Avoid this company at all cost

Avoid this company at all cost. Terrible customer service, they don't care about the tenants after they sign an agreement, only care about getting the most money with least care. Portland Place is a joke, the people working there are a joke too. Avoid. Great area to live in, but avoid GetLiving.

FLATS FALLING APART.

FLATS FALLING APART.
We are paying over £3,000 for a property that is a health and safety hazard with no clear dial settings on the oven. The kitchen itself is falling apart with the door fronts cracked and chipped with the cheep quality lacquer pealing off.
The hot water tap never runs hot, the carpets are disgusting with past tenants stains all over them.

We have flagged this with Get Living and they have said they will not update any of the above.

Am looking to move property.

Avoid like Covid

Horrible flats
Regularly left without hot water during winter
Will try to take advantage of you and won't stick to the tenancy agreement knowing you won't bother to take legal action

Middlewood locks- good but could be better

I live in the Middlewood Locks complex. Don’t get me wrong the complex is lovely and living areas are nice however we have had many issues. Consistently without hot water, now without heating. Also issues with security. All this whilst justifying rent increases with them providing these services. When security issue was brought up, they told me they didn’t have time to deal with it and that it was my issue. Need a more personable response to issues as I am not the only one feeling this way.

Satisfied

Many people dislike them but honestly I think they are doing an amazing job. I used to rent from private landlords without heating refusing to fix the oven etc. They would always come in time, would fix anything I submit a ticket for the next day. The apartment is lovely - yes sometimes it's loud, sometimes neighbours are not respecting the communal areas but issues are resolved within a few days. I'd strongly recommend them even now that their prices have gone up it is a good value for money.

Do not use Get Living

Applied for a Get Living property, after initially accepting, they then went back on their offer because the information they had about my partner previously living in a Get Living property was incorrect.
They waited weeks to tell us, leaving us without accommodation. Then had to chase them multiple times in order to get the advance deposit payment returned.
I would not recommend them at all.

It is very difficult to get refund

I stay in East village for over a year, the new contract is only 6 months and I fulI pay in advance, after 2 months I moved out, they promised to refund the advance rental within a weeks, but now is over 2 months, I still not yet received it. Don’t trust this company.

Disgraceful landlord. Steer clear.

Disgraceful landlord.

We rented with GetLiving for 12 months, after which they proposed to hike the monthly rate up by £200 for renewal. For this, they offer very little in return compared to any other cladded tower block from which they also fleece current and prospective tenants.

You are not a person in their eyes, just a vessel to satiate investor profits. If landlordism wasn’t already a leech on society, by renting with this company you will find yourself right in the belly of the capitalist pig. Steer clear.

Getliving plays tricks on the lease

Getliving office plays tricks on the lease. Our agreement in offer is 24 months rent with 12 months break clause and we are required to pay 12 months in advance as we are students. Then they wrote the lease without a tenant break clause for us but included "landlord break clause" section for us to sign. They made it an unfair lease in this way. Futhermore the landlord break clause says: "we may end the tenancy by... any time after 6 months". We will pay the rent 12 months in advance and they may end tenancy in 6 months???
When I ask for 12 months break clauses for both tenants and landlord, they kept landlord break clause as it is. They didnt include "tenant break clause" section but added "giving notice before end of fixed term" section for us saying "you may give us notice of your intention to end the tenancy". giving notice?Intention to end tenancy? They made it so vague, unlike they how they wrote "landlord break clause" saying "we may end tenancy...". See the tricks they play? When I asked them to edit, they refused and replied "clauses come fixed as they are". They wrote "landlord break clause" section properly for them, and wrote "giving notice" section very vague for us.
I was thinking fine if they dont want to do break clause, I asked for 12 months rent without any break clause instead and they said OK and changed it. The lease becomes 12 months but the landlord break clause at 6 months is still there.... When I asked again if they can remove all break clauses he said the "landlord break clause is the clause we put in all our leases for students paying in advance". They require us students to pay 12 months in advance and include landlord break clause that may evict us after 6 months???
They play tricks on the lease to us students and I can show you how exactly they wrote it if you want to know. We already paid holding deposit and if you have any suggestions for me please let me know.

Horrible customer experience, flats are falling apart...

Horrible customer experience. I have been a tenant for many, many years and they never respond to any emails. Phoning them is exactly the same, they are never able to give you any information or have the appropriate people come to the phone to resolve issues.

Their flats are already falling apart- we had 2 major plumbing issues over the last 2 months that were not promptly resolved. I know loads of tenants in the new buildings who have constantly been having issues with their flats too- so it's not just the old flats that have issues.

Sadly, they used to be a good landlord, they have declined steadily over the last 3-4 years in terms of tenant experience. Their rents have gone up by about 25% over the last 3 years. Definitely not good value for money, you are better off with a different landlord in the area.

They don't appreciate loyalty either. It's a shame really- I used to be very happy renting with them. Not anymore!
