A company of mine received a demand from these shysters, for a property never occuppied, owned. My company has never had any utilities supplied .On speaking to British Gas they confirmed they have no record of this account no./Address.
I have been letting and managing properties for over 20 years, running a Letting agency,so have many years of exeperience dealing with these type of people. My advice is - Do not attempt to contact them at all Report them to - British Gas Customer Service include a copy of the offending demand. I reported them to Brtish gas,and Trading Standards.

The joke that is British Gas now using solicitors letters in an attempt to harass.
Despite contacting British Gas telling them to send physical bills they continue to send bills by email.
After having continued issues with their pathetic app and constantly having to change log in details I contacted them and was told bill would be sent , needless to say they weren't!
More ridiculous is "British" Gas use South African call centres ! After calling BG they accepted it was their mistake and actually gave me £100 discount for the "inconvenience"
British Gas is pathetic and using solicitors to threaten people when there actually completely in the wrong is disgusting
British Gas choose without notification to stop sending paper bills so unless you use email you haven't a clue you've actually got a bill to pay !
Of course clowns like these "solicitors" don't have a clue as to BG practises and simply try bully tactics and threats.
And the fact BG only point of contact is a South African call centre is farcical especially trying to have a conversation with a person with a very strong accent and ridiculous time delay on the line .
Using dodgy "solicitors" just adds to the poor customer experience with "British" gas ......

Utterly diabolical - wrote to a 86 year old - threatening them with a 'legal letter' for a £00.00 balance. Assuming they are paid by their client British Gas for sending this letter. How many other clients get letters threating for a £0.00 balance - this is bullying in the extreme and solicitors making money out of sending letters with £0.00 balances. Spoke to them on the phone and they said the case has been closed (they dont send letters for this apparently). Shame on Flint Bishop - making money on the back of their client British Gas - shame on British Gas for engaging with Flint Bishop.

We are in our 70s and have moved house, using Flint Bishop for conveyancing, after over 40 years in the same home.
Our experience with Sukhy Kandola, Lauren and the team has been excellent. Everything was explained to us and queries via email were answered quickly. This made an initially rather daunting process much easier and we felt in good hands throughout.

Absolute bullies and inhuman.
I have been in an ongoing battle with British Gas for 2 years now, and have recently started receiving threats from Flint Bishop demanding money that I do not owe. They have continuously harassed me for months via email, phone calls, texts, letters despite me providing evidence that the sums of money are incorrect, proof of a payment plan and explaining my stress-induced epilepsy which has worsened during the ordeal. I am now not just battling British Gas but these absolute BULLIES of a company. Disgusting attitude and quite frankly diabolical attitude towards the disabled.

Recieved a letter from this company on 2/8/24 saying I owed British Gas £1249.91. Upon checking my gas bills I discovered I had not been sent a gas bill since October 2023. Phoned British Gas gave a reading and was assured I would be sent a bill straight away. Nothing happened! Why won't British Gas send me a bill? (which would be paid straight away). I have been a customer of British Gas since 1972 and always paid my bills on time. For some reason these solicitors decided to send the threatening letter to my wife who suffers from dementia and caused her much distress. They did not sign the letter so there is no one to contact. Perhaps Flint Bishiop will send me a gas bill as they must know what the £1249.91 is for or they would not have sent me the letter in the first place! I shall wait for a reply but I do not expect one. All I can say is W.A.L.O.W's.

I have had a very mixed experience with solicitors in general and also within Flint Bishop, but if they were all as helpful, prompt, knowledgeable and honest as Will Harper then I'm sure the company would excel. Too often solicitors use the clients lack of legal knowledge as a carte blanche to generate the maximum amount of revenue, but in Wills case he was always honest and upfront and clear in his explanations and directions. Dealing with him has been like a breath of fresh air and I would recommend his services to anyone.

Liars, frauds, liars, frauds...
Flint Bishop make fraudulent claims against businesses on behalf of their clients DESPITE being presented in writing with the facts to disprove their allegations.
Their disgusting behaviour begins the day your letter arrives asking you to contact them - no legal trained staff available on the phone at all, no response to emails and claims that you've not responded to them.
They take court action against you DESPITE the above then beg you to back down when you do the same to them. Disgusting firm, disgusting behaviour, lack of human staff it seems and categorically a firm which should be struck off from the solicitor register.
British Gas problems again. Oh dear Flint Bishop!!
We are a firm of Accountants acting on behalf of a pub client being sent demand letters from Flint Bishop for a British Gas account which is not theirs. The address they are sending these letters to is correct, but the addressee is not our client.
Have sent numerous letters to Flint Bishop trying to amicably sort this out, but a further demand letter received this morning has meant that I have had to waste more of my time telephoning them, but could not get past security! I wonder if that is anything to do with the account is not our clients(?)
I warned the person on the telephone that if they did not deal with this immediately, Flint Bishop would be referred to the Financial Ombudsman.

I see that Flint Bishop has neither commented on nor answered the questions I posted in my review a few weeks ago.
Just to recap - I made a complaint about Flint Bishop to the Legal Ombudsman. In February & March 2024, after the Legal Ombudsman had contacted them, Flint Bishop responded to my complaint and acknowledged they had provided a service that fell short of a reasonable standard and assessed the distress and inconvenience caused to me as "significant". However, they are only acknowledging what had been obvious to me all along. It is inexcusable that the Head of Conveyancing did not also recognise it at the time. This leads me into my main complaint/concern.
It has always been my understanding that a written agreement between two parties would apply unless and until different terms were agreed between the two parties. Flint Bishop does not appear to view it that way. I paid Flint Bishop £1,080 shortly after signing the engagement letter and I deserve answers/explanations as to how they can claim in their engagement letter that "Our professional duty is to act in your best interests and we confirm that your instructions are paramount". How was the Head of Conveyancing able to ignore/overrule my instructions & does Flint Bishop really believe they acted in my best interest?
Some of the reasons I ask include
a) There is nothing in the engagement letter or the Terms of Business which states she was allowed to do so.
b) The buyers' deserved/entitled to correct information about my home & I was legally obliged to provide them with correct information.
c) I do not understand why the Head of Conveyancing had such a problem with me for trying to ensure the buyers' received the correct information. I am confident that had she given me the correspondence/information
I requested we could have sorted out the mistakes & confusion that existed between themselves & the buyers' solicitor through the exchange of a few emails.
d) Most solicitors impress upon their clients the importance of reading and understanding what they are signing.
e) I put my questions above to the Legal Ombudsman & her response was "it is not our role to get you "answers" to your queries if they have not yet been answered by the firm."
So I shall keep asking Flint Bishop until I receive a reply from them.

We recently used Flint Bishop for conveyancing for the purchase of our new property. The team were very efficient and helpful. Sara Hanson in particular went above and beyond for us. Very pleased.

Elliot was our main contact and he was very helpful, he always had time to discuss issues thoroughly when we called and he kept us informed all through our house purchase which came with many setbacks. Emails were always receipt acknowledged and those emails were responded to promptly. Thank you very much.

Acting on behalf of British Gas, chasing money for bills I don't owe. I've never been with British Gas in my 30 years of owning a home.
Best of all they know it.
Why else would you in 2024 give your contact details as a fax number???
Avoid
To add after your reply.
Why should I email debt recovery - when I have no debt?
Your letters do not refer to me by name, but as the occupier. You know full well this is modern day ambulance chasing. We have contacted British Gas who acknowledge its an error, but still solicitors letter arrive. Maybe every now and then someone panics and pays, but this is not how business should be ethically run, its an attempt to prey on the gullible.

Spoke to Frankie and she was amazing. I say this as a person who has been in business for over 25 years. So, it really does make a difference when you give the company the respect they deserve, they are after all just acting on behalf of a client and have a limited knowledge of the events. So, take that into account before blowing off steam. Thank you Frankie and long may you continue, whoever trained you needs a pat on the back as well.

Scam, scam, scam. My deceased dad got a letter to say he owed money to British Gas for electricity, for the period after he died. He didn't even have British Gas as an electricity supplier, when he was alive!!!

Received a short curt text message saying to contact them urgently. No other communication, no idea what they want from me or who they are acting for. Checked online and found mostly negative reviews.
UPDATE 08/Apr/2024
Received a voicemail message of which the first half of the message was unclear so just heard Bishop calling on a legal
Matter and to contact them quoting a reference number. The person calling did not even identify themselves by name in the message, but believed to be an individual working there with the initials HM.
A search of the SRA database returns that there is no individual with those initials (full name given but redacted on TrustPilot due to Flint Bishop requesting I remove the full name) registered as a Solicitor, of which I expect a real Solicitor to contact me and identify themselves if as they say in the voicemail they are calling about a Legal Matter.

I don't believe the claims made by this company. They use threatening tactics under the name of British Gas. When I contacted British Gas, they advised me to disregard the letter. If anyone is considering using this company, I would caution against it. Their reviews are
also a cause for concern.
