Did not want to be bothered
Went in with a question and needing help after my mother had passed. The banker could not be bothered to come out of his office. Customer service is non-existent.

Very poor bank. Many account limits that cannot be easily increased (how much money you can transfer to another account at the same bank, etc.). Invasive questions about "why" you want to transfer money to another account before they will execute the transfer. Made a $5k cash withdrawal and the teller insisted on knowing why I was withdrawing that amount of money. I put up with this nonsense for years, but now I just don't have time for the hassle because I have too much going on to have to make phone calls to the bank just to move money around. Very amateurish behaviour. Go with a big bank.
I'm a fraud investigator. I sent Firstmid firm evidence of hacked accounts, and at first I got a positive response. However, on sending more data they seemed to cool to the idea of having to protect customers' money, and then stopped responding altogether. Either very rude or very irresponsible.
i'm 54 years old. This is by far the worst bank i have ever dealt with. So i had a loan for 2 atvs on a 5 year loan which i paid off 1 year ahead of schedule. So the family wanted a side by side now. So put in a loan with them again and it was approved ( i have 800+ credit). This loan rep gayla said it would take 30 min for the check once i found the atv i wanted. so i did find one. 3 days later no check. they could not find the vin even tho i pulled it up quite easily on polaris's web site. They dont return calls or care about the customers at all. As i'm typing this, after i searched for months for the atv i wanted, now i'll probably lose it because of the incompetance of this lousy bank, who i will never, ever do business with again.
Have been with First Mid since 2004. Occasional hiccups, but overall good until February 2024. Many computer glitches!! Currently not able to get in my account without resetting password each time. The assistance folks are nice and have done it several times when it wouldn't work, but now I can't get in at all. Upgrade was anything but!!
Nothing but bad experiences with this bank..DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM..Paid an overdraft that I owed and asked them to close the account after I paid..then I get a letter in the mail stating I still owed 7 cents and they sent it to collections and now owe an extra $10 for collection fee.. what the heck
Do not use this bank. The branches tell you one thing then the bank does something else. The website is horrible and it took their IT department 6 weeks to fix a problem.
Stay away.
Our local bank got bought by FirstMid. Overnight, ALL OF US LOST ALL ACCESS TO OUR ACCOUNTS AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET HELP WAS PHYSICALLY GOING INTO THE BANK! No one can access their accounts online anywhere and they are REFUSING TO ANSWER THE PHONE regardless of what number you choose. I’ve called daily for a weeks and waited on hold over an hour a day. A LOT of people are closing their accounts due to this faux pus, myself included. You can’t completely cut people off from their finances and then refuse all phone and virtual contact! It shows me exactly what will happen if I stay at this bank. No thanks! I’ll cut my losses now.
This bank is a literally joke. They won't let me in my account unless I go in person to change my question. I don't have a way there. They say it's stop fraud. They ain't stopping anything my account has been compromised several times. Also they do things like change the type of account I have without permission. Lousy place.
I love this bank, in 30+ years of having personal and buisness accounts all over Missouri, California and Illinois I think for options, cost and services and cost associated with those compared to others I couldn't be happier with them.
