Let's start with the pick up; upon arrival at the airport, no sign of the shuttle. We waited more than an hour in the reserved area, in the midst of indescribable chaos, without a precise point of reference. Finally a van arrives, we get in and after another 15 minutes of driving we arrive at the rental counter. Here absolute confusion reigns, groups leaving, others like us arriving, crowding together, without any order of precedence. When it's our turn, the employee welcomes us, then gets up and disappears for several minutes; a colleague of his arrives but immediately stops to answer the phone. Everything to be done again when the first employee returns and starts all over again. Conclusion: another half hour that goes by and the surprise of having to pay an extra 90 euros for "driving over age". I am 78 years old and I have always rented cars without any age problem, in Greece as elsewhere. Also it was not indicated anywhere when booking online with the relative advance payment, when with a license check I could have been notified.
The vehicle was not in good condition; due to clutch slippage and a wheel bearing.
Never again.

Exer rental experience - Rhodes

3rd time I have rented a car from Exer car rental, twice from Rhodes. This time a Suzuki Swift 40K kms on the clock. Few scratches and dents so took pictures of the car. Car was fine. Took out my own excess cover in the UK £13 for 8 days. Exer put an hold (900 euros) on my credit card which is normal, returned if there's no damage. Took the car to a car wash prior to return (4 euros), Exer gave the car a quick check and passed it. Hold on credit card released within a few days. Normally the car pick up shuttle is back and forward to the airport regularly, If not ring the booking company (auto europe in my case ) and they call Exer. Would I book with Exer again - yes.

Car and service were good in general.

Missed the 5th star because the communication from EXER could have been a bit more proactive and they could have been a bit more flexible as well in terms of out of hours charge.

My flight was delayed, late at night, and I expected a representative to be there to receive us. I was worried because I didn't remember if I gave them my flight or not.

I did, so they were monitoring no problem, but it would have been nice to get a call or a message notifying they were on their way.

Instead, I came out of the airport to no one, Sunday night, and didn't know if they were going to appear until I called and they said they were on their way.

Due to all this, we ended less than an hour over the extra hours time, and I was charged €40 extra because of this, when my booking was for 30 min before this extra hours charge. It's not that I chose to do this willingly.

I think the extra hours charge should be when people pick something extra hours from the start, not when flight is delayed since there's no control on that.

Worse experience

Put one star because we cannot put zero.
Extremely disappointed, we have a very bad experience with them. They charge you extra insurance just because you don't have a credit card for the deposit, then they tell you that you subscribe to a full insurance and at the end you need to pay extra for case fee . Never had a such bad experience with a rental car agency . Seriously run away!!

Good company to deal with

Firstly the lady we dealt with was professional and helpful. No extra charges for being somewhat late picking up the car. Had no difficulties whatsoever and will definitely be using Exer when back in Kos again.

Great service throughout little bit…

Great service throughout little bit hard to find our guide to take us to the pick up point at the airport however no drama’s we waited about 10 mins for shuttle and then picked car up all good on return it heavily rained ( can you believe it in Greece! ) just after we washed it to give it back they were cool with it no funny business trying to rip you off great company would like to thank the staff at Exer for making our trip a whole lot easier unlike some others rentals that we’ve had in the past! Highly recommend and would use again

Avoid Exeter Rent A Car

I have communicated with two different agents at Exer Rent A Car, and asked repeatedly to have my issue escalated to a Manager, which they have refused to do.

They claim that I rented a "city" car not suitable for driving across the country of Greece. There is no mention on their website, where I rented the vehicle and paid for it in advance, that it was a "city" car. There is no mention on the reservation confirmation that they sent me that it was a "city" car. When filling out the paperwork at the rental counter, we told the agent that we were planning to drive "across the country". She had ample opportunity to inform us that it was a "city" car and not suitable for driving "across the country", but said nothing.

The clutch failed on the car while driving back to Athens, stranding us in rural Greece. When we called them, they promised to send a replacement vehicle in an hour or so. In an hour or so, a tow truck arrived, but with no replacement vehicle. He towed us to his office, where we had to get a taxi to the bus station, buy tickets for a 5-hour bus ride back to Athens, and then another taxi to our hotel.

Despite multiple attempts, Exer has refused to provide any compensation for renting us a defective vehicle, and has refused to reimburse us for the incremental expenses we incurred to get back to Athens after their vehicle became inoperable. And they have refused to get a Manager involved.

Exer is not a reputable company. There are a lot of options available that provide better opportunity for pleasant experiences.

I have already talked with two of your agents, both of whom gave me the same nonsense response. I have asked multiple times to have this escalated to a manager, but have received no response to those repeated requests. If you want to discuss, I would be happy to discuss in more detail with you.

Gerne wieder

I reserved the car online. Picking it up was problem-free. Any damage was pointed out. Returning it went smoothly too. The staff were very friendly. If I need a car again, I will book there again.

Bad company!!

I had forgotten my pin code for my credit card and asked if it was possible to come by 3 days later with the new code. No understanding for the situation and therefore had to pay €180 extra. Not customer friendly at all! In addition, the car started to make a very loud beeping noise and stutter, went by again and they had fixed it. Once back at the hotel, this noise started again. I will never rent a car here again!
