I've been using Gamejolt for a while,it's probably one of the most friendly communities I've been apart of. The website is easy to use and the average joe can understand it almost instantly.
I definitely recommend.

Gamejolt is amazing

Honestly gotta say, five stars from me. It’s really got pretty much everything I like eg. FNAF, indie horror, and hey even the fan games vary from good to bad in quality but it’s worth giving them a shot because they’re still really good. Hey even while in the midst of making a game myself it’s still the easiest site I’ve found so far to upload stuff to. Even if there’s something that you like but isn’t on there, then you could make a community for it and hopefully it’ll attract others. TLDR: GameJolt is amazing :)

I love it

The platform is safe, fun, and incredibly welcoming. I joined it 6 years ago but only started actively using it about half a year ago and I've met so many amazing people (fellow artists, game devs, etc.) through its various communities. Game Jolt is great for getting your talent out there, building your community, and making friends. It's like if twitter were good + so much more.

Ups and downs

Gamejolt has ups and downs. It was fun place to visit when I joined in about 9 years ago. Finding games, with or without trophies, was some fun things to do there back then.
The flood of FNAF clones and horror games there was too much though.
Over time, things has changed and now Gamejolt has become more like social media + game site.
It kinda split m e into two cause on one side, it's harder to find good games there recently but on other side, we get to meet artists which are not developers.

Discord

Discord, Twiiter, Itch.io. All in one website, and could be improved a lot but a large choice for Gamers and content creators.

Great experience overall

Great experience, and I'm glad it exists. I've moved here from Twitter and it's so much better.

Comparing to Twitter - there is a strong focus on gaming at GameJolt (it's in the name) and other topics don't gain as much traction. But for gamers and game developers, there's nothing better.

A large majority of the audience seems to be focused on Five Nights at Freddy's, but other games do have their own communities where they thrive.

Overall it's a fantastic community environment, a great experience for creators, and their charged sticker approach is a unique and fair way to handle advertising revenue for creators.

There is a bit of a learning curve due to how unique their approach is, but you don't have to do everything at once & can learn how stuff works at your own pace.

I wish they had better API tooling, but as a developer I'm likely in the minority for that & they can always improve this later.

Strongly recommend GameJolt. Come say hi @LeigerGaming on there if you join.

Great Media Platform For ANY Type of Content!

As an artist and frequent user, I can say I enjoy using Gamjolt! The community is nice, and you can find great content on there!

BEST place to sell and share games!

I've been using Gamejolt for a while now, and I've had ZERO issues with it! (The only thing slightly wrong is that people can post nasty stuff and it will take a bit to be removed and for the user to be banned.)

You can sell, promote, and share the progress of your own games and even post ANY type of content, not just games!

Would recommend! And to any people doubting the website based on the 1 star reviews, it's relatively safe 👍👍
(PS there is some stuff not safe for all ages. To the staff, I suggest adding a profanity and an image blur filter)

Meh...?

I've got a pretty cool community on the platform, however the moderation is a mess and I've had a piece of art taken down for a "justified" reason, barely fitting the lines of it, really.
It's alright though, Caroline from the support team is number 1

GameJolt is a gem platform for indie games

I have been an active user of Gamejolt for almost nine years now and have witnessed a lot of positive changes on the platform. I have come across some negative reviews about the platform, but I must say that they are incorrect.

Considering the small size of the Gamejolt team, it is understandable that they cannot moderate millions of daily posts. However, they have provided a report button which works effectively when the report information is properly filled. The team responds quickly to valid reports, which shows their dedication to providing a safe and secure community.

The Gamejolt team is easily accessible via email for any concerns or questions. I have contacted them through email for years and have never had any issues. Therefore, I recommend that anyone who doubts this should double-check the information.

Gamejolt is an amazing community with a diverse range of creators, including game developers, artists, musicians, and even cake cooks. You can easily connect with other creators who share the same interests as you.

Over the years, the platform has grown and improved with new features, such as the Gamejolt creator program, which shows the team's continuous effort to make the right choices for the platform's future.

In conclusion, Gamejolt is a safe and secure platform to grow as a content creator or to enjoy the creations of others. I highly recommend it. See you there!

gamejolt wrongly bans innocents ALL THE TIME.
people can get banned for jokes that they clarify are jokes
people can get banned for doing the right thing

mods have a poorly disguised fetish (poopapalooza)
intense focus on microtransactions (joltbux)

overall just really sucky, don't bother, prob moving to tumblr or something cause this place sucks

All in one social media

Overall a really good social media, that can work like a Twitter/Instagram/Discord with itch.io-like-games, has some flaws, like pretty poor moderation system, but still very good.

The mods and staff are terrible. i do not recommend at all.

The mods and staff are terrible.
This post on the site explains MOST of it:
https:// gamejolt. com/p/dear-gamejolters-really-important-please-read-about-gamejolt-up5mrmc5

If you dont wanna read it, basically,

The mods ban people every WEEK for stuff that other people do DAILY.
You can make a joke about a community YOURE IN and they’ll PERMANENTLY BAN YOU without looking into it.
I have been Timed-Out (temp banned) once for telling people to report an account hijacker, and another time for telling people NOT TO SAY SLURS IN MY DISCORD. Both occurrences for “harassment” yet the hacker’s account is still up.
There have been PORN ACCOUNTS that lasted 14x longer than my posts about the hackers and stuff.

There are RAID GROUPS that HACK AND DOX and gamejolt havent banned their accounts at ALL.

They take criticism so poorly too, if you complain or even politely say that there’s a moderation problem, they’ll either ignore you or just say ”no, its perfectly fine!!” And continue their day.

They also most defo use AI for moderation but they deny it.

ALSO, AN IMPORTANT THING.
Someone I knew ran a gamejolt Community for Super Mario Brothers. A community is a little group where people post about a specific topic.
One day, this unqualified tiktoker joined, got verified, and was immediately given the whole community just because they cosplayed MARIO.
The community was years old and was REALLY successful too, they gave away someone’s work just because an INTERNET CELEBRITY who just threw games off bridges while dressed up as mario (im not even kidding, that was their entire account on tt) JOINED THE SITE ONE DAY.
I wouldnt be shocked if they paid him to join honestly.
They gaslit the original owner into deleting their account and then gamejolt removed all posts that had anything to do with the situation.

The site has MASSIVE issues regarding their response to users and the community, and shouldn’t be encouraged.

5 Years on Game Jolt and I still want to keep using it

Game Jolt is amazing. It's really cool to have a social network that is literally about video games. There are others that have the same proposal but it's nothing compared

Game jolt has always been one of my salvations to make friends again and still manage to have my big game published "Boby in miracle land"
Not only that but as there are so many talented people on this site which is beautiful to see, the creators should be proud to have designed this site

and as a member of the website "MarcusSilvaGamesBR" I'm proud that I'm still posting my arts, creating more games and making people happy
Game jolt has to move forward like all the social networks nowadays that are still standing

A hug and good night :)
