Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 21 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed strong disappointment with the 'new improved' taste of the latte macchiato pods, frequently describing them as unpleasant, watery, and bitter. This change led numerous people to feel that the quality of their once-loved coffee has notably declined. Reviewers also encountered product quality issues, such as milk pods leaking and capsules not functioning correctly. Consequently, many long-term users are now stating they will no longer purchase these products and are actively seeking alternative brands. This widespread dissatisfaction has prompted several customers to consider changing their coffee machines entirely.

Why have Dolce Gusto changed the latte macchiato pods? They used to be delicious but they are revolting now. I won't be purchasing any more. Horrible taste.

Have used these pods for years but am noticing that they are getting weaker. I realise coffee is more expensive but we are paying more!. Having to use 2+ Americano pods for a stronger coffee. Sadly we... See more

Fairly decent mid-price coffee machine

Fairly decent mid-price coffee machine. Own brand coffee is fine, especially if you can get it on offer in the supermarkets, their own website is a rip-off. On my 2nd machine, 1st one lasted a few years, we use it c. 4 times a day. 2nd one fairly reliable, tank is smaller than I'd like but overall I'm reasonably happy with it. Don't bother with the Costa brand pods, they split 2 out of 5 times, covering the machine in milk/coffee, a complete mess & a total waste of money.

Dont fully recycle

I noticed on Dolce Gusto website they offer a recycling scheme for coffee pods which was great news as I was looking to change my machine for an alternative brand where I could buy recycled/biodegradeable pods. On contacting Dolce Gusto they tell me you can only get their recycling bags if you place your orders for coffee on their website. Bearing in mind they stock their coffee in 1000s of stores this means more than likely most of their pods wont be recycled. Poor!

Painful Website

Website is so clunky and slow. Why limit orders to £180!? Even when trying to process an order below this, £173, I am still unable to proceed with my order. Garbage.

Don’t accept a noisy machine

We’ve had Dolce Gusto machines for some years and really like the coffee they make, and the fact that they are not very noisy. We recently bought a new Mini Me that vibrated so much that cups were shaken off. Customer service replaced it quickly with no argument - although it took 2 attempts before we got a machine that worked. So 5 stars for service but a lot less for quality control by the machine maker (De Longhi)

I received this machine as a gift

I received this machine as a gift. After using it 3 times it started leaking from the bottom. I contacted the company and long story short unless i have the receipt for my gift there was nothing they can do. What? So I should make the person who got me this as a gift feel terrible that their gift is defective and I now get to see what they paid for it. Poor customer service. I was to try to "reseat" the water container. I explained to them I tried everything but it still leaks. So ...i will be going back to my Keurig. At least they stand behind their product. If I could give a negative * rating I would.

I’ve had great service from this…

I’ve had great service from this company and will definitely keep on using them. I have been ordered if pods from their site for about 2 years and never had an issue until last night. They use Yodel to deliver their parcels. I got a text from Yodel saying they delivered my parcel to a neighbour last night. I was in and have CCTV at the front of my house, at the end of my shared drive. No one knocked on our door and no one tried to deliver anything up my neighbours. I called The customer service and they have felt it with and resent my order, without me having to wait for a lengthy and pointless investigation by Yodel (Which Dorothy Perkins made me do for the 2weeks). My order glitched when I was making it and my free descaling kit wasn’t put on. I emailed and they sent one out the next day. Very pleased with their service and the customer service representative Tat dealt with it was lovely. Thank you.

Decent for the price

I've had a Dolce Gusto machine for around 10 years, without a single fault. It vibrates a lot when making the coffee, but that's about it. It's silly to expect Rolls Royce quality for Citroen money, so I'm not complaining. Make sure you follow the process to get rid of the remaining water in the machine after you've made your coffee.
There are a few different coffee pods to choose from. My favourite is "Cafe au Lait". None of them will be as good as the coffee you get in a decent coffee shop, but they're much better than instant coffee, and very affordable.

Do not buy from this company

Do not buy from this company. My machine developed a fault after 7/8 weeks. Customer Service didn't want to know. They told me that it probably needed descaling or cleaning?? I was told that it would need collecting and it would take at least 20 days. If I could give this company 0 stars I would

Great budget machine

Dolce Gusto is an inexpensive coffee machine that produces coffee better than the UK’s leading coffee shops. I love the latte and it makes a perfect coffee if you more than half fill your cup with the coffee pod, then top up your cup with the milk pod. Same method for cappuccino. Really excellent value for money and totally no craving for shop bought during lockdown. Love it.

Did not come with a manual to operate…

Did not come with a manual to operate the machine. With that I contacted them about this. They pointed out that they do not supply a manual. To learn how to operate the machine I went onto you tube. It is a noisy coffee maker and vibrates badly. Terrible water container, if you are making more than 2 small cups of coffee, then you will have to refill the water. I will never buy another, waste of money

Faulty pods

Machine works fine but some packets have had faulty pods with resulting poor flavour unless manual adjustment. Current cappuccino packet for example has pods with coffee and no milk and other pods milk and no coffee.

Coffee, coffee and more coffee

I have had a Gusto machine for many years, and being a complete coffee freak, I find the range of coffees you offer right up my street. However, just a small point, I find the milk in your cappuccino's rather sweet. As I don't take sugar, I find this spoils my enjoyment. Unless i'm missing something, can you make a cappuccino that is unsweetened please.
