Avoid soft play
The soft play equipment is dirty and there is food within the playframe and on the floor, this could be a high risk if you have a child with allergies. Children are able to gain access to the fire escape through a zip exit within the playframe. There is not a staff member in any part of the soft play area and they don’t even check what is happening in there. I emailed to complain and have not had a response.

Chatteris gym
Chatteris gym. No preventative maintenance on equipment, something needs to fall off for anyone to notice, the members can often be seen finger tightening the loose screws on the machines. One rack and one full sized olympic bar for the entire gym and, hilariously, every new member gets advised to use that over the machines by the employees. Half of men's lockers are permanently locked (broken keys or hinges), the remainder don't get cleaned very often. Despite being poor value for moneys as is - the price keeps creeping up, with the most commonly verbalised excuse of members able to use a better freedomleisure gym next town over. At least the floors and machines are hoovered and mopped regularly.
Marina centre Gt Yarmouth
Marina centre Gt. Yarmouth.
Never seen such a filthy place, I went to swim this morning, had to wait over an hour to swim as lifeguards were off sick, bearing in mind it’s Easter Sunday, start of the season, not good. Toilets were dirty, there was urine up the corner in a toilet cubicle, it stank, asked @ reception if there was a cleaner in the building and she said ‘yes, she’s making her way round the centre’ I said she needs to do the pool change first, I have seen dirty nappy on floor a couple of weeks ago in there, utterly disgusting! Eventually got in the pool @ 9.40, should have opened @ 8.15! Then there was one lifeguard for both pools & it was very busy. Not good overall. I have photos of the nappy on the floor.
Drop in standards
Staff are helpful & friendly whether at the front desk, coffee shop or when giving an induction.
My concern is mainly regarding Health & Safety. The cleanliness of toilets nearest the coffee shop area seem to be a higher standard. The ladies changing room on ground level are often unacceptable.
Black mould is often visible behind taps of hand basins & at the base of the tiled wall & floor in the shower cubicles.
Water machine on one level hasn't worked for weeks now.
Very rarely presence of staff in the gym unless they come in for a group, an induction or one-to-one pre-booked session.
A few machines aren't working properly so following my programme as recommended to me is impossible.
I am disappointed as it isn't anything like it used to be.
The app rarely works nowadays
The app rarely works nowadays . Frequently can’t book or cancel classes as app and their computer system is down
Like OMG!
Like OMG!! Whomever manages this facility should be ashamed of themselves. The main pool is so cold that its dangerous to get in if you're elderly. The manager refuses to heat the pool due to costs. Staff often tell me this as I am or used to be a regular there until the manager started to leave the heating off for the pool. I've been in bed for two days with a high fever due to the pool being freezing cold. The staff always blame management. Also they only have one lifeguard on during the evening swims and this is dangerous for everyone. Toilets absolutely stink of Urine. The family changing rooms are supposed to be for family and not for single men to change. We use the family rooms to keep our children safe but freedom leisure seems only concerned with making money.
Gym experience
Friendly welcoming helpful staff from the desk to the gym. However it is quite noticeable that not all PTs have the same work ethic such as keeping the gym clean, tidy and hygienic between clients.
This makes it feel a different place when they chose to sit in the small office, with no engagement with the gym users .

I had a disappointing experience at the gym due to poor management. I waited for 20 minutes at the cable machine while a group of kids occupied it, despite asking them to swap. After approaching the manager multiple times, he promised to address the situation but ultimately did nothing. When I requested compensation for the inconvenience, he refused to help. It's frustrating to see such a lack of care for client satisfaction. I hope they improve their management in the future.
Freedom Leisure Centre in March is…
Freedom Leisure Centre in March is excellent. My Mum is 83 and has been a happy customer for a few years. Thank you Lorenzo for an excellent class this morning.
Staff are helpful and friendly, but...
Staff are helpful and friendly, but what awful marketing. No prices on websites, and you have to ring every leisure centre in your area separately to find out the prices. Also, the websites are so clunky to use to find out what is offered in each leisure centre. the websites are right out of the 2000s and badly need updating. Do the councils who own the leisure centres know how bad they are at encouraging new membership?
Overpriced and badly run
This company is pretty much holding us to ransom in this area, they own all the leisure centres in a 10 mile radius to me. They are horribly expensive for something so badly run at £56 per month for full membership. My husband is currently a member as he thought it would be better after having a big refurb last year. Sadly, there are still running machines that are broken for months at a time even when he complains to staff, nothing gets fixed. I mainly want to go to classes, but the really popular ones (zumba in Lymington is prime example) are very hard to get booked on to, but they never put on more to cope with demand. I get regular emails, offering deals to rejoin, I was finally going to give in and do it. I followed the link, offering 12 months for the price of 9 (and still felt robbed), get to the payment section, and there was no discount. These centres used to be council run, then the contract was given to freedom who supposedly run them as non profit. If this is the case, I think they should take some lessons from the likes of pure gym who seem to be able to make profit whilst charging half the price. On a positive point, the day to day staff you encounter are on the whole fantastic, this is clearly a higher management issue.
So bad
So bad. Matt the manager is utterly rude and passive aggressive. Wouldn’t recommend.
Freedom Leisure at Wincanton Leisure…
Freedom Leisure at Wincanton Leisure Centre. What a joke. They only appear to care about attracting new members with continuous special offers. They show no interest in looking after existing members many who have been loyal members for many years or in retaining staff. They are putting up membership prices while reducing classes due to an inability to attract new staff. There is absolute no communication to members regarding classes/teachers leaving etc. Before Christmas the lights n the spinning studio had been broken for months without any rush to fix. This should be seen as a community asset.
Not the best experience
I went to Uckfield Leisure Center today between 11 and 2. The pool was very cold. Saying that though most pools at Leisure Centres are. There was sand in the pool and the changing rooms were very dirty. The sauna and steam room that I looked forward to the most weren't even open and saw no notice anywhere. The floaties were fun and the staff were kind and helpful.
Freedom leisure’s running of Guildford Lido
Freedom leisure’s running of the wonderful Guildford lido is woefully bad, they do as little as they can get away with.
The lido could be promoted far more, be a lot busier with clubs, classes, social events, it’s a disgracefully underused Guildford asset.
They’re not even taking part in the swimathon next spring.
Poor show.
Attended Freedom Leisure pool in March…
Attended Freedom Leisure pool in March Cambridgeshire for a few years enjoying a seniors discount that they had offered as pre-requisit
to running the facility, when this time ran out it went up in price from £15 per person per annum to £240
Per person. We are in our 80s we cannot afford £480 per annum and it's dangerous for us to use the pool
At weekends School holidays etc
and their charging regime has been cleverly put together to force customers on to annual memberships, just check it.
We stopped going several years ago because of this, not a good company at all in my opinion.
De stafford leisure centre totally unreliable
Wanted to take grandchildren to inflatable session. Checked it was on at reception twice and checked the web page three times. Turned up and it had been cancelled. Lad on reception disinterested, second employee laughed. Manager on duty was too busy to speak to me and when I got stroppy said it wasn't her fault. This is the third time they have cancelled sessions that are still advertised as available on their on their Web page. Can't reply on any of their timetables.
Guildford Lido gym closure
Guildford Lido gym closure. It's an excellent weights gym but Freedom Leisure have decided to keep it open for only just over 4 months of the year. It used to be open all year round and was busy, well managed, and well looked after. Now it's totally the opposite. Whoever calls the shots should be removed and replaced by someone who actually knows what they're doing. There's zero promotion and they wonder why they can't get more members. It's absolutely pathetic. What a waste of a very good gym. Terrible management.
South Downs Leisure Centres are much better
Freedom Leisure needs to be replaced by the much better South Down Leisure to run sports centres. South Downs Leisure centres are clean and the staff are well trained, friendly and helpful and don't sit around doing little. I hope the King Alfred Leisure Centre in Hove is taken over by South Downs Leisure. I've used them both and there is a massive difference.
We booked swimming lessons for our…
We booked swimming lessons for our children, my child had a traumatic experience, the whole operation was disorganised and after complaining I have received not one email or phone call after trying numerous times to contact the swim team to resolve this issue.
