Edited to add: the shoe repair shop said that the shoes had degraded so badly that they needed re-welting. Hawes and Curtis declined to refund me, and told me to do a chargeback with my credit card instead.
I expected much better from Hawes & Curtis. I bought a pair of shoes in November 2025, and after only eight months the sole started separating from the shoe. For a premium brand, I don’t believe this is acceptable.
Customer services initially dismissed the issue as “reasonable wear and tear”, and offered me 15% off their store, as if I would buy another pair of shoes from them! After I challenged this, they offered either a 15% refund or to reimburse the cost of a repair if I arranged and paid for it myself.
While I appreciate the offer, I’m disappointed they weren’t prepared to take greater responsibility for what I believe is a quality issue. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t buy shoes from Hawes & Curtis again.

Don’t bother with this shop. Bought a pair of swimming shorts that were the incorrect size and they wouldn’t let me exchange them.
The email they put below this review - makes it seem like they want to help, but it’s just for show - you’ve been warned!

I went to the Westfield branch for a suit for a wedding - the staff there could not have been more helpful, working out what was best for me in terms of fit and style.
Thanks in particular to Zay, who was brilliant in getting the suit fitted for me.
Really happy with my suit and will definitely come back again!
The price for shipping and handling is ridiculous. How it when fron 4.95 to 17.95 in 2 weeks. Looks like we're paying for tariffs again. Not just you're paying for shipping, if you have to return something, it's way difficult to contact them and on top of that, you have pay for the returns.

The service received from the Jermyn Street store has been profoundly unsatisfactory. On 30 June 2026, my son attended a fitting for a tailored suit — an occasion that should have marked an important personal milestone. Upon collecting the suit on 6 July 2026, it became evident that the trousers had been measured and hemmed incorrectly.
What followed was a series of contradictory and unclear communications from both the store and customer services. Despite assurances that the matter would be addressed, no definitive resolution has been provided, and as of 15 July 2026, the issue remains outstanding.
The mishandling of this situation, combined with the emotional impact on my son, reflects a concerning lack of professionalism and accountability. For a brand that promotes itself as a reputable tailoring specialist, this experience has fallen significantly below acceptable standards.

I have been using H&C for abut a tyear. Excellent quality and fit. Certainly worth the price, especially during their occasional sales!
I find it pretty shocking that they don’t clearly say that returns aren’t free.
The wording on their website “We offer 28-day returns… » is carefully chosen and honestly feels misleading. Most people will naturally assume that means returns are free, when in reality they have to pay for them.
It’s a disappointing way to communicate with customers, especially at a time when people are looking for brands that are transparent and treat their customers with respect. This kind of messaging feels pretty disingenuous and doesn’t inspire much trust.

Really a disapointing experience and I just warn you - never ever never buy anything there ! The return process is ridiculous and I had to pay 10€ each item (cost 39€) for returning and all items are made in Bangladesh (business shirts!!).
To be honest I wanted to cancel the order already 3 minutes after placing the order but they declined.
REALLY AVOID HAWES & CURTIS !!! IT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED !!!
WORST E-COMMERCE EXPERIENCED EVER !

I bought a raincoat from the Edinburgh branch. A button fell of when I tried it on in the shop but I bought it thinking it was just one of those things. The assistant took me to their repair worker who not only sewed the button back on but had to fix three others. After getting home I saw that two more were loose and fixed them myself. My suspicions were verified when I found a well-hidden label saying that the coat was made in China. On looking at a suit I had bought recently I saw that that was made in China too. H&C present themselves as having a long West End tradition 'established 1913' and their clothing range as 'quintessentially British'. As I have been a customer of theirs for several years now I feel as if I've been taken for a mug. The raincoat will be the last of my purchases from H&C. (My partner bought shirts form this company too only to find they were made in Bangladesh.) I didn't mind paying more as I thought I was buying good quality clothing. I may as well have stuck to the popular chains and saved my money.

Same reponse AI generated and totally appalling given the response on here , am beginning to see why there is always a sale
Same response would advise that people try not to use anything online or even in store as they can’t seem to do the job downgraded to 1 star
Great clothes
Customer services horrendous .. wanted to exchange a Belt after having bought a suit travelled 45 mins to the store which at mid morning on a Thursday was having a systems update for two days. ., clearly the company is run as well as the labour goverment , emailed customer services to explain and could they do someothing else .. Answer was no .. I would need to make a special visit to the store .. and waste 2 hours of my day doing say .. I have to say overall this has really put me off going in again.
I have sent all the Information and email chain from customer services to customer services .. let’s see if they do anymore

Quality and fit is poor which is typical for made in China garments (which it is). Very expensive return costs to EU. Will not be ordering again.

Very poor quality for the price, we bought a suit in the Edinburgh shop for a wedding and 30 minutes before ceremony the zip of the trousers completely came undone. It did not even rip, it just became undone as if it was never sewed properly... 500£ spent in this shop for such a bad quality, outrageous !!

I’ve been buying these shirts for over 22 years. Even after moving to Luxembourg, I still order them online regularly.
In all that time, I’ve only had one shipment go missing, and it was refunded immediately. As a goodwill gesture, they also offered me free express shipping on my next order.
The quality has always been excellent, and I love the shirts. They fit perfectly and have remained a consistent part of my wardrobe for more than two decades.
I am a regular Hawes & Curtis in-store customer who used their online store for the first time, having been too busy in the lead-up to my wedding to visit in person. I won’t be making that mistake again.
The website offered no express delivery option whatsoever, so standard delivery was the only choice. The order still took two days to dispatch, leaving no realistic window for it to arrive before my wedding. Parcelforce then made two failed delivery attempts despite my having registered a safe place on their app and leaving a written note on the door.
When I contacted customer service, there was no one to call. My email was first answered by an AI with a generic, unhelpful response. When a human eventually replied, it was simply to quote their standard T&Cs with no genuine attempt to resolve the situation.
I am now abroad for my wedding and honeymoon without items I specifically ordered for the occasion, and have had to request the order be returned to sender.
A brand that trades on a premium reputation has no business offering this level of online service. Loyal customers deserve better.

visited the Birmingham store for the first time. Very impressed with the shirts that I purchased and top quality customer service especially from Aran.
THE ABSOLUTE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Dont even think about returning. It is a painful process. Dont think about getting a response via email (4-5 days!) and NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE (tried daily for 4 days). If you send an EMAIL - ZERO RESPONSE for a week...and then no response to my issue.
You should NOT BE IN BUSINESS if you cant support your products.

I bought some shirts as gift but got the size wrong. I've since sent it back for an exchange and got a mail that they've received the items on 13/4/2026. I'vent received the exchange or any other information concerning the returned items as at today 17/5/2026. The worst customer service I have ever had.

My experience with Hawes & Curtis has been extremely disappointing and falls far short of what I would expect from an established retailer.
I ordered two sweaters quite some time ago, and to this day they have not arrived. The tracking information has shown no meaningful updates for days—if not weeks—suggesting the parcel has been lost somewhere in transit. However, what is even more frustrating is how the company has handled the situation.
Communication has been slow to non-existent. When the customer service team does respond, the replies are generic and unhelpful, offering no concrete solution or sense of ownership. It feels as though once the payment is made, the customer is left entirely on their own.
For an international retailer, a basic level of transparency and proactive problem-solving should be standard. Instead, I’ve had to chase updates myself, with no real support from Hawes & Curtis.
Overall, the entire ordering and service experience comes across as unprofessional and unreliable. I will not be ordering from them again and cannot recommend them based on this experience.
