I could have bought a 20 month supply of Ozempic or Mounjaro for the amount spent on the balloon which deflated around the 90 day mark. I'm 4 days after the warranty expired and I didn't take the extended warranty (looks like these balloons were never meant to last the 4 months stated, feel conned). Don't get me wrong I have lost 15 pounds about a pound a week. I could have done the same for less money and less discomfort. (The insertion and the body trying to reject the balloon for two plus days is no cruise.) The aftercare tapers off and it feels like self service. I have a busy job with lots of online meetings so unscheduled calls between 9-5 are not helpful. The app is basic compared with other food diaries and very US based so had to continue using my fitbit food diary. I had so many calls prior to buying to make sure it was right for me but felt a hard sell at the same time. The consultant who inserted couldn't have been less friendly or seem to want to be anywhere but there that day albeit lovely on phone for pre- checks. The diet and fitness advice can be found free all over web. Hand on heart can't recommend...hi ho it's off to Ozempic I go.

My experience of having a gastric balloon through the Gastric Balloon Group has been exemplary.
6 months since the procedure. I decided to go for the 6 month balloon. Went for the procedure at the end of October. Balloon removed end of February - it deflated itself. I have lost 31 kg (just under 5 stone).
The team especially Sam have been so helpful and supportive from the very start. Always with advice and assistance and I would strongly suggest attending the team seminars as you learn so much which is also really helpful.
I have received constant support throughout this journey and have a catch up call with Sam on a monthly basis as a general check in, although, if needed he is always available any time.

From the start of my journey with GBG last year, they have been extremely helpful. Whether it was through email or phone conversations.. they have answered any concerns or queries.
They have also been very accommodating to help me when iv had to move dates/locations of procedure.
You have access to the App and everything is available to you use however much or little.
They sent check in emails but also gave the option that if everything was going OK you could opt out of a phonecall app. I personally found this great as you don't always want/like be called for continuously for well being checks.
It's down to you how much effort you put in to the app and attending the courses.
But every interaction I have had has been great.
If you are seriously thinking of getting a balloon. I highly recommend them

Would not recommend this company. I had the 12 month balloon inserted last April and was scheduled to have it removed today. On arrival at the clinic, just as I was about to enter the premises, I received a telephone call cancelling the procedure due to the consultant being ill. The clinic is over an hour from my home.
Now for those of you who do not know what is involved with the removal, you need to fast and be on a liquid diet for 4 days. On the day of the procedure, you are required to bring someone with you to drive you home as you will be sedated. This means 2 people taking time off work. This cancellation has resulted in lost time at work, limited diet for 4 days resulting in a lot of hunger etc. and impacted my wellbeing with the company response which was simply “we are sorry but there is nothing else we can do”.
You are also told that if you do not follow the pre removal diet and there are any traces of solid foods in your stomach, the procedure may be abandoned at a cost of £1000 to the client.
I believe that failing to uphold the same level of accountability as a service provider as expected from a client is a breach of professionalism and contract. It is also double standards on behalf of the company.
Along with all of this, the balloon itself isn’t the best weight loss option. You loose weight initially because of the sickness and diarrhoea… never mind the hair loss. Then your body adjusts and you plateau.
I have made a formal complaint today and I am to receive a response within 20 days. The telephonist who took my call back refused to allow me to speak to the Managing Director also.

Got ready for a pre planned procedure arranged by yourselves. This involved me taking time off my business causing me to shut my shop for 3 days. This also caused issues because of my mother being disabled, my brother took time off work to look after my mother due to my absence. Received a phone call at 9:50 the day of my appointment telling me that they can’t go ahead due to being no balloon at the surgery. Bear in mind this was a pre planned procedure. I explained this has now caused me financial problems, due to the fact I’m self employed and having to now take time off for the next appointment. I expressed my concerns, and they said there’s nothing the can do about it. I then contacted customer care again and they said it’s not their problem. I explained I will make a formal complaint however they weren’t interested. My feedback on trustpilot is to make people aware of how this company operates. From this I would not recommend. As it just seems once they have your money, they are not interested afterwards.

I'm sharing my review & my current journey to help anyone who is considering having the Gastric balloon put in.
I'm currently 5 weeks in with the balloon & have lost nearly 2 stone already! I chose the Obera 365 balloon which is for 12 months as I felt this option suited me best. I've had some sickness which has mainly been due to me adjusting to the amount of food & fluid my stomach can comfortably hold at one time, but u get used to the amount your stomach can consume, its just abit of trial & error to begin with. I cant feel the balloon in place & have never had any pain with it either.
Regarding GBG what can I say about this company besides giving them 10/10. From start to finish everyone involved in my procedure, before & after care have been so kind, polite & very helpful. From Hayley who originally provided me with all the info I needed to consider having the balloon in, she chatted me through the process over the phone & gave me answers to all my questions & concerns with no pressure for me to have the procedure whatsoever. I spoke with the consultant who performed the procedure & the GBG nursing team all ahead of procedure day, who checked I was happy with the arrangements & again checked if I had any concerns.
The procedure itself was fine, I was sedated so felt nothing & I was very well looked after at St Josephs in Newport. The aftercare I've received has been fantastic too & I know I can contact GBG 24/7 via their app for full support from healthcare team to nutritionists. The app even has plenty of recipes & dietary advice & weightloss fitness videos to help u push along your weightloss.
I paid for my procedure in full but there was the option to pay part deposit & the rest on 0% interest finance. If you are seriously considering having a gastric balloon, I cant recommend this company enough. I'm not normally a person that leaves reviews on anything but credit where credit is due, this company has been great.

I had the Orbera365 17th May 2024, everything seemed ok at the beginning, but three months later I will still being sick most days and also making myself sick because the pain in my chest was so bad. The last week in August, after not keeping any fluids down, I was admitted to hospital with fatally low potassium levels. So low it took four days in hospital, nine bags of potassium and one day in ICU so they could put the line directly into my neck, just to get my potassium to a safe level where they could remove the balloon, which had dislodged. The doctors were shocked I had not been requested to get blood tests or asked to go back for a check up. Threes months of being sick constantly and nearly dying, £5500 debt and I was only offered £1000 refund as GBG didn't need to take the balloon out. Yes I knew there may be some risks but I didn't realise leaving my son without a mother might be one of them.

Helpful and caring staff .
This has been a major help is the feeling they care . Easily booked and payment plans if needed , lots of information provided at different times , scales provided and an app that seems complicated but early days for me .
First few days sickness , subsided on day 3 so looking forward to the future and will update in the future but for now I recommend.

I want to put an honest review in here and am not interested in GBG responding by telling me I lost a few pounds and was very successful in my first few weeks or that they contacted me multiple times. You will notice that the vast majority of the positive reviews on here are from patients that are in the very early stages (and I mean days) of having had their balloon inserted and the negative ones are those that have lived through the full experience. In my opinion the only reason I lost weight initially is because I was so sick I couldn't eat. It's quite simple. Plus drinking lots of water as advised as with any diet you start, you will lose water weight first before any fat begins to burn. I have the 12 month balloon currently and I'm 5 months in. The warranty they offer ensures that no refunds are given. If you are intolerant within 30 - 90 days and have to have the balloon removed they will offer a partial refund. But when you feel you can't tolerate it and you contact them they put you on the phone to a soft spoken nurse who basically gives you lots of nonsense advice like drink pineapple juice and persevere. So once the 90 days is gone there is no longer an option to recoup any money. Additionally if the balloon ruptures which is an absolutely horrific experience the option is to have another one placed! Who in their right mind having gone through that would want to risk that experience again? And they know this. So they are fully set up to ensure that they take your money and keep it. For me, I have been unwell since day 1. Constantly sick with pain, sulphur burps, acid reflux, constipation and or diarrhea. It has been a horrific and awful experience and if I knew then what I know now I would have kept my +€6000 and used it for ANYTHING else. My next step now is to request early removal and put this nightmare behind me. I sincerely hope I won't be charged for the privilege.
