Buyer Beware

Buyer Beware: Our Disheartening Experience with Feazel Roofing

We’re sharing our story in hopes of helping others make a more informed decision before choosing Feazel Roofing.

For years, we trusted and recommended Feazel. That trust has now been broken. You never truly know how reliable a company is until you need them to stand behind their work—and unfortunately, Feazel did not.

After a recent storm brought high winds and heavy rain, we discovered water dripping from our bathroom ceiling fan and a soaked floor. Given our age and health, we couldn’t safely inspect the roof ourselves, so we called Feazel—the company that installed our roof in 2009. With a 30-year warranty, we assumed we were protected.

Instead of honoring that warranty, their representative blamed us. They claimed our attic fan had failed, supposedly causing poor ventilation and roof damage. But how were we supposed to know the fan had stopped working? And how did they determine it had been nonfunctional for a long time? We have perimeter ventilation, which we were told was sufficient. If attic ventilation was so critical, why wasn’t it addressed during installation?

They also pointed out a broken boot around a pipe that left a gaping hole—yet they didn’t seal it, despite rain in the forecast. Another roofing company we called later sealed it immediately, even though they weren’t responsible for the original work.

We’ve since learned that Feazel Roofing has changed ownership. The new company promotes a “lifetime warranty” and installs solar attic fans to ensure proper ventilation—something clearly lacking in our original installation. Why wasn’t this done back then? We had no issues in the 25 years before Feazel replaced our roof. Now, just 16 years later, we’re dealing with serious problems.

To make matters worse, we were shocked to discover that our paperwork only included a 5-year labor warranty. We trusted what we were told at the time—lesson learned: always read the fine print. If Feazel truly stands by their name, why not honor all customers under their “lifetime warranty”? Otherwise, they should have changed the company name entirely.

The most frustrating part has been the lack of communication. Calls go unanswered, and we feel strung along. Even our son, who stepped in to help, is getting the runaround. Feazel told us to file a claim with the shingle manufacturer—why is that our responsibility?

We’re retired and on a fixed income. We invested in this roof expecting peace of mind. Instead, we’re left with stress, damage, and a deep sense of betrayal. It feels like Feazel is more interested in avoiding responsibility than doing what’s right.

Please think twice before choosing Feazel Roofing. A warranty is only as good as the company willing to stand behind it.

Summary: My Opinion: AVOID THIS COMPANY. My background is construction management and Quality Assurance, I have dealt with many sub-contractors, including roofing, so I know for which I speak.
1) Salesperson (Zach) anxious to get my 50% deposit, THEN I was told it would be 4-6 weeks before install.
2) 50% deposit is MUCH higher than most companies
3) After four weeks, I said cancel the contract of you cannot get the job done soon. But I got: If this contract is canceled by the customer after the three (3) days from the execution hereof, the customer shall pay to the company 15% of the contract price as liquidated damages, not as a penalty, and the Company agrees to accept such as a reasonable and just compensation for the work performed as result of said cancellation.
4) The roof was installed approximately a week later.
5) Before the roof was installed, I asked the sales person (many times), what will be my final cost, I was texted: “im not the numbers guy”.
6) Feazel has two prices on the contract, “contract price” and “agreeable price” – they differ, be careful.
7) Roof was horribly installed, Feazel had rip off the new roof and reinstall it. BUT this second install would not have happened if I did not inspect the first roof install.
8) Before the second roof was installed, the production manager asked me: “if I reinstall your roof will you take down the negative review on Google?” I asked if he was blackmailing me?
9) Project manager did not stay on site during the first install.
10) The negatives go on and on, cigarette butts in the lawn, crew did not speak English, Drip edge was small pieces, etc.
11) Update: THREE MONTHS later I finally received the final bill -wow, this company does not do anything in a timely manner. To top it off, the invoice was due the day I received it (emailed) and it was for a higher amount then agreed.
My Opinion: STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! As mentioned, I have dealt with many sub-contractors in my trade, I would never hire this company again, one of the worst ordeals I have had just to complete a simple job
