Super cottage experience. My family had 3 of the cottages so there were 10 of us.
Cottages are beautifully presented and very clean.
Kids enjoyed playing in the ford just up the road, on the way to the pub - which is highly recommended btw. Essential to book though.
Very central to all that we needed in terms of beaches, national trust property to visit and ‘ slip and slide ‘for the kids.
Would absolutely recommend.

Back again within six months to do some more walking and enjoy Challacombe - a favourite escape. Walked to Watersmeet - NT cafe with lovely scones - and Culbone Church through classic Exmoor woods. Glorious weekend - cosy and comfy cottage - good to chat to chickens again.

Beautiful 5 cottages with a real homely feel. Lovely little walking opportunities, nice, calm, quiet and often other people renting cottages are nice to chat to. Necessary pub 5 mins away with the best food I have ever eatten, dog friendly like the cottages but ve sure to book table as renowned from miles away. In hot summer, lovely cool plot. Genuine people who run this establishment who are kind and caring. I wish every cottage experience was like this one. Truely love the place.

We recently stayed at Wisteria Cottage with our 2 dogs & found it to be very welcoming & cosy, with excellent facilities. The garden was safe & secure for our 2 cockers. Melanie (1 of the owners) was lovely to meet & very helpful. The cottage was set in a lovely courtyard setting in a beautiful hamlet, down a quiet country lane, in lovely surroundings. Great for a central base to explore North Devon & Exmoor with all of their beautiful scenery & places of interest to visit. Oh & there was lovely fresh chicken eggs to buy too! Andrew & John.

Wonderful warm cosy cottage with a lovely garden. Idyllic setting, quiet except for the delight of the stream and the birds and a beautiful starry sky. Challacombe is unique. Three fabulous walks at Morthoe, Simonsbath and The Chains with high quality cafes everywhere. Fantastic surfing at Woolacombe. No crowds, no traffic and superb scenery. A lovely welcome from Melanie and the chickens who produce delicious eggs. We will be back.

If you are looking for great accommodation for a mini break in a great countryside setting, look no further.
This is that place. The owner Melanie and her son Henry were most helpful and are on site and available for any needed assistance. Wisteria cottage contains everything you are likely to need during your stay and was ideal for the two of us plus our dog appreciated the secure rear garden.
A visit to The Black Venus Inn is highly recommended but do book in advance to save disappointment.

We recently stayed for 2 weeks in Wisteria Cottage. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay and a place to relax. It was very clean throughout and we had everything we needed.
The cottages grounds are very wildlife friendly and it's just such a peaceful place to be, set along a quiet side lane within Challacombe - itself a beautiful and quiet village with a fantastic pub and also a village shop.
Challacombe is perfectly located to explore Exmoor, the North Devon coast and further afield inland to gardens such as RHS Rosemor or NT Arlington Court. We easily filled 2 weeks of daily activities without travelling too far.
We chatted with Melanie, the owner, and her son Henry a few times during our stay and you they are both very warm, helpful and friendly. It was a pleasure to meet them.

Lovely cottage in a great location to visit places, lovely walks and plenty of wildlife, Cottage is very cosy with plenty of space, very dog friendly and Melanie is always about if you need her, even just for a chat in the garden, Just love this place, it's worth a visit

What a haven this place is and what a warm welcome Melanie gives which makes this holiday such a success. We have been to the Farmhouse twice now, both times in May, when the cottages are festooned in a stunning wisteria. The place is alive with bird song and activity as she has provided nesting boxes on all the buildings, and that is a joy to watch. We were with our son and his family, including 2 young boys, who love all this and the space the Farmhouse provides, including the climbing frame on the hill.There is so much to do in the area, delicious food at the Black Venus Pub, which involves crossing a ford, steam train rides and dinosaur parks, plus great rock pooling beaches. Thank you so much Melanie for all your cheerful hard work. We will be back, this place is a gem.

Lovely accommodation, lovely village with exceptional food available at very local pub, very friendly and informative owner, Melanie. All in all, a perfect, peaceful Exmoor holiday base!

We love coming back to Challacombe, being now regular visitors. The woodburners are a big attraction in the winter even if they challenge our fire-making abilities at times! What we love most, though, is the quiet and the unspoilt natural world all around, resulting from your patient "wilding" over the years. The clip-clop of a horse's hooves is sometimes the only traffic on the lane, the cottages are comfortable and well-equipped and if we do want to go out, most of Exmoor and the N.Devon coast are in easy reach by car. Hope to see you again before too long.

This is a great place to unwind,relax and get away from the stresses of life. Stunning scenery abounds within a 20 mile radius, plenty of walks for the energetic, plenty of shops and amusements for the adventurous, good food and great beaches. Exmoor Holiday Cottages are in a pretty village and the cottages are comfortable and have everything you need. Being in Exmoor allows you to experience the night sky like you've never seen it before. Really recommend this place for any length of stay. Mel and John run this place like clockwork and are so helpful but not intrusive. You will love it.🥰

It was the first time I had gone to the Exmoor holiday cottages with friends and the scenic setting was really lovely and Melanie and John made us all very welcome and the company was very accommodating as well and Melanie and John are really friendly and very welcoming
