Gross Negligence

My father was a long-term resident for many years, and the level of negligence he experienced in his final days was appalling.

After a brief hospital stay, he was discharged in the evening with doctor's orders to be given pureed foods only due to a serious choking risk from esophageal cancer. I asked a staff member to give him Boost that night and planned to speak with the doctor and hospice about what he could safely and comfortably consume first thing in the morning,. However, I didn't get that chance. Despite the doctor's orders, Solon Pointe served him pasta salad and green beans that night instead of Boost (without informing me, his primary point of contact and next of kin), and according to the hospice worker who said he was eating when she left the room and the records that show he died with that food on his lap within a few minutes, he tragically passed away during that unauthorized meal.

Following his death, it took nearly a week to receive any response from Erin Kostas, the Director of Administration, despite two emails and two voicemails over a period of six days. When she finally returned my call, it was a brief voicemail six days later and I wasn't able to get her on the phone until I insisted on waiting on hold until she became available, no matter how long that took. She picked up right away after that.

When I spoke to Erin, she refused to provide any information about my father’s death (even the most basic information on his care or why I had not been contacted sooner). When I expressed my frustration at the lack of empathy, her only response was, “I said I was sorry for your loss,” with an alarming lack of compassion or professionalism in her tone.

Research shows Solon Pointe consistently receives 2-3 stars on most other review platforms, and ProPublica reports show nurse turnover is around 67% (compared to the state average of 51%) and 32 reported deficiencies, and medicare rates it 1 star due to poor health inspections.

This facility’s gross negligence is horrifying.

Disappointing

This is not what I expected at all. I thought this was a great place to work in, but I was only disappointed. Employees are overworked because of the lack of employees. This means that tasks are concentrated only on a few employees. This also means that you'll often be forced to work overtime to accomplish the tasks assigned to you. It was a very disappointing work experience for me.

Do not even consider them

My mother had the worst experience here. She complaint to often and when we looked into it, we realized that she was not getting the care that she deserved. We had to look for another healthcare provider.
