I can confirm all the other negative reviews are accurate. You cannot even use the website without being forced to do a number of things such as signing up and leaving a review. All it prompted me to do was come here and leave a negative review as you cannot use the website it’s a complete waste of time

In their early days, they were exceptional. They were the only site on the worker's side. Now they have changed, and in the worst possible way.

"Hypocritical" is the word that defines them: they carry out recruitment for companies. How can any sensible person think they are on the worker's side when it is the company paying them?

Coincidentally, a couple of critical reviews I wrote about two major companies have vanished. As if that weren't enough, they now DEMAND that you write for them, otherwise they won't let you read a thing. Fine, so I wrote negative reviews about them. Obviously, they didn't approve the review, citing some flimsy excuses.

I honestly don't know what these people are thinking, claiming to grant me the "privilege" of working for them for free. Indeed, negative reviews are pouring in on other sites.

Worst website ever. Before you can do anything you're blocked or hounded for personal info. Then it wants you to leave a review in exchange to see anything. Absolutely awful experience.

The worst source of industry information. Anyone can write anything about anyone - what is the point? In addition I was forced to fill in what university I am at and the same time as who my current employer is?! Baffling and useless.

Useful website once, not utterly unusable. Even once you register they won't stop asking you to give more information. I literally just wanted to see the reviews of one company and couldn't even do that without requests for me to give more personal information and write reviews myself? Truly bizarre.

Bothered me unsolicited and then does not take ‘no’ for an answer.

The process of removing negative comments by administrators is arbitrary (no justification provided), even when no site rules and guidelines are breached.

I wanted to read company reviews on the site Glassdoor.com, and once coming to the site I was forced to set up a profile/account. I did this, as it seemed like a fairly reasonable request, but when I tried to read reviews, I was forced to leave a review to read them. THAT is straight garbage. Get rid of that stipulation, as it is in my opinion worse than a pay wall.

The yelp of job search. Can't trust a single thing on here. Companies pay for fake reviews and to have bad reviews removed, or prevent them being posted in the first place. Also seems highly likely that they're outing authors' identities to employers. Do not post here if you value anonymity!

I have been looking for a job for almost 4 years. I have used sites like LinkedIn, Indeed, Monster, Career Builders, Robert Half etc. I have only found scam jobs. I started using Glassdoor about a month ago. I have already received 3 valid phone calls, have had two face to face interviews and was offered a position today. Wish I had known about Glassdoor 4 years ago.

My corporation was dissolved in 2022, Glassdoor continues to list a job posting from that corporation. When asked to remove the job listing Glassdoor states that only an authorized representative, from a 3-year dissolved company, can remove the listing. I never posted a listing on Glassdoor but Glassdoor continues to falsely and fraudulently list the posting.

Glassdoor's sole aim is to extract negative reviews from businesses through user submissions, then indirectly force companies to pay to remove those reviews. This website is rife with blatant lies, slander, and fabricated information in its reviews. With 93% negative reviews on Glassdoor, it's clear this website is extremely disliked. Its indifference to numerous false reports severely damages the reputations of many businesses. The sheer number of negative reviews on Glassdoor demonstrates its moral depravity and lack of social responsibility.

Glassdoor is squeezing reviews from the people who just try to open their site to simply read the reviews of the potential employers, and it;s pretty annoying, as well as their nosy intention to know your salary up to the last pence, and they ask plenty of personal details which is not their business

In my view, Glassdoor's comment ecosystem is clearly unbalanced: the platform more easily attracts negative voices, while its lack of transparency regarding the authenticity of comments, evidence requirements, and appeal/correction mechanisms results in high costs for many companies when facing exaggerated, inaccurate, or even potentially malicious content. What's even more objectionable is that when companies attempt to clarify or resolve disputes, it often creates the impression that "only by paying for more enterprise-side services can they have a better chance of improving their presentation and communication"—a business model that easily raises questions about whether the platform is condoning controversial content in exchange for profit. If the platform consistently and passively handles clearly distorted information, it will not only cause substantial damage to corporate reputations but also erode job seekers' trust in the platform's information. A responsible career information platform should prioritize "authenticity, verifiability, appeal mechanisms, and error correction" over commercialization.

I’ve used Glassdoor as a job seeker and as someone trying to share honest workplace and interview experiences. Over time, I’ve grown skeptical of how reliable the platform actually is. This is not because all reviews are fake or altered (though many are), but because the moderation process feels opaque, uneven and corrupted.
Reviews and portions of reviews can be removed or hidden with little explanation beyond generic policy language. When that happens, it’s difficult to understand what rule was violated or how to revise the content in a way that would be acceptable. From a user standpoint, that lack of clarity erodes confidence and trust.
Glassdoor also allows employers to flag and dispute reviews, which is publicly stated in their own help documentation. In practice, this creates a power imbalance. Employers (Especially well-resourced ones) can repeatedly challenge critical feedback, while individual reviewers have limited visibility into how those disputes are resolved. It’s has seemingly become a pay-to-play website now and is not geared for the use and safety of the worker/consumer.
There’s also a HUGE unavoidable perception issue. Glassdoor earns revenue from employers through job postings and branding products. Even if the company maintains that this doesn’t influence moderation, the business model creates a clear conflict-of-interest risk. When negative reviews disappear or ratings don’t appear to reflect recent feedback, it’s hard not to question whether users are seeing the full picture.
I’m not claiming EVERY profile is manipulated, but as a user, I can’t consistently tell whether what I’m reading reflects the complete set of experiences or a filtered version shaped by disputes and moderation decisions.
Glassdoor could rebuild trust by being far more transparent and provide clearer explanations when content is removed, provide visible audit trails for disputed reviews, and stronger safeguards to ensure critical feedback isn’t effectively buried. Until then, the platform is useful as a starting point, but not something I’d rely on without cross-checking elsewhere.

You are forced to leave a review in order to view content. Furthermore, after I left a review in which I provided current, accurate pay information for the company in question, Glassdoor REMOVED MY REVIEW because "We have determined that your salary submission does not meet these guidelines because it is well or excessively below the market average." Yeah. And? That is what the company pays. I don't control that and if the company is paying well below the industry average that is exactly the sort of feedback and information Glassdoor is - in theory - supposed to expose/allow you to find via these reviews from actual employees. With this in mind I don't feel you can trust the information presented on Glassdoor to actually be accurate.

Wanted to add a review, which is supposed to be anonymous, but it asks for my exact location, which I don't want to add, as I'm the only one in the company in that location. In other words, it's not anonymous!

This apo is absolutely worthless and a COMPLETE pain to use!
