victim of break in due to poor security
Firstly , the positives. the villa was lovely and very well equipped, the pool was beautiful, no complaints there.
The bad
1. We were victim of a burglary at the villa, which was very traumatic to our family. The outer front doors were only secured with one lock and the thieves simply yanked the door open. The inner doors were also defective with the bottom retaining bolt facing to drop into the hole in the floor. This made the inner doors be able to be pushed open whilst locked. The break in required very little physical force and the security should have been better. We were robbed of jewellery and some money. We had to call the police ourselves and when the came the next day they admitted the doors should have been more secure. They also mentioned the property should have security cameras and even better an alarm. According to police the area has a lot of break ins over the summer
We also raised an issue where one of the rear doors had no locks and was secured by a small bolt from the inside. This is apparently okay according to Foravilla, but this rear door could be easily pulled open from the outside so we had barricade the door from the inside.
2. the villa whilst lovely is very remote after the break in , we did not feel at all secure. My children were very scared there would be a second break in whilst we were staying there.
The village owners did add an extra lock to the outer front door, which was appreciated but the inner door was not secured further and neither was the rear door.
We had to spend the last two days of our holiday filing police reports and facilitating police visits whilst having a feeling of general unease in the property. We were denied any good will payment for the 2 days of our week which we lost to this and other than a passing acknowledge of our distress there was no compensation bought about by the poor security of the villa.
We would not stay here again because of the security issues and feel its fair to include this in our review.
