Order with caution

Saw that the Mavic Pro was in stock and ordered immediately paying the full amount via Paypal. 3 days later (admittedly over a weekend) nothing heard from the company. I then called and asked what was happening with the order as the money was with them. They stated that the online status was incorrect and the order could not be fulfilled. I then exchanged some emails with them about how this could have happened and was happy with the explaination but miffed all the same. So they refunded the 1100 pounds to paypal but now paypal are refusing the credit it back to me and wont take the payment from 'pending'. Effectively i have lost this money to order from another supplier.

My moral is that you should not use the online functionality of this website and its much better to speak to somebody in person before you make a very expensive mistake.

I'm very sorry about that situation. The Mavic has been an utter nightmare from start to finish. DJI are shipping them in pairs. We've literally been getting 2 units per week...and we have many many many back orders (mostly for the Mavic Fly More Bundle). It is ridiculous!

Due to DJI's unprecedentedly bad launch we've ended up with ten times the work managing pre-order lists, taking deposits, allocating stock when it arrives, waiting for customers to pay the balance (often chasing them several times, oddly!), dealing with 50+ calls per day from new customers wanting a Mavic and customers already on the list wanting to know when they will get one, etc.

We had to have a separate product code for deposits, and Mavics themselves (and two more product codes for the Mavic Fly More Bundle, and the deposit for that). When a unit comes in we email the customer to pay the balance, then we change their order from the product code of the deposit, to the product code of the real product, notify the warehouse, and it ships out.

In this case unfortunately stock arrived, and was checked in, making it show as in stock on the website for a short time. You must have seen our website during that time and gone ahead and ordered straight away. Then we emailed the customer, they paid the balance, and switched the product code on their order, and it went back to "Pre-Order".

When we saw your order come in we (incorrectly) assumed you had ordered having seen "Pre-Order" as the stock status and therefore were happy to wait.

Once you made us aware of what had happened I put a spoof order on the system for 100 units to make sure that the Mavic product code never showed as in stock (I will remove that order once all of the deposit orders have been fulfilled of course).

Our stock status system is accurate. This was very much a one off in a very exceptional situation. We have shipped over 44,000 orders over the last 9 years with accurate stock levels.

The problem was, however, compounded by a problem with Paypal meaning that you didn't get your money back straight away. I'm very sorry about that. We received the email below today.

Please accept our sincere apologies for these two (very temporary) problems unfortunately affecting your order. I'd like to offer you a £20 gift voucher as a gesture of goodwill.

I'm happy to say that we cleared all of our back orders for single Mavic units a week or so ago, and we're back up to only two on the backorder list for singles right now. If you would still like one I can get you on the list, with the £20 discount? Just let me know by replying to your ticket from before and I'll get that done for you.

Great service in the end.

Very happy, it works!

Some technical issues to begin with partly due to my inexperience at building quadcopters, but also due to limited instructions with the build kit (which seems standard for a low price entry level drone kit wherever you buy) - my advice if you are a newcomer is to maybe just go for a ready to fly model.

Excellent Service

One of the only companies in the UK i could find that still stock a good selection of DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ spares.
Ordered a wifi module for my Phantom, picked it up the next day, fitted and was back flying soon after.
Great price and very helpful staff (via chat).

Owning a drone

I have been using First Person View for over five years, I started using them because they were one of the first pioneers in FPV and that was all good, I have purchased two DjI drones from these guys over the past two years and for one reason, they know there products inside out and if you experience a fault or ever have a problem they are there to help. I know that we are all blessed with searching for the cheapest deals on w.w.w but when things go wrong and you need technical assistance these guys are top.... Also I could not buy the two drones cheaper on the high street than I got from first person view.

A pleasure to be a customer.

Great communications throughout. I purchased a phantom 3 Quadcopter from firstpersonview, an order totalling nearly £900. I had no reservations however, and was soon contacted by them due to an issue with postage. Due to my location, special delivery was not available so my parcel was despatched via DPD and my postage costs were refunded!

It's been a welcome experience to deal with a company that actively puts customers first.

Excellent – no reservations, I would recommend this company to anyone

Bought my Inspire 1 in Houston, Texts in April 2015. I live in Cyprus. Problem with original battery in June so contacted DJI. They asked that I make a short video to show the problem...how cool. Then agreed to replace under warranty and asked for my dealer's name. Did not want to use Houston so contacted Firstpersonview from whom we had previously bought a Phantom 2 plus other spares. FPV agreed without reservation. Communications between me, DJI in China and FPV in Brighton were very easy throughout and the replacement was shipped to Cyprus free of charge. Brilliant service from both DJI and FPV. Will not use anyone else in future.

Great service

I orded a number of parts to install a Gimbal on my F550, and completed the order late at night. In my haste I missed an item off the list.

First thing in the morning i contact support via the chat system.

Paul was very helpful and sorted out the issue very quickly no fuss just did it. I ordered the missing item and he merged the 2 orders for me, brilliant!

Excellent Retailer, one to use again

The short answer: Very happy with the service, much better than experienced elsewhere.

The Long Answer:
Now some of you may be in the same situation I was and wondering the background of the decision, others are re-reading this regretting reading the rest of this review,

I decided against the DJI Phantom 2 after reading reviews on fly aways and relating problems with customer service. So I was then tempted by the Walkera Tali 500. It's got powered landing gear, and we all love a cool gadget...
The only place selling them was a website very similar in name to KobbyHing, I tried to buy it but the courier section failed, stating two couriers couldn't deliver to the UK because of the battery, the other courier couldn't deliver because it's over 10kg in weight.
Their live chat was the likes which make you suggest they introduce random drug testing in the office, so they suggested my courier issue was the browser, and to try Chrome, which as far as I know, doesn't make the box lighter etc. Turned out the main issue was the Battery, so they suggested buying a not ready to fly version, then linked a completely different model.
The advice was so bad I googled them for reviews, many of which were terrible and saved me from a bullet

Google found me FirstPersonView and ALL their reviews were great, so I ended up buying the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced for less than the Walkera would have cost (Phantom 3 apparently is new technology and may avoid runaways (most likely user error anyway, we're all to eager to fly to read the book first), it arrived the next day (not weeks) with no problems as all, they are UK Based in Brighton, so no mystery import taxes to dread plus 20% Vat on top of that, and an import handling service charge from the courier...

For me, the independent online reviews really helped make my decision and I have not regretted it, the KobbyHing site it appears to have been accused of deleting less than favourable reviews, many of the good reviews appear to have been made by people with the same remedial grasp of English, using the same errors etc, which one might consider suspicious.

FirstPersonView's site has links on site to Quad activities in Sussex which reassured me they were local and clearly part of an enthusiast community
I figured that if you are spending hundreds of hard earned pounds, you need to be confident of where you are sending it. FirstPersonView gave me nothing but confidence and I am glad I went there. The numerous positive reviews including fast delivery were all correct

I warned you it was the long answer...

Purchased fpv setup

Ive just purchased a complete fpv setup for dji phantom, ordered Friday was here this morning (Saturday) best price I found on the net, when it came to setting up, I asked a question on their Facebook and within minutes got some help, now off to fly, will definetly be using these guys again, thank you very much

First order

I have had Fistpersonview in favourites for a while, as i fly Multirotors and fixed wings, i also like to build depron sheet planes, my LHS is really overpriced on what i wanted, which was tubes of UHU POR, i didnt expect Firstpersonview to stock this, but they did, i ended up oredering three tubes, and with delivery to the door, was better than buying two tubes to pick up from the LHS, you cant get better than that, plus, the delivery times where spot on, i had the items very quickly from time of order, mor e than happy for my first order from firstpersonview, i will definately be ordering more Tubes of glue in the future, and will now certainly give them more viewing when requiring anything else that may be needed.

Professional customer service and issue resolution

I would recommend this company after using them for the first time as I prefer ordering from a UK supplier than from China. I placed an order for an iOSD cable just after Christmas and although was shipped out on the 2nd of January it never arrived. After few correspondence with FPV and specially with someone called ESME who was extremely understanding and very helpful a replacement cable was shipped out and arrived next day. It obviously seems that Royal Mail had a large back log and some items were lost in the system.
I will definitely use this company again with larger orders in the future.

Setting a very high standard for customer service!

In the 2 years or so since I got into flying multi-rotors, I've dealt with all the main suppliers/retailers of equipment in the UK. I can confidently say, without a shadow of a doubt, FirstPersonView are in a different league when it comes to customer service, support and, most importantly, product knowledge. They are a true pleasure to deal with and, wherever feasibly possible, I will always deal with them over any other supplier of equipment! I'm yet to find anyone there that isn't 5 star, but Esme deserves a special mention. She really is brilliant! Not just a great and helpful person to deal with, but her product knowledge is incredible! Keep up the great work guys… you're setting a VERY high standard that most others have a log way to go to meet!
