Illegal practices?

I have had a GLCU Visa for decades. My APR was/is 9.99% (arbitrarily changed to variable). I have NEVER had a late payment. GLCU gave over their credit card service to Elan earlier this year. Now, without notifying me Elan raised my APR to 14.99% and applied it to all my past purchases balance!! My credit score is in the upper 700's and into the 800's often, so that isn't the issue. The issue is that Elan told me that the government "required" them to raise my rate because the prime rate went up, which is false. In fact it's a lie. The raise is policy at Elan, not government required. GLCU never raised my rate for decades even when the prime went up. Elan today agreed to lower the rate back to 9.99% for the next 6 months and said no, I'd have to check back in 6 months to see if I can keep it. I asked if I would be notified before they try to raise it again and I was told to check my statements, which are never sent and only available online. I now don't trust these people. Not when they do things like this and don't notify customers. Signed into law May of 2009, the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act (or CARD act), requires the following: "Under the CARD Act, interest rate hikes can only retroactively apply to past purchases if the cardholder has missed two consecutive payments." I have not missed a payment in well over a decade. Elan is doing business illegally, and I will be making a complaint to the FED.

Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service. I can't believe that Fidelity Financial chose this company to be the go to credit card provider for their long time investment clients. Do yourself a favor and stick with a real banking institution and stay away from Elan.

Elan financial ruined my credit score…

Elan financial ruined my credit score from 820 to 633 because their autopay function did not work on 3 occasions and left a balance. I would have to call them every month and they would tell me something different each time. They acknowledge your frustration while never solving the problem and leaving you to hold the bag. i finally asked the supervisor after 12 months to close the account. She told me i had no rewards points and she closed the account and i had 39000 points 2 days later. These people are creeps. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.

I moved out of state and changed my address on the card. I paid off the card and had a credit balance of $1,700 due to a refund on a transaction. Despite this, when I tried to buy a $700 item at Best Buy, the online transaction was repeatedly declined. When I tried it the first time, I got a call to contact the fraud department. I did and verified everything. The person told me to wait 2 minutes and the transaction would go through. It didn’t. I repeated this “try the transaction, call the fraud department” several times until the person told me there was just nothing they could do. Eventually I was blocked from even logging into my own account. Imagine having a credit on your card and verifying your identity repeatedly but the credit card company just says no. You can’t use your own money. Ridiculous. Now I have to contact some authentication department. What will I have to do? Give them a DNA sample?

We have been with Elan for 13 years

We have been with Elan for 13 years. Never had a problem until June 2023. We opened a dispute against Parts Geek, they sold us some bad wheels, then said they would not replace or refund the $609.45. I opened the dispute but never heard anything back from Elan asking for more information. I received a letter from them stating they were closing the dispute. I called to try and get the dispute re opened, they shut our card off saying they had to verify who we were, no one called back, we were on vacation at the time and our card was declined. Been on the phone with them again today 06/19/2023 and they refuse to help us in any way! My point is this when you need them, they are NOT going to be there for you!

Got a card thru my bank which ended up being through elan. Have never been able to get logged into the app to pay. When I call they just keep transferring me and I never talk to anyone. Now I’m past due and they dropped my credit line by 70% with one missed payment. This place is makes it hard so they can collect as much interest as they can early. No interest in having people actually using their cards. 0 stars.

The worst customer service imaginable!! Avoid at all costs!! You will be transferred from one to the next to the next representative with absolutely no clue what they are doing. 5 reps later and 32 minutes (long distance internationally) I hung up because its not worth having a heart attack over.

Elan is by far the WORST credit card…

Elan is by far the WORST credit card company I've ever dealt with. The level of irony that they maintain is such that you would think they're trolling you. For example, there have been multiple times when I've used my card to make a purchase and the card will be declined. More often than not the purchase being made is random and seemingly benign ( say an order from Pizza Hut under $20 including tip ) yet it's still for no specific reason declined. For quite a few years, I just chalked it up to the quirky ways of this ass backward company. Thank God this isn't my only credit card and I feel bad for anyone who is in the situation of having to rely solely on Elan. If you dare call customer service you're bombarded with at least six security questions - then they want to send you a security code to confirm that you're you. My AMEX card doesn't require this level of security. Now comes the irony - there have been multiple times that my card has been hacked. No warning, no notification... nothing. Yet when I want to use the card for my Pizza Hut delivery, the card gets declined and put on hold. After a half hour of getting grilled by customer service for having dared call them the reps invariably turn out to be blithering fools On my last call to these displeasing dolts, I was transferred to two or three people ( admittedly, I did lose my temper once or twice ) the last of which sounded like they were a patient of a methadone clinic ! Good riddance to this horrible, horrible company. Please if you're not a customer of theirs don't become one, you'll regret it

great if you pay in full every month-…

great if you pay in full every month- was offered a balance transfer option- after checking multiple times this would not interfere with future purchases being charged interest with the wording on the papers, and was assured it would not- guess what it does and interest begins the first time the card is used after the transfer posts- seems stupid and a great way for them to skim cash off of you

The worst 3rd party company on the…

The worst 3rd party company on the planet. Had my card for 2 years. Each month I paid the card off for whatever charges I had put on the card. I went to use the card yesterday & the transaction was declined. I called to see why & I was given incorrect information by 3 representatives & disconnected 2 times. Called back & asked to speak to a supervisor. I was told by her the previous information I was given was incorrect & my account was on hold due to fraudulent reasons. I asked what & why? She preceded to tell me I need to submit 2 years of tax returns, 2 months of bank statements, a copy of my SS card, a copy of my DL & another piece of mail showing my current address. And if I didn’t get this done within 15 days the bank was going to close my account & it would go on my credit report as a bank closure. I asked what the balance was & she said $79.00. $79.00??? that little amount & I’m considered to be a fraud risk. I WILL NOT be sending in the documents that were requested.
Close my account & good luck getting the $79.00, if you are going to report my account as being bank closed, go ahead and add $79.00 to that.

Trash

Trash card. Switched multiple business and personal accounts and credit cards from Chase to Bank of Oklahoma, a BIG mistake.

Not once did BOK mention that their credit cards were completely managed by a third party, Elan Financial. Nor did they mention that automated payments are not an option.

Everything about this place seems sleazy. Every time I log in to their portal, my account tells me my balance and upcoming payment due are zero when I know I have a balance and upcoming payment.

They won't let me set automatic payments and don't want to tell me how much my upcoming payment or balance is! What kind of company does that in 2023?? They're just trying to collect late payment fees and disqualify 0% introductory rates and give everyone the interest shaft. I don't know what's worse, Elan Financial or Bank of Oklahoma for referring my business to them.

RUDE & ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR FROM FULTON BANK/ELAN FINANCIAL, CLOSE YOUR CC ACCT NOW BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!!!1

I most recently had to dispute a credit card charge back in December of 2022 because I had cancelled the order with the merchant and the merchant accidentally sent the item out in error. After contacting the merchant they instructed me to simply refuse the package and have it returned to them via the same carrier. I did exactly as instructed. Elan Financial who handles disputed charges as well as fraud charges were the ones to handle this case. I just got in the mail a letter stating that they were taking away the temporary credit from my account and re-charging me for the purchase that the merchant had responded to the charge dispute and that they could no longer help me. I immediately called my bank which is Fulton who transferred me over to Elan's dispute/fraud department and the gentleman in the department who answered the phone was abusive and rude. I tried to explain to him that Elan was not using the proper protocol under the Visa/Mastercard rules and regulations and that their dispute department did not give me the opportunity to refute or send in a written rebuttal to the merchant's response, they simply took the merchant's word as "gospel" and reversed out the provisional credit and told me it was my problem. Then this William slaps a fraud block on my account because he claimed that he didn't think he was speaking to the cardholder which is me. This made absolutely no sense because the account had not only been verified once through their automated system but through their customer service dept. that transferred the call to him. I hung up on William because of the abuse and called back. Customer service told me that they couldn't talk to me because William had placed a fraud block on the account because he didn't think I was the card holder????. I was transferred to security or wherever and I had to go through a litany of questions like what is your sister's name and so on and so forth before this arbitrary block could be removed and then from that point forward every time I would call to address the dispute issue they would slap another fraud block on the account no matter how much I identified myself. It was an absolute shi* show. From all the reps in the customer service department to the dispute department and fraud they have made my life simply unbearable. Emotionally to think someone doesn't think you are who you are when you call to get credit card info is inexcusable. I drove to the local Fulton branch today thinking they could possibly get somewhere and they had the same issues I had. They told the branch manager Deb that they didn't believe I was the cardholder eventhough the branch manager had my drivers license as well as my credit card in hand. She was running into the same issues as I had been running into for days. It was almost as if they didn't believe her either and as I expected she got absolutely nowhere claiming that Elan is a 3rd party acting for Fulton bank..... it was just a huge mess!!!!!!!!!! I left the branch feeling horrible. I phoned my brother who is an attorney and he was horrified by the treatment I was receiving from Fulton as well as Elan and simply told me to "shut it down" close the account and pay off the balance and get the hell out of the company and part ways. He said the dispute issue could still be worked on and that he would assist me in getting the matter reopened and rectified but to close the account down immediately. Last night I closed the account and I'm still waiting for the caseworker who is working this particular dispute to call me back after days of waiting. My only advice to people is to STAY AWAY PLEASE FROM THESE PEOPLE. THEY WILL LITERALLY DRIVE YOU INSANE!!!! RUDE AND ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR FROM THESE PEOPLE. A NIGHTMARE BEYOND NIGHTMARES.

There is no worse credit card company…

There is no worse credit card company to deal with than this one. Customer service & online service are nonexistent. Here, even when you sign up for email, text & check your online account "messages" they'll still send you a letter about your account that comes in snail mail to make false claims in an attempt to rob you and/or send your account into delinquency.

Avoid it at all cost.

They are the WORST credit card company!!!! You wait for at least a 1/2 hour to get someone to speak to you with customer service. They take weeks to update your payments. So, you never have available credit. Then, why do you need their credit card? Exactly, do not get a credit card with them!!! I promise you WILL REGRET IT!!!

Burger King of Financial Services

I've seen bad customer service before, but Elan takes the cake. It's pretty impressive how consistently bad they are.
I had already contacted Apple about adding my Fidelity Visa card to apple wallet so I contacted Elan. I'd rather fight Mike Tyson in his prime than contact Elan, but I had no choice. So we go through all the highly complicated steps of RESTARTING MY APP which of course doesn't work, so the lady at Elan says "sorry bro" contact Apple.
Well, I contact apple again and they do every diagnostic in the world and explain how their system works that this error is not even possible to be on their side.
I wait a week to recover before contacting Elan again and then the same "restart the app". The lady asked me FIVE times what the error message was. It was "error, contact your card issuer". I thought that was a pretty simple and straightforward message, but Elan once again somehow made it complicated. So the lady says "hey, idk what im doing so im going to transfer you to web services". I wasn't sure how this was related to web services, but who knows?
So I get transferred to Shamira, and she cuts me off mid sentence telling me this is a card issue and transfers me back to the original customer service I called...
So I tell this lady what happened and she was like "let me get a supervisor", all i thought was "this is gonna be entertaining". The supervisor Steven was more clueless than them (which is pretty impressive). You're better off contacting the chimpanzee at your local zoo than Elan Financial Services. Please Fidelity, choose a new card issuer.

Refusal to Process a Credit to my account

A vendor has granted me credit but U.S. Bank's Elan Credit Card services will not process the credit. It is for $77 and the vendor processed it on 2-20-23. Elan referees me back to the vendor and they have provided the credit order and authorization number.

I would give a zero if possible

I would give a zero if possible. We received several gift cards for referrals from a construction company. Thought we had used them all some time ago however found one. Went online to check the status and it did not work. Called and agent would not give me any information as I did not know the original balance or transaction. When asking for a supervisor said hold would be up to an hour. This system is set up to rip people off due to their 'policies'. I have never not been able to call and get a balance on any card, except this one.
