We all like to get value for money, and there's nothing worse than booking a Hotel or a Flight + Hotel (when booked together) and then finding it cheaper elsewhere, so we've come up with the following guarantee:

Very disappointed with how Expedia has handled our complaint.
We attempted to book a package holiday in March, however due to what Expedia later acknowledged was a technical/pricing error within their system, the booking repeatedly failed while authorisation charges were still taken from our bank accounts.
As a result:
£1,726 was temporarily tied up in pending transactions
We ended up paying £130 more than the original advertised package price
We spent over 7 hours speaking to multiple customer service representatives trying to resolve the issue
Although Expedia eventually acknowledged the issue and provided some credit, the handling of the complaint itself has been extremely poor. We have had to repeatedly chase responses, explain the situation multiple times to different representatives, and several emails have gone unanswered entirely.
We also repeatedly authorised my husband to deal with the complaint on my behalf due to personal circumstances, however this was repeatedly ignored.
What has been most frustrating is the lack of consistency and accountability throughout the process. A stressful situation caused by Expedia’s own system error has been made significantly worse by the way the complaint has been handled.
We are still awaiting a fair and proper resolution.
The worst customer service experience i have ever had. Booked a one way hire car via Expedia, booking explicitly said it inclued "all fees and taxes". On arrival was charged an additional £100 by car hire company for it being a one way rental. Expedia will take no responsibility for this and won't acknowledge that they gave no information in the booking that there could be additional fees. Infuriating complaint process that ends at supervisor level, apparently no managers and no ombudsman to go to. I will never use Expedia again and would urge others not to.
I have tried to cancel my booking 72073109879344 for two weeks. You charged my £499 on the 10th of April. I have tried to cancel the booking as the client had already booked another hotel. We even went to the hotel we booked and they said we had to go to Expedia. I have tried on your website 10 times and you seem to have made it impossible to get a refund. If I do not get a refund I will take you to the small claims court and let the whole world know what you are trying to do. This was the first time I think that I used Expedia and for sure it was the last time. You should treat your clients well not make it so difficult to get a refund. In the future when I see your adverts I will just turn them off. To anyone who is thinking of using Expedia, DON'T DO IT! I want my refund.
Horrible customer service!
I rented a van through Expedia and gave them my age. They let me rent it but when I went to pick up the van I was told I couldn't due to my age. They told me to get a refund from Expedia. After talking with them they declined. Now I have no van, no sofa and no refund.
Cancelled by mistake backed the hotel instead of me bunch of crooks.
Expedia charged me £90 per night for a double room which the hotel charges £54. Hotel could do nothing to refund the difference.
Don't book through Expedia
After Driving all the Way to Montenegro from the `UK this hotel was a wonderful example of local friendliness and hospitality. Its modern clean and functional facilities were matched by wonderful friendly staff who were happy to assist during our stay with advice on local amenities .A special mention should be given to Tamara the chef who provided a superb buffet breakfast spread and whose attention to detail could not be surpassed , thank you for a super stay
Booked a hire car in Rhodes, listed on Expedia as 'Counter and Car in Terminal' paying slightly more than alternative providers who were offsite. When we arrived there was no counter and we had to call and wait nearly 30 mins for someone to collect us and take us to the offsite counter. I contacted Expedia with this feedback and they were not interested, saying the booking confirmation said someone would meet us at arrivals so it was obviously off site. Eventually when I showed them screenshots of the site still showing the hire company had cars and counter in the terminal with the terminal address, they agreed to investigate. After a couple of days they said the hire company were refusing to provide any refund and closed complaint. I wasn't asking the hire company to refund, I booked through Expedia and if their suppliers are providing misleading information, Expedia should provide a partial refund and claw this back from the suppliers. Very disappointed with the overall experience.
scammers do not use Expedia. if something goes wrong you cannot get in touch with anyone, its a recorded message with no option to answer queries when their system malfunctions. There is no manned number to deal with queries or make bookings by phone and if anything goes wrong the AI just ignores you.
I would score zero if possible.
AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Please never use this useless company. Embarrassing.
Booked a flight. Had to cancel but luckily (ha) paid extra just in case.
Cancelled and received an email confirmation saying full refund would be sent in 6 days.
It’s been over 2 months. Had to call multiple times.
Still nothing.
DISGUSTING.
I had to correct a passenger name before I could check in - spent 2 hours plus to get Expedia to do this who were the only party authorised to make this change. Customer service was poor especially given how simple the issue that needed fixing was
awful. didn't get the baggage I paid for. didn't get the seats I paid for. agents refused to help.
Booked hotel Elsa in Skopje for three nights, with, apparently, free parking and breakfast included. The room was supposed to be for two people, the hotel was supposed to be 3.5*. But ...
When it came to the check-in the guy knew nothing about free parking and the breakfast. Even worse, the room turned out to have a single 'window' looking into ventilation shaft, full of pigeons and pigeon excrement (imagine the smell). So we paid extra 20 quid a night to upgrade. Phoned Expedia from the hotel, and was then told to submit re-imbursement request.
The hotel does not have a working restaurant, the hotel does not have parking, the hotel overcharges for parking in a public garage, the hotel is atm 2* hotel. Sent the proof of additional expenses and after endless back and forth emails was told that 'the hotel refused the request'. Worse than a joke - I phoned from the hotel because they refused to honour what I believed I had included (with hindsight, it could have been one-cash rewards hallucinations!).
I have found customer service absolutely useless, dealing every time with a different person who could not even be bothered to check the message trail. And unwilling to take any responsibility for what they sell!
I cancelled my booking within the free 12 hour window as circumstances changed. I have in writing that my refund would be processed in 7 - 10 days. 10 working days went, no sign of the refund. Recontacted Expedia to be told it can take a whole billing cycle to appear back in my credit card. Guess what . .the billing cycle went (30 days+), no money. Contacted them again to be told to wait 2 billing cycles! I said no, I want to raise a complaint. Escalated to another person who told me I wasn't entitled to a refund. I said no. I am. I have screen shots and proof of the cancellation in the correct time frame. That person then said they were waiting for refund from the airline. Again no. My contract is with you. It will be apparently processed in another 7 to 10 days which will be almost 7 weeks from when I cancelled. Holding onto money that is mine and hiding behind the airline. Shoddy business tactics. Bordering on fraud and theft. Will be taking them to small claims.
I booked flights to Dubai just before the Iran War started. BA then cancelled my original flight and put me on a night flight. As the situation was still fresh and moving, I call Expedia to confirm whether the new flight was likely to go ahead. They called BA and BA supposedly told Expedia that even that flight had been cancelled and that I would receive a refund for the flight. However my hotel was anon-cancellable booking. I since found out the the alternative flight had not been cancelled and that Expedia requested my cancellation. It was too late to rebook. I therefore went to Expedia to ask that they refund me the hotel due to it being an error on their part and they have also refused to admit that it was their agent that cancelled the booking saying that I cancelled the booking therefore any losses incurred are my fault.
Hotel was really nice food was really good staff were good but need to speak English.
I booked a package and there was £644.56 as fees and taxes, no clue what it was, no info on the website. I called Expedia on the phone and the lady she had nothing to say, she didn't answer my questions about these charges, she was reapeting they are charges and fees from the hotel and the flights. So then she excalated to another team. They emailed me explaining that was the charges and the fees, again. I contacted the hotel and they assured me that they never authorised the 3rd companies to apply fees to the customers. I emailed Expedia again for 2 days requesting the breakdown of my payment including every charges and the explanation of what it was.
I have been charged for £2114.87, I paid already £1874.55. The package cost(hotel and return flight) for £1229.99, then Taxes and fees for £644.56 which I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS. Then the resort fees £206.82 and £33.50 for total £240.32 payable at the hotel, which is not even the right cost. I asked to explain to me what charge was £644.56. Also the colleague at the phone mentioned charge of £925.26(hotel fees) and £949.29(flights fees), again I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS. The flights fee £949.29 which is even more the actual flights costs, ridiculous. They kept saying that it was the resort fees, but I said that it wasn't possible. So at the end on the second day of emails one lady admitted that the charges were Expedia charges. So it's not enough that you pay a package over £2k, they steal money from you as well without let you know, they summarised all the fees in one amount £644.56, vague and without explanation. No transparency no honesty, just took the money. If it was written what fees were, I wasn't booking with Expedia at all. The flight total amount was £447 and the taxes were £502.29???? The taxes were more than the flight price, it's ridiculous. I could book with £502.29 another flight with another company.
This was my first time with Expedia and will be the last one. They catch the customers with good fares but then they add hidden fees without expanation and they lie saying that the fees are the hotel fees, which it's not true. They could just say before booking, those are Expedia charges for using the service, but instead they lied and they make a ridiculous amount of fees. I don't know why the Airline charged so much more than the flights costs, Expedia said they have to contact me but no one did yet. Do not use Expedia, you think you are saving money but you ending up paying even more. I also made a complaint over the phone for this matter and the lady asked me how much compensation I wanted, as I have been for 2 days over the phone and writing emails I said that this caused me distress and I wanted £142, the lady should have resolve the complaint with me over the phone but instead she hang up saying that she had to speak to someone else, and after 2 minutes instead of call me she sent an email saying that the complaint was rejected. They don't even look at my complaint. Horrible customer service, the staff is unprofessional, they are lier.
Enjoy my £142 but that's it from me because you won't see me anymore.
Absolute joke of a company I was trying to change my contact number no way of doing this in your account lol , I thought ill reach out to the company and request someone to update my number only to be told some rubbish about policy they aren't allowed to do it well my question is who is and why cant the account holder change said details on their own account absolutely unacceptable needless to to say the Expedia account will now be closed as its the wrong details and im not able to update them Absolute useless company won't be using them again !!!
I had an extremely frustrating experience trying to cancel a fully refundable flight with Expedia (Itinerary no: 73409146424006).
What should have been a simple, self-service process turned into multiple failed attempts and long wait times. On 26th April, I spent over 10 minutes on a call with an agent, only to be disconnected before the issue was resolved.
Today, after three separate attempts to get through, I was finally connected to an agent—but then had to remain on the phone for 42 minutes and 22 seconds just to cancel the booking.
For a fully refundable ticket, this level of friction is completely unacceptable. It’s not only frustrating for customers, but also highly inefficient for Expedia. A basic function like cancellation should be seamless and easily handled online without requiring lengthy calls.
Overall, a disappointing experience that has made me reconsider using Expedia in the future.
