much more difficult to get knowledgeable, efficient assistance, whether by phone or email, with the advent of the off-shore Healthy Paws call center in the Filipines, then it was when Healthy Paws customer service phone lines were answered in the USA.

What makes matters even worse is that, after years of loyalty, Healthy Paws is asking customers, today, to pay more while receiving less. Our annual deductible increased from $250 to $500, and our reimbursement rate dropped from 80% to 70%. That means we're paying higher premiums while assuming significantly more of the financial burden for our pet's care. That's a substantial reduction in the value of the coverage.

Our family has been with Healthy Paws for more than 20 years. When our dog's policy comes up for renewal, we will be leaving Healthy Paws, and going to Pumpkin, for dog insurance. Fortunately, our dogs have no pre-existing conditions, which gives us the flexibility to shop elsewhere. After comparing other insurers, I found policies that offer better value along with stronger customer reviews; we, today, selected Pumpkin, for dog insurance.

It's disappointing to leave a company we trusted for so many years, but Healthy Paws no longer offers the level of service or value that originally earned our business.

How does this make sense? This is from our Healthy Paws Renewal Notice:
Your pet's coinsurance (your share) increased from 20% to 30%;
Your pet's reimbursement level (our share) decreased from 80% to 70%;
Your pet's deductible increased from $250.00 to $500.00;
Your pet's premium increased from $162.55 to $183.40

Goodbye, Healthy Paws. It may not be halloween, but, we’re going to Pumpkin (who has fantastic consumer reviews on TrustPilot, and is held in high regard by our animal hospital).

Speedy reimbursement of puppies medical bills

I normally don’t leave reviews, but Healthy Paws has been fantastic. I highly recommend them to anybody looking for pet insurance. They have covered everything for my dogs from cancer to hip. I’ve been using Healthy Paws for nine years and have never had an issue whatsoever.

My 8 year old golden retriever Lola had GI bleeding that required hospitalization and a lot of medication. It was expensive but without the urgent care, she likely would have had a perforated intestine with a poor prognosis. Fortunately, the care she received was excellent and as always Healthy Paws covered everything that was agreed to per our plan and made the process very easy during a difficult time. A few weeks later, Lola is back to her old self, just finished a 7 mile mountain hike and we have already received the funds from Healthy Paws in our bank account. We tell every pet owner we know that Healthy Paws is the BEST and to please insure their furbabies with them! Thank you once again, Healthy Paws!!! You all are amazing.

After being with Healthy Paws for over 10 years I just got a 27% rate increase from $465 per month to $629 per month!
Their coverage has always been thin but in addition to the rate increase they cut benefits.
They don't cover if your dog is sick and you need to take them to the VET! I have been referring them for years, but no more!

Your company is one of the easiest to work with. Filing claims is simple and hassle-free, and your turnaround time is outstanding. Claim payments are processed quickly, making it unnecessary to carry the veterinary charges for an extended period. I truly appreciate the efficiency and excellent service you provide.

I was nervous when I got a $9600 vet bill for my dog who ate two corn on the cobs. I paid the bill and when I submitted the invoice within 24 hours, it was already approved and a check was sent to me within three days. I’m very happy with my experience with Healthy Paws.

Nice and easy process to file my claims and very fast decision making on what will be covered and paid. Then very fast payment even without direct deposit.

Always raising rates!!! Insane... I start off paying $32 a month for 90% coverage and now I pay $95 a month for only 60% coverage. and on top of that you can't change back to more of a deductible for a lessor rate

Prompt and clear communication and payment received quickly

So far after our amazing dog, had a car accident the Healthy Paws insurance app and process has been very straightforward. Easy to use efficient and well done. We still have more veterinary care associated with this claim coming up so I’m hopeful they will be as helpful with the future part of this claim but so far they’ve been great.
