As a seller I am really disappointed…

As a seller I am really disappointed with Etsy. Not only are we held responsible for things we can't control but support is basically non-existent. They say sellers can contact support to get help but when you do they won't do anything about the issue. Etsy used to be a great place to sell my items but they no longer care about the seller. Etsy needs to remember that if there were no sellers, there would be no Etsy platform. No to mention they increase their fees every year so it's getting harder and harder to make a profit using their platform. I will be closing my Etsy shop and having my own shop instead. At least I would have more control that way instead of "relying" on Etsy to do absolutely nothing. Do better Etsy. You wouldn't have a business if it wasn't for us.

Not even worth one star!....Do not order from Her Assembly.I ordered a dress (linen,chiffon) what I got was a crappy piece of cheap polyester. I reached out to the seller to ask for a refund and direction of how to return.NO RESPONSE!...I cannot open a "case" till 100 days have passed..lmfao..Sent her two messages now and still no response...I'm out 70 bucks!..:(..

Most of the time I've got what I ordered from a Company on Etsy. However my last experience has made me think there are many scammers operating on the website. I would think twice before using Etsy again. They need to "clean up" their system and weed out the criminals.

Not able to open a seller account

I have had an Etsy account for almost a decade. When I attempted to open a seller account, their automated fraud prevention system rejected me despite me completing the full verification process with a valid identity document. I contacted support via chat first but the agent never recorded my case. I then emailed support and received a template response from agent Nami saying the decision was final with no explanation. I disputed this and specifically requested escalation to a supervisor. Instead of escalating, a second agent named Dijon sent me the exact same template response word for word. Neither agent read my case or addressed my dispute. Their system wrongly rejected a long-term account holder and their support failed at every level.

Insists on mysterious ETSEU code for refund

This website is a scam. You order something, they cancel it from their end, they promise to refund but never do. You complain and when they realize you did not pay insured (paypal, creditcard) the tone changes and they insist they need an ETSEU code for the transaction, which is a nonsense request. There it stops. You lost your money. Never buy here again.

I am extremely disappointed with Etsy’s Support team. I had a clear case of a seller (FlashMouseMods) being unresponsive during a shipping crisis with Deutsche Post. Despite Etsy acknowledging the issue and providing a refund under 'Etsy Purchase Protection,' they refuse to remove the seller's public response to my review, which contains blatant lies about our communication history.

I provided full chat transcripts as proof, yet Etsy Support (Ticket: 23996160) claims they 'cannot interfere' while simultaneously sending me 'confidential' emails to hide their lack of action. If a seller is allowed to publicly lie to discredit a buyer, Etsy's review system is fundamentally broken. They prioritize high-rated sellers over actual truth and buyer protection.

Absolutely Garbage Customer Service

Garbage customer service, you are not safe there as a seller as a lot of scammers send you daily messages pretending that they want to buy to just can steal your bank details. Also, I had no access to my account and they ask me “ security questions “ details from my account to can give me access to my account. Imagine the stupidity!

Not reviewing the ‘shops’ but Etsy itself. It used to be a good place to find things homemade, unique pieces. Then they started trying to compete with Amazon. First they did Insider membership- which was nice in its initial year then they did a 189 and it’s worth nothing for the price. Then customer service went downhill, then they started having shops that just resold crap and gave no help when trying to get it. Etsy is awful now, it’s a shame

Etsy customer service is non existent

I had to change my email due to mine being changed and the original deleted. This was not possible without access to the original one

Thinking it would be simple I reached out to their Customer Services explaining the situation, answered their security questions only to be met with someone new in the chat who clearly didn't read the history and asked the same, again I replied

Lo and behold someone else replied asking the same again and about 10 more questions, excessive even for GDPR and unnecessary

I asked them to cancel my account as it was getting ridiculous but would let me set up a new one but no replied

Within the app the amount of review requests and chasers for reviews especially if you order 4 items from the same person, surely needing 1 not 4 is really irritating too

I managed to close it eventually myself but I'm loathed to use them going forward and have deleted the app also

I am basted in EU and have a small vintage business on this platform. Since the law changes about tariffs from US, I have a very bad experience with customers reviews. Now buyers leaving 3 ; 2 stars just because of shipping cost and additional fees. Its nothing to do with my shop and its out my control. This is really frustrating that the customer writing reviews only about the taxes, without mentioning the item or the service. My shops rating dropped because of this. PLEASE DO THE OPTION TO RATE THE BUYERS!!! It will be the fair option, and the honest sellers will get less not relevant reviews.

Etsy is a scam. Avoid it!!!

Didn't get my order even after waiting for 5 and half months, didn't get replacement or refund from seller. Etsy's customer support says that I need to open the case, but option to open case is grayed out.
Etsy's customer support directed me to seller and seller directs me back to Etsy's customer support.
Won't be using either ever again, it's just scam...

Years-Loyal Customer Shocked – Support Closes Case in <1 Minute Without Reading Complaint

I've been an Etsy customer for years, but this experience is unbelievable. I opened a case about a Sydney-based seller who ruined my Father's Day gift (March 19th in Spain): Ordered on March 7th for fast local Sydney delivery; their confirmation promised quick tracking, but no proactive updates. I followed up March 13th (no reply), 17th (vague 11pm response too late), 18th, and 19th—gift never arrived, occasion missed.

Etsy's "support" was a disaster: Prewritten, generic messages with zero personalization. They closed my case automatically in LESS THAN 1 MINUTE—impossible to have read the full conversation history! Despite claiming to be a "human-led" company, this feels entirely automated and robotic. No real investigation, no empathy, just instant dismissal. Complete lack of professionalism from a platform I trusted.

Deeply disappointed—no more future purchases and advise others to beware.

Account Banned for Zero Reason

For unknown reasons, these buffoons banned my account and denied my appeal without ever giving me a reason. I'm not a seller; I'm a buyer who'd been shopping on Etsy for years. I'm just a sweet little old lady, but for some reason, these morons think I'm some sort of threat. The sellers should be complaining that their platform does not even try to reinstate good customers who get banned for no reason. I'm assuming there's a glitch it Etsy's system that they either don't know how, or are too lazy or proud to fix.

I want to warn others about a WITCH on Etsy named MythValespells (Evelyn from Louisiana, US) who scammed me.

She claimed to perform “revenge spells” and other magic services. After I paid the initial amount, she kept asking for more money, saying I needed a “booster.” Then she told me I have “black magic” and demanded even more payments to remove it.
I never received anything—no results, no proof, nothing. Just constant pressure to keep paying.
I also opened a case on Etsy, but she did not respond and did not refund my money.
This is clearly a scam tactic: they scare you into believing something is wrong and then keep asking for more money.
Please be careful and do not fall for this. If you’ve had a similar experience with this seller, share it here.
I’ve already reported this to Etsy and I hope they take action.
