Shockingly bad site design.

The prices are a joke. It's digital content, there are no printing costs!

File/Library management is awkward at best.

This awful site has a monopoly on digital content, which is the only medium for this hobby.

Do better.

No option to unsubscribe

It's illegal not to have an unsubscribe link in the UK. So I just blocked all emails instead.

Ordered a printed book - got nothing

Ordered a printed book, took the only delivery option given. Now the book has not arrived and they tell me as i took the cheap option ( Not that i had any option, to choose another), am supposed to wait 45 days after sending before they will move even a finger.

Very disappointing "customer Service*.

Just had some great customer service!

I tried to purchase a digital + physical edition of a book, only to realise the "two formats" I purchased were actually both digital!

My bad!

So, I thought I'd try their customer service dept and dropped them a message explaining that I had messed up and asked for a partial refund for the second format of the item.

Turned out they couldn't do that, so they instead issued a complete refund and removed the items (and I then re-purchased the correct format)

The entire transaction took less than ten minutes! No problems or arguing from customer services... Just polite understanding and a wish to help the customer.

THAT is how you do customer service.

Impossible Scenario to Use

The site is getting harder and harder to use - and I do use it a lot. When researching problems, I find articles that say they have been experiencing problems with the new interface - but after several years these have not been fixed

The other suggestion is to use the legacy site. That does operate more efficiently but then removes all of my discount codes and charges full price

My latest issue has been that if I try to refresh the page because the cart won't load, not only does it not load but indicates that the number of items has doubled - so now it exceeds the maximum number but won't let me do anything to correct it

The frustrating part is there does not seem to be any competition so they don't actually have to fix their site...

***UPDATE*** Cleared my cache and logged in again. Items in cart have doubled to 320+...

***FURTHER UPDATE*** Managed to clear the cart but now it has been filled with items again. Also refuses to accept discount coupons provided by email from the site. Once again unfortunate that this is, in reality, the only way to access PDFs for many RPGs as I would happily use another service if offered

November 2024, unable to buy

November 2024, I tried to buy a game and 2 books on the site from Switzerland. Unable to pay, even with 2 differents way, one time with credit card direct and second time with paypal without success ???!!. I followed all instructions mentioned on the site-> no success. I buy regulary on the web without problems. I contacted the support, don't answer first time to my remark, second time without answer. I asked them if they are blacklisted by some of credit card company... So, on this site there are some interesting products, but what is the point if you can't buy them....

Great pod company

I have been using them for like the past two years; great pod service and huge catalog.
I am actually surprised by the negative comments. Drivethrurpg is a well-known website among the rpg community, and it is usually well appreciated.
I got an issue with one of my order for the first time three weeks ago; I contacted them, they replied swiftly and sent me a replacement for one book which had a printing default (I ordered like 12 books from them and never had any issue in the past). So great customer service for me.
The only negative thing if I were to be nitpicky is the packaging of physical copy which should be sturdier, but that's a small detail really.
Def recommend

The new website is terrible

The new website is terrible. Both aesthetically and in practice. I can't make any purchases due to an error on the new site. I keep getting an error, an error, which informs me, that, "We cannot confirm if you were charged."

Good at taking the money

Good at taking the money, good at not caring. Myself (and a few others) have been charged for pdf purchases and not receiving the files. Drivethrurpg CS are all to quick to wash their hands of it. "We don't see the transaction on our severs, so there's nothing we can do" (even if you include screenshots, receipts). "Its a new a problem we don't understand, so there's nothing we can do" etc etc.

DriveThruRPG did it again...

First order received, book is damaged. They didnt use any protection material. Talked to the customer service. Very nice and helpful person. He sent a new book on its way. I beg them to use proper protection. I received it today, book is damaged. They didnt use any protection material again. I will never buy physical books there again. And I will tell everybody to do the same. I dont think they care about it.

Avoid: negligence + terrible customer service + difficulty in getting refunded

They screwed up my delivery address (even though it was correctly provided by my payment method) and ended up sending my parcel to the wrong country (?!) ... Then I asked for a refund which at first they refused (?!), after some more exchanges they ended up refunding me but blaming me for not checking the delivery address that they printed wrong (?!) -- Overall they're not trustworthy and I had awful experience with their customer service
