(Transparency Statement)
I want to clarify why we’ve been paused since December 2024.

After months of investigating unresolved issues, I’ve discovered something deeply concerning: fraud prevention tools — originally meant to protect consumers — are being used to profile individuals, even if you never completed a purchase.

Over the past 5 months, we’ve been stonewalled by fulfilment partners and agencies, while simply trying to get answers. Stripe confirmed that supplier transactions were processed under different merchant identities and URLs, without transparency — which poses legal, data, and consumer trust issues.

One major cinema chain, ignored my DSARs request for over 4 months (now formally reported to the ICO), subsequently changed its privacy policy, named data controller, and ICO registration reference — all while continuing to ignore my inquiries. I will keep seeking clarity, but the pattern of avoiding liability-related questions appears to be a common legal tactic among large companies more focused on minimising exposure than offering consumers transparency.

We haven’t folded. We paused the platform deliberately — because I cannot responsibly continue until I know your data and trust are being handled properly.

FilmPass is a closed user group, not part of the growing “trusted partner” or “affiliate” schemes that disguise surveillance as service improvement. We do not repackage fraud metadata into behavioural insights. We do not pretend to be a “data science” business. And we believe you should never become the product without your informed consent.

I’m confident that we’re not the only SME affected by these practices, but very few have had the chance or voice to speak out. I’m currently working to push for accountability.

We are truly sorry for the disruption this has caused and will be reaching out to all members once we are in a position to do so. Your support, even in silence, means a great deal.

We remain committed to resolving this and rebuilding trust with our members once it's safe to do so.

Insight Update 1 - 16th May 2025

Stripe’s fraud prevention backend has now been confirmed (via privacy policy disclosures and merchant confirmations) to collect device fingerprinting, abandoned basket metadata, and repurpose session telemetry into behavioural “insights.”

Let’s call it what it is: bottom-feeding off behavioural data under the guise of security.

This isn’t innovation — it’s profiling with plausible deniability. It’s extraction wrapped in buzzwords, and it’s misdirection, not protection.

If your “trusted partner” relies on this, you’re not being served — you’re being scored.

Update 19/05/25

A formal complaint has now been submitted to the ICO with supporting evidence, including Stripe confirmations, DSAR timelines, and privacy policy inconsistencies. This Trustpilot review — and the company’s public reply — have both been shared with the ICO.

I welcome legal engagement, as this will allow all parties to clarify facts under proper scrutiny. My only aim is transparency: who processed the payments, who controls the data, and why so much remains redacted or unanswered after months of formal requests.

Discovery Note – Shared Authentication Between Club and Voucher Platforms
While logging in via CinemaSocietyClub.com, I discovered that my credentials also worked on CinemaSocietyVouchers.com — without any registration, confirmation, or separate consent flow.

This indicates both platforms share a single backend infrastructure and controller environment, even though they’re presented as distinct services. It undermines the claim of operational separation and raises significant concerns about transparency.

The absence of disclosure around this shared login setup constitutes a breach of GDPR Article 13 (data transparency), and strongly suggests a deliberate strategy to layer brand identities while centralising data behind the scenes.

It also aligns with the Wayback Machine blackout of CinemaSocietyVouchers.com after 2022 — suggesting backend consolidation, likely through Shopify or another platform now obscured from public inspection.

This discovery is being submitted to the ICO as Annex D11.2 – Shared Login & Platform Obfuscation Evidence.

Think the company has folded.....

Had a great experience initially but since Dec the website crashed, I have been fobbed off I think by Bobby Farrell the Business Development Director who promised me he would credit me with the tickets I have remaining....it has not happened. Don't pay this company any money!

Scam?

Received cinema tickets for Christmas and have no way of redeeming them as the website is down and the customer service email address is ignored.

I've checked multiple times over the past month and each time see the same message: "We are currently addressing a temporary issue with several of our suppliers that has impacted our operations."

The lack of a fix or any comms to manage expectations is worrying.

Website still down

As others noted, website continues to be down with the below message and that’s the only communication we get. Can’t check my unused codes nor claim the new ones I am entitled to.

“Important Notice

We are currently addressing a temporary issue with several of our suppliers that has impacted our operations.

We want to reassure all our members that we are working diligently to resolve this matter and remain committed to meeting your expectations.

Please note, PRIME+ members will not lose any claims. Any tickets that have not been claimed will remain available to claim once this issue is resolved.

If you have any immediate questions or concerns, please contact us at members-email-address.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Scam or have they gone bust?

Web site down and can’t collect our January passes. No response to emails either. What a pain and waste of money. Not sure if this was a clever scam or bad business model. Fingers crossed they will sort the issue but lack of comms makes me suspicious.

Their website seems to be down

Their website seems to be down, saying they’ll be back soon. There was no prior warning. We’re unable to claim the vouchers that we had paid for via Virgin Experiences!
