They took a £500 refundable deposit and have failed to return it.
I was visited by a surveyor (George). I was pushed to place a "fully refundable" deposit of £500 for advanced panels that were in limited supply and I was assured, in writing by his manager (Darrell Law), that should I no longer wish to proceed, it would be returned "straight away". That was on the 17th/18th of Feb.
Less than 10 days later I informed them that due to circumstances changing I would not be proceeding. I was told by Darrell that he would arrange for the deposit to be returned. A few days later, the money had not been returned. I called Darrell, he apologised and said he would take care of it. This would become a pattern. The last time we spoke, he said it would be returned by the end of that week. That Friday came and went. I sent Darrell and email stating how disappointed I was and that the experience had left a bad impression of Evergreen Solar. I gave them another chance to return the money and quoted his initial email about it being fully refundable should I not proceed and that it would be returned straight away. It should not take multiple calls and emails and now more than a month to return money I was expected to drop off the back of a call. Evergreen claim to be a national company. You expect better from a national company. I don't know why they need to hold on to my money but it this whole experience means I cannot trust this company. Not now, nor in the future. I told Darrell via email that if my money was not returned by today, I would leave a review of this experience. I will also be contacting Trading Standards, their accreditors and the FCA who also regulate them.
