Sunday Lunch Pennyhill Park

Went for Sunday lunch which we hadn’t done fora while following price increase. Dining room is lovely and spacious.Starters and desserts are buffet style while main course is served family style.
There was quite a reduced selection of starters and desserts from when we first started going to Pennyhill. Although price is now advertised as £65 glass of wine added and service charge is £90 per person. We were served cabbage whose was uncut and the leaves literally covered a dinner plate and were so tough I could not cut it with my knife. I saw other tables experience the same.
My mother whose 87yrs who usually loves the desserts did not enjoy hers for first time and her appetite is less than child size had very little for her £90. Unfortunately based on this experience and price we are unlikely to return, which is sad given our history with the hotel starting from 1978.

Extremely overpriced and not accommodating for special needs

We stayed at the South Lodge recently - I don’t have anything negative to say about our meal at The Pass or the staff in the Spa, as the service quality was adequate. However the hotel and lack of attention to individual guests’ needs and experience is far below expectations given comparable (much cheaper) hotels in the region. I’ve had better service and attention at 3 star hotels.. The room with a view is just average, and the pillows undid all the lovely work of the talented masseuse. So very disappointing for a long awaited special occasion overall. The breakfast was also awful in Camelia.. four pieces of burnt toast and lack of attention to gluten intolerance, making me sick.. what chef at a 5star hotel thinks it’s ok to burn toast and scrape it off instead of making a new piece? All whilst my husband had a nice basket of pastries. I’d recommend the dine and dash option instead of the dine and stay!

Thieves at Pennyhill Park Spa

My husband had treated me to a Spa Day at Pennyhill Park. I left my handbag in a locked locker in the changing rooms. When I came to get changed at the end of the day the locker was open and my purse had been taken from my bag. I had definitely locked the locker as I checked it twice and your wrist band comes up red if it doesn’t lock. The manger of the Spa , Chantelle was particularly unprofessional and insinuated that the locker could not have been locked . I spoke to the manager of PHP the next day and he promised a gift voucher and that nothing like this has happened before. No voucher has materialised . Beware of thieves at this hotel .

Exclusively not exclusive

We booked our honeymoon at South Lodge hotel. Spent one night and left early as there was a wasp problem in our room. The staff at the hotel confirmed this before we left. The General Manager has now said it is acceptable to pay £590 for one nights B&B and not be able to open a window (during a heatwave) due to a wasp problem. According to the General Manager, who was not available over the weekend, his staff did not at any point confirm that there was a problem in the room with wasps. He did not attend the premises at any point during our stay.
Compared to other five star hotels in West Sussex this hotel charges the highest rates and offers the lowest quality or service and customer care.
