FMO VS Ancestry - no contest!
Been on Ancestry for many years but came to a block and recently joined again but very few records could be accessed and my tree didn't grow. I reluctantly joined FMP as I always thought Ancestry was the best you could get. However, I found that FMP has exclusive access to the full 1921 census but not just that, I could complete my tree starting from scratch and verifying everything on here with sources added, in just 2 weeks. right back to the early 1600s. I am so pleased and now looking at all lines through my grandparents as separate trees and it is so exciting. I can accrual find all records I need on here and Scotlands People. I also like the new additions and being alerted to them. There is now a Scottish book so that too may be very helpful for me. Love the way they keep in touch to inform me of latest additions and hew hints. I will be back in the site soon do start my next tree! There was an offer on so buying 12 months subscription was best for me. It means i can browse when i want and for as long as I want. My family are based in Leicester , London and Scotland.

Generally good. Shame 5he 1921 census is bot on my plan. The search engine relating to Westmeath and Westmorland is inaccurate. Only by sheer chance I found an army ancestors service record under Westmorland Further investigation established it was in reality county Westmeath.

Good, but not intuitive to use
Generally if you have a sound knowledge of your family as a starting point, it delivers good results.
However, it’s not that intuitive to use (and I’m experienced in PC usage), you will find what you’re looking for, it just takes longer than some other programs.

Unaffordable
It would be my preferred of choice, they have very good records and a lot of interesting information. However the cost is too high, I can use Ancestry for free in my local library but Find My Past is not available here

Once a really good site, but now not so reliable.
I have used FMP for many years and found it most useful, however, the past year has seen it being less reliable. I now often have to search several times to find the answer I am looking for with many wrong names being suggested with no obvious reason.
I like the ability to search different addresses, and to be able to limit my searching formula i.e. baptisms in a certain parish in a specified period. The one thing that disappoints me is the disappearance of many parish record scans, so much is missed by just using the transcripts.
The newspaper access has definitely not improved, it seems much harder to search now.
Despite this I still find it the most useful of all the subscription sites.

The website is easy to use and in terms…
The website is easy to use and in terms of researching your family tree. The hint system can be very helpful in finding out about unknown relatives but once you get about a hundred years away. It starts to feel a little more like guess work by the website than actual facts being presented to you. I was getting hints recommended at 95% chance of being correct showing wildy impossible relations. Gave up after the free trial period ended as couldn't rely on the results.
The sting in the tail was that I was charged 9.99 for subscription renewal even though I selected the option not to renew. The account settings are not clear and I'm a tenner down as a result. Cheers for that.

Generally Its very easy
Its very easy, to navigate, and very fast in finding things.
However to improve 2 things stand out for me.
1/ the difficulty from switching from EG 1921 Census to 1911. should be a tab at top.
2/ be nice to be able to delete from view the persons one has looked at that are NOT relevant. [simple X beside them would reduce the list as one goes].

Absolutely shocking
Absolutely shocking! I took out the trial, which defaulted into a 12 month fixed term contract. This was not made clear when taking up the trial. There is no option to cancel on the site. Avoid at all costs. Underhand sneaky sales tactics in use. I shall never use a product from this company again!
