Please AVOID

Please AVOID
My dog never had any issue with them, so I basically paid 3 years and did not cost anything.
Now that my dog is 9 they tripled the amount to be paid from 500 to 1500 which is scandalous. I can understand that they increase it a bit, but x3 ?
Not worth spending money there.

Total abuse of trust and violation of contract

Their arbitrary and unlawful changes to the contract during an ongoing insurance claim, reducing coverage without justification, are a clear violation of legal standards. Customer service offers no transparency or willingness to correct their illegal actions.

NO stars would be better. Be warned, they bind you to a contract and you will never be able to claim anything. If you want a nightmare, sign up to them.

Epona: Awful insurance company... never again!

Awful insurance company. I've insured my two dogs with them for 8 years without a single claim. Now, they've raised the premium drastically, making it unaffordable (505CHF for 1 year for 1 dog with a 1000CHF excess!). Just when my dogs might need the assurance of pet insurance, I'm forced to cancel. Epona, NEVER again!

I have never experienced such a…

I have never experienced such a terrible customer service, it's incredible. I have been struggling with them for over a year. This year they significantly increased their prices telling me they made a mistake with their prices last year. I filled in a form in order for them to call me back and explain to me. We had a confirmed phone call appointment today at 10.25. I was waiting more than a week for this phone call. They just didn't call and there is no way to call them. They deserve to be sued for all the mess they are creating with all the other clients as well, this has been going on for far too long.

I wouldn’t recommend at all. I have a case which is pending since over 3 months, no answer despite several calls and emails. Don’t trust this company.

Long Wait but Successful Outcome

I must admit the wait for my reimbursement was very long (5 months). I have been insured with Epona for at least 20 years. Up until recently all cases were handled without any problems. As of last year, however, their processing slowed down dramatically and as other have written here it was very difficult to contact them either by phone, mail or otherwise to find out what was going on. However, I recently needed to file another claim and when I made this new claim I saw that Epona had indeed modernised its internet site and tools for which to make claims. I made the new claim, and under the appropriate section resent all paperwork for my previous claims. Within two days I received an email with notice of my reimbursement - all correct - and 4 days later the amount due was on my account.

I believe the company has had problems over the last 18 months (complicated by Covid rules requiring Home Office) modernising its IT and claims systems but now seems to have it up and running successfully and is now back on track. For that reason I will continue to stay insured with Epona because I trust it will serve me faithfully as it has for many years.
