We were travelling down to Gatwick and…

We were travelling down to Gatwick and had a blow out on the M6 Toll Road. Andrea recovered us from E&S Motors. She was totally professional and knowledgeable. Handled the car with care and then took us to Rugeley Kwik Fit to have our tyre replaced. I would recommend E&S and particularly Andrea who was excellent. 👌

Recovery and repair fantastic

I was rescued by Dave from the side of the M6 in rush hour traffic- arrived within an hour and was super professional, friendly and very kind. Another fantastic experience with E&S. I went on to have my car repaired by Sanj and the team and cannot rate them highly enough. I wish I’d found them sooner. Top service from the breakdown team, Queens in reception Kayleigh and Gaye and the team of mechanics. Thank you E&S!

After breaking down on the M6 motorway for the second time in a few days and waiting for hour's we were glad to see your recovery truck and your driver Alpar

Recovery damage and poor attitude

Have had our car recovered via Mercedes-Benz Roadside Assistance, who have RAC deal with their roadside recoveries and RAC send out E&S Motors to collect my vehicle and move it to Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham.

In the process of 2 separate recoveries both done by E&S Motors, they have managed to do some extensive damage to my car.

After receiving my car back after its first recovery the rear diffuser was unclipped on the one side, which I reported to Mercedes-Benz

During the second recovery a few days later, they have managed to damage the bodywork around the tow-bar eye area, they even left the tow bar in the car when dropping it off to Mercedes. They did not notify me nor did Mercedes too, which is a separate issue. They scrapped the car pulling it onto the truck, when I suggested using wooden planks to the driver he dismissed me by telling me “I only use planks if I think the job requires them”. When I challenged him on scrapping the bottom of my car on his recovery truck as it was being pulled up, he told me it was only minor. When the car was returned to me, there is clear damage to the underside of where he hit the car on the truck, the bumper has been dislodged and Mercedes have confirmed there is damage to the headlight area which requires repair. There are flaps loose, again where the car was scrapped. All this damage was done during my second recovery by E&S Motors.

Currently I am in the process of putting in a complaint to RAC and Mercedes-Benz rather than E&S Motors directly as I never instructed them to collect the vehicle. They were instructed through Mercedes-Benz and RAC’s networks, so I have been told they will deal with all communications and that I do not need to contact E&S Motors myself for that same reason.

I will aim to update when I hear something of note.

UPDATE: This company has had to “update” their response to my review 3 times at this point. Initially they leaked GDPR and had their response deleted by Trustpilot themselves. Then they claimed my claim is fraudulent, now they claim they did not cause the damage. Damage which is directly around the tow bar, the tow bar which they are supposed to remove on dropoff but instead they left in the vehicle after dropping it off at the dealership. RAC has also accepted liability for the damage, so I have no knowledge of who has been held accountable but 2 and a half months after my original claim, I have had an acceptance of liability from them. Now still awaiting the authorisation of repair.

We will respond to this review as it raises the same concerns previously submitted. We take feedback seriously, however we must clarify several important points.

E&S Motors attended as a subcontracted recovery operator on behalf of RAC and Mercedes-Benz Roadside Assistance. The booking, instructions and any claim handling are controlled by those organisations, not by E&S Motors directly. At the time of writing, we have not yet been contacted by RAC regarding this matter, which is not unusual following periods of exceptionally high demand due to recent severe weather.

Before any vehicle is loaded, our operatives are required to complete a condition check and capture photographic evidence of the vehicle. All images are automatically time and date stamped and uploaded to our secure system and cannot be altered. This is a mandatory part of our operating procedure.

The first recovery took place on 16/02/25 and the vehicle was photographed prior to loading. Our records show the rear diffuser was already detached on the nearside and there was existing significant impact damage to the front lower splitter, which would affect panel alignment. These areas were photographed, the system automatically time and date stamps the photos taken on scene which are then uploaded to the Cloud based recovery management system; they cannot be altered or changed, and they clearly show the damage to the rear diffuser and front splitter as pre-existing before any recovery activity was undertaken. The photo taken after delivery also shows no damage below the towing the eye, again, this is timestamped.

For this reason, we do not accept that the damage described in this review was caused by E&S Motors, and we hold supporting evidence on file.

Our drivers are trained to load vehicles using appropriate methods based on the situation presented, and professional conduct is expected at all times. Any comments regarding attitude are reviewed internally.

As the recovery was arranged via RAC and Mercedes-Benz, they are the correct parties to investigate, inspect and determine liability. We will continue to cooperate fully and provide our reports and photographic evidence as required.

We appreciate that situations like this can be frustrating, however our response must be based on documented facts rather than assumption.

Brilliant service for Disabled people

I am 76 disabled suffer from various disabilities and every time I breakdown now I ask Green Flag if they will send E+S Motors. They have looked after me for a few years now as my previous garage owner retired. I have had several repairs and MOT's with them and can't fault them for Honesty and Integrity. Due to my osteoarthritis they bend over backwards to help. My No 1 supplier.

Warranty, Money Grabbers, Rude, Unprofessional, Poor Customer Service, Management Is Shocking! DO NOT APPROACH THIS GARAGE

Upon arrival, I informed the staff that the AA recovery man had advised the fault was likely a collapsed clutch bearing. A receptionist rudely stated, “We need to strip the car,” without offering to carry out any form of diagnostic.

Concerned, I immediately contacted my warranty provider, where a helpful female advisor advised not to authorise any stripping and instead request a diagnostic check only, after which my warranty provider would assess the next steps. I relayed this request clearly to E&S Motors, more specifically the manager.

After waiting two hours, the garage manager emerged and refused to conduct a diagnostic check. Instead, he pressed the clutch pedal, shone a torch briefly and declared this an "inspection" - clearly inadequate and unprofessional. He then demanded payment in an impolite manner and insisted the vehicle needed stripping. When I refused, the staff became dismissive and unprofessional. His body language, repeated sighing, and statement - “You’re wasting five minutes of my time” - were disrespectful and unnecessary. This is completely unacceptable treatment of a paying customer in distress.

Adding to the confusion, I was quoted between £600–£1,000 for a repair by one female colleague at the reception at E&S Motors, while the manager stated no quote could be given without stripping the vehicle. This inconsistency raises serious questions about the integrity of this garage and I really urge this to be investigated. I will be escalating this with the relevant parties to ensure this garage is investigated and I strongly urge everyone reading this review not to attend this garage.

I ended up privately towing my car to a different garage who have successfully done diagnostic checks and have provided me with a reasonable quote. AVOID AT ALL COSTS FOR YOUR OWN MENTAL HEALTH!

We take all complaints very seriously and always investigate to determine what went wrong and how we can improve. We are human and do make mistakes, and we appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns directly.

You contacted us to confirm whether we worked with a particular warranty provider, our Service Reception confirmed that we do. As explained at the time, for that warranty provider, the initial authorisation for vehicle strip work must come directly from the customer. The warranty company then reviews the cause of failure before approving any repairs. This is standard practice across most warranty companies, as they require clear evidence of failure before covering costs.

It was also previously agree that the vehicle would be inspected on Monday, as Friday afternoons are typically fully booked with ongoing customer repairs,

From our team’s account, most of the conversation with reception was with your colleague. He was insistent that the vehicle be looked at immediately, despite you being advised before the vehicle even arrived that we would inspect it on Monday. Nonetheless, our Service Manager stepped away from his repair work to assist.

Regarding your colleagues repeated insistence for a diagnostic check, our Service Manager explained that an electronic diagnostic via OBD would not reveal any useful information in this case, as the suspected issue was mechanical.

The Service Manager found that the clutch pedal was loose and that the clutch master cylinder, attached to the back of the clutch pedal by a plastic rod, had become detached. He demonstrated this to you, showing both video and photos, and explained that this needed to be repaired first before any further investigation. At that point, the car could not be started because it was unable to recognise the clutch pedal being pressed.

The likely next step would have been to simply replace the clutch master cylinder, get the car running, and go from there.

At no point did our Service Manager request payment from you. As a policy, we only take payment once repairs are completed or, in rare cases, where non-refundable special-order parts are required. Our Service Manager has worked with us for years and is known for being calm and courteous; he categorically denies making any statement such as “you’re wasting my time.” Such behaviour would be wholly out of character for him.

Regarding the 'inconsistency in pricing' when you first arrived, your colleague repeatedly asked Service Reception for a price before any inspection had even taken place. Based on your description of a possible clutch thrust bearing failure, our receptionist provided a very rough estimate when pressed for one, while also making clear that proper pricing could only be given after assessment. The Service Manager later explained that a more accurate quotation could be provided once the actual fault and parts were identified. We recognise how this may have caused confusion and will remind our team to ensure consistency and clarity in all future communications.

E&S Motors is a local, family-run business that has served this community for many years. We employ local people, who in turn provide for their families. We take pride in being transparent and fair with our customers. While we regret that you were dissatisfied with your experience, we do not believe your emails and reviews accurately reflects what occurred. In your email you stated that you wanted further review or investigation by The Motor Ombudsman or Trading Standards, we would welcome this so that an independent third party can fairly assess the situation.

We genuinely regret that your visit left you disappointed, and we appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention. We hope that through an impartial review process, you can be reassured that we have not sought to undermine, or insult, you or your colleague in anyway, on what was already a tricky Friday afternoon.

Excellent service for recovery and repairs to my car

E&S motors recovered my car when it broke down and then I booked it in with them to have the repairs done. I can't fault them at any stage. The staff were all really helpful and kept me fully informed. My car is now running again but I'd be very happy to use this garage again for general repairs

E&S Motors: Great and Friendly Service

Via Green Flag, E & S Motors despatched Gary to come to me in Wolverhampton after I'd mislaid my motorcycle key. I cannot thank Gary enough for the fantastic service he provided transporting me, all my gear and motorcycle to Essex. He should write a book of all his experiences over the years as he regaled me with many stories and insight into his trade which made the journey so much less painful than it would have been. Thanks again Gary.

es motors recovery worst company we have ever had to deal with no experienced mechanics at all we had the worst service you could get of them one recovery truck and one service van to remove a swan neck tow bar that had got stuck under another car the other car had run into the back of our car our tow bar had got lodged in his front bumper es motors took over three hours to deal with the issues all they had too do was remove two bolts of the swan neck and tow unit would have dropped of not one off them had a clue how to deal with the problem as a recovery driver for 20 years with another company they are bunch of cow boys playing at recovery dont give you much faith on getting anything done if they turn up the best part about how to remove the swan neck of the car and they ignored her a 10 min job took them over 3 hrs what a joke of a company or shall i put it another way playing for time so they could bump the costs up the was a accident on the Cannock orbital reg ku99lbl vauxhall merriva rear damage from a Kia two trucks come out and not one of them had a clue how to remove a swan neck tow bar two bolts that's all it took it took 4hrs to remove a tow bar what a scam company es motors just play mechanics also your company was advised by my self how to remove tow bar. M6 Breakdown …

I unfortunately had an engine coolant failure on my 17 plate Mondeo taxi whilst driving home from Birmingham Airport recently.

I phoned my Breakdown company and informed them of my predicament and they sent me a text message to say E & S motors had been informed of my breakdown and would be with me in an hour.

They arrived 20 minutes earlier than stated and their assistance associate could not have been more friendly and understanding, along with my passengers were told to sit inside the her truck while she attended to my car quickly and efficiently on getting it on the flatbed.

She got my passengers to a safer place close to their home and myself and car to the garage of choice.

Unfortunately I didn’t get her name but top marks to her and E & S motors for a very professional job.

Recovery for an old Lotus

E & S Motors were call out to recover my old Lotus which had broken down on the Chester Rd on the 50mph section. We were glad to see Waseem and his recovery vehicle turn up as it was now dark and his vehicle's flashing lights made the situation much safer. Great care was taken to load the vehicle carefully and deposit the car back home. Waseem also made sure the car was safely put away in the garage. Very happy with the service given and would recommend them as an excellent recovery service

Dave is a credit to you

E&S Motors were called out on behalf of Start Rescue following an RTC on the M6. Dave was an absolute godsend and we're so grateful for his kind, friendly and helpful manner. With three young boys on board, he made it an exciting and fun experience for them despite having their first (and hopefully last!) car crash only an hour before. A really lovely guy that made an awful evening just a little less awful. Thanks Dave.

Thank you SHAUN

Shaun thank you for coming to my rescue. Service was outstanding. When he arrived I was in a bit of shock, his friendly and polite approach helped me calm down. Long story short my brakes stopped working 😱 and car needed to be taken away.

Shaun arrived 30 mins after the pick up had been arranged. He called me to let me know he was on his way. He told me how long he would be and was there exactly when he said. He confirmed the location of where my car was going.

I asked if Shaun could go around my car and take note that the car had no damages and dents as it’s in perfect condition he did this and assured me my car would arrive to the garage in the state of how he had taken it. Thank you.

He really did take care with my car.

Shaun asked me how I was going to get home I informed him someone was on their way, Shaun said he would wait with me until they arrived “what’s five more minutes as long as your ok”. That’s very kind.

Percy to the rescue!

My car wouldn't start and E&S were sent out by the AA. Percy was the technician who came speedily and got my car going again. His manner was impeccable, very friendly and he put me completely at ease in the early hours when I was stressed out. He just couldn't do enough to help.
Percy has a lot of automotive knowledge and while fixing the problem, he gave me advice on an issue on another vehicle I have and that solved that too! With employees like Percy, I'd be happy to use this company again with confidence. Thanks again to that man.
