Jimmy helped me!

I had a flight with layover in Doha. The waiting time was horrible (around 1 hour).

However, I am giving 5 stars for Jimmy, a lovely guy in the Flight Change Department (Ireland) who helped me a lot.

I got my issue solved and he was absolutely kind. I only have words of gratitude.

Thank you Jimmy!

Giving 1 star because I can't give any lower. Do not use this horrible company or any of it's affiliates like hotels.com. I booked 2 bed apartment through Expedia for 2 adults and 2 children. Only one room when we arrived and told to put 2 sofas together to make bed. This was for a weeks holiday. Expedia only offered €50 refund. Totally inadequate. I will never book with them again. The apartment had birds nesting in between the walls and had no cooking utensils which were meant to be provided. Expedia contacted the hotel/apartment owner and took their side even with all the proof of what I had complained about given to them. Use any other company rather than Expedia, they do not care about you as a customer.

Don't Ever Pay a Hotel Deposit via Expedia

Paid a deposit for a hotel stay in Greece via Expedia and cancelled without penalty four months in advance of the trip. To date the hotel has not reimbursed the deposit. When I contacted Expedia for assistance in getting the deposit back, they effectively told me to take it up directly with the hotel to get the deposit returned. So while Expedia can take deposits straight away on behalf of the hotel, they will leave it to you to fight the hotel to get the funds returned rather than assisting their clients. Would not recommend using Expedia for your travel plans!

Positive interaction

I know there has been alot of negative reviews but all I can say is positive. Due to the Middle East conflict I called and although I had to wait an hour, I was able to get a full refund once Etihad confirmed all flights were eligible. The online virtual tool is very limited so I recommend in just calling. AI is not able to deal with complex travel no matter what the news tells us!

Expedia are genuinely terrible

Expedia are genuinely terrible. I booked a flight with them and had to call 4 different agents and talk to 2 online agents in 2 days because they were messing around, saying my flight was confirmed, then saying it wasn’t and I had to contact them, then saying it was confirmed again, before telling me it was cancelled, with no further info but on contacting them I was told I’d get a refund in 3-5 days, but then I was told I wouldn’t and my flight hadn’t been cancelled and I just needed to call them to sort it out. It’s still not sorted out and I have no idea where I stand. I assume there will be even more calls and chats before it gets sorted, that is if it ever does get sorted! Genuinely terrible, my first and last time booking with them and will be warning everyone off them.

Very poor

Very poor - too much reliance on AI for customer service. Only when you’re at your wits end and demand to speak to a manager will you get anywhere but expect a lot of time wasted via chatbots, emails and on hold. I did get my money back eventually but wouldn’t use them again

Terrible Service-No Accountability

Terrible Service – No Accountability

I booked through Expedia expecting peace of mind, but got the opposite. When my flight had issues, Expedia passed the blame, offered no real help, and made me chase answers myself. Their “support” team gave scripted responses and zero solutions.

If something goes wrong, don’t expect Expedia to step up. They’ll happily take your money but leave you stranded when it matters most.

Tip: Book directly with the airline/hotel — you’ll get better service and faster resolutions.

Keep using the excuse airline have not got back to them and they have escalated I got a response from the airline direct as to the cause of the cancelation within two days. Never heard back from the customer service team dealing with the case. Avoid this company.

Terrible booking experience

Had an excellent experience with booking a package holiday on Expedia a number of years ago but after recent experience and wasting so much of my time I will never book with them again. Went to book a package holiday this year that seemed too good to be true and turns out it was. Tried numerous times to book it but couldn’t. Contacted customer services and they said it was a problem with my bank card. Absolutely no problem with my bank card, I even rang the bank to double check. Then I was told the room type selected wasn’t available to try a different room, tried numerous times with a different room selected and no joy. Even changed hotel to a similar one and no joy. The customer service person then said to leave it an hour or two to try as the package might be updating…numerous personnel said this over the day. I tried numerous times over the day and it still wouldn’t work. Terrible to offer prices that cannot be fulfilled. I have numerous transactions cancelled on my credit card so just to warn you that you think you’re almost booked and then no confirmation email comes. A huge waste of time so my advice is save your time and money for a much better booking experience.

Absolutely DISGRACEFUL customer…

Absolutely DISGRACEFUL customer service. I booked flights (Aegean Airlines) and hotel thru them and when the Airline Cancelled one of my flights, Expedia left me scambling between NO LESS THAN 5 Virtual Assistants, none if which read the previous Virtual messages so they kept asking for the Same information again and again. When I called Aegean Airlines about the cancellation, they said to go back to Expedia. Caught between the 2 of them and very very annoyed with the Service. Dud not get my refund. Scandalous Customer Service.

Terrible customer service

I booked a weekend away through booking. com but due to a family member getting very ill we had to cancel last minute. We missed our free cancellation window which is fair enough. We contacted the hotel and they understood and agreed not to charge us and they spoke to booking. com and then Expedia because they were the third party. They agreed with the hotel to grant a full refund without any charge and sent on the correspondence to the hotel agreeing to the refund. To this day I Have not received the refund and have tried and tried to get in touch about the refund and have failed to even get talking to someone. I will not recommended booking. com or Expedia to anyone and will in future deal directly with the hotel as they have gone above and beyond to try help. Absolutely disgraceful customer service. The money is paid in full and the hotel didn’t take the money so where is the money gone?

The connecting flight from Ho Chi Minh…

The connecting flight from Ho Chi Minh to Phu Quoc was moved 2 hours earlier. After contacting Expedia and explaining that I could not transfer to their changed flight because I arrive in Ho Chi Minh later than the departing plane to Phu Quoc, I demanded a refund for the tickets. They just said that they wouldn't do anything. And just stole my money.. Don't trust this company of thieves.

Flights cancelled by airline- no help rebooking them

I booked a tip a number of months ago to Australia, of which there were 3 flights in the journey over and 3 flights in the journey back.

I was notified that the first two legs of my trip to Perth had been cancelled by the airline (Dublin to Munich and Munich to Singapore broth with Lufthansa on 26th of October) and I had only been rebooked on one replacement flight (Frankfurt to Singapore with no way to Frankfurt from Dublin). I then followed the instructions to call Expedia to rebook. I was given an unsatisfactory reply that it would cost me €1000 to be put on a flight that day (26th October) to Frankfurt. I was told this was the case as there was only one flight that day not booked out and that this only had business class left. However I could see at the time that there were 4 flights that day with the same carrier (Lufthansa) and all had the same class that I had originally booked, when I pointed this out I was told that it wasn’t showing up for them and nothing could be done about that. The other option I was given was a refund for the whole trip (not including any taxes and fees paid which were a large portion of the total price) and this could take up to 2 weeks to return into my account and that I could rebook my flights for the entire trip (at this point the rebooking would cost €1600+ and I was 3-4 weeks away from my trip). Neither of these options were options I could afford at such short notice.

I repeated this call 5 more times over the course of the following week and a half after and was given the same response despite these flights and seats still being available and bookable each time.

I had to independently book a flight to Frankfurt that cost €420 at short notices with a 10 hour layover (there were later flights that day with less layover time but cost nearly €600).

Expedia agents were nice to talk to but neither of these 'solutions' are acceptable. As I am not getting a rebooking for the cancelled flight to Munich or a refund for it I imagine Expedia are keeping the money that I paid for it.

Expedia continues to ignore complaints of misleading ads!

I have tried to contact Experia numerous times in regards to one of their hotels posting misleading ads (I actually walked straight back out and handed back the keys the place was that bad, having to book an alternative hotel straight away!), but they don't want to know. I have lost my money on the slum hotel that Expedia continues to promote!

This is a scam service

This is a scam service. I booked hotel in paris and i selected the pay later option although it was more expensive. However, the hotel tried to charge my card multiple times before the payment date in the Expedia itinerary. I refused to pay because this is not the option i selected, so the hotel cancelled my booking from their side with expedia involved. If expedia can not force the hotel to follow the selected reservation preferences then i see it a scam service of no value and they should close their website. totally avoid otherwise they will steal your money

Just attempted a booking...and realised I was being scammed by Expedia

Just attempted a booking with Expedia.ie, then realised I was being scammed. Either the site is hacked, or they're attempting a bait and switch.
Went to the booking site, did the usual, selected flights, hotel, the extras, etc, and went to payment.
First time, Expedia said it failed, before I put in the details to authorise via my bank.
Second time, did the authorisation but expedia said again it had failed.
Started the process again...then realised, this is wrong.
Checked my bank statement, there are 3 'pending transactions' for the same amount, which together are €621.38 more than the amount I authorised the one time.
Have now canceled my debit card with bank, who are investigating this as fraud.
Expedia help? Non-existent. The website support absolutely does not exist.
FB, contacted them and simply got an 'agent' who is indistinguishable from a chatbot with the moronic replies that miss the point.
This was going to be my 1st holiday away in nearly 5 years, I've now given up.
If this was genuine Expedia, thanks for absolutely nothing. Will avoid you in future like the plague.

Note: emailed the address that Expedia give when you set up an account, customerservice_at_support_dot_expedia_dot_ie

It just bounced back, saying this:

"Thank you for contacting Expedia Group. You’ve reached us at an email address that’s been retired. However, we can still help – please visit your booking site and select Support or Help. We’ll work through your issue and get you on your way.

Safe travels,
Your Expedia Group Travel Team"
