Avoid Halfords.

I sold my car a few months after taking out full Halfords Breakdown cover. I had decided to retire from driving, so I was not replacing it. They do not return any of the premium paid, & are most arrogant & rude on both the phone & by email.
They were no better with their full membership, nor their MOT.
This company needs to sort out their customer services. I do not know of anybody who has had a good experience with them.
Beware. Don't be taken in with the 'offers', they are false savings.

Unhelpful breakdown service @ Halfords

I feel very sad and I do believe i have been taken advantage of and deliberately given the wrong information. My car won't start, I called the breakdown service and I wasn't registered to them. I was told it would cost £110 to have a rescue operator reach me and with 30mins of labour time, try to get my car started and if it doesn't start, I would be taken to a garage of my choice within 10miles. The person came at 17.43, checked my battery and said the battery was fine and the problem was the starter motor and I need to take the car to the garage. He asked me where he could take the car to and I told him my local garage closed at 16.30 and he should give me a minute to think of alternatives, he abruptly walked away and drive off at 17.51. I put a call through to the breakdown service and was told to reach my garage and then revert when the garage would be available so someone could be sent out (no further fee was mentioned). After finalising with the garage, I placed a call through and was then told to pay more to have the recovery service as the previous funds paid was for the assist service. What if I was stranded in a strange place?

Dismayed.

I took a breakdown policy out with Halfords today and have not received the required email in order to access my documents. I have tried contacting them online and by phone and no answer. My online requests for assistance (using their Contact Us facility) disappear into the ether and when I ring their Customer Services I am put on a loop with no one answering. I rang them again on their actual breakdown number to see if they would answer that and again I was put on a loop. They took the money for the breakdown cover out of my account immediately.
