Excellent value for money. We will definitely book more trips with Ogdens in the future.

Coach holiday

Just got back from the Isle of Wight, Trouville hotel, this was our first time on a coach trip. We had booked a home pick up the driver arrived on time and was very pleasant and told us of the other pick ups he would be doing, we were driven to Lymm services where we met up with the rest of the coach party, no worries about our luggage as from when we left home to returning home it was taken care of. Jack was our driver who was very personable and told us about what would be happening, due to good traffic we arrived at the ferry terminal and were able to get an earlier ferry, Jack was an excellent driver . The hotel does need some upgrading however it was very clean and all the staff were friendly and welcoming, it felt very homely. The food was always hot and tasty, if when you had looked at the menu in the morning you wanted something different you could ask the chef and he would give you a different option.
As this trip was out of season a lot of places were closed but the disappointment for the driver was some of the routes he was going to take us on to show us more of the Island the roads were closed due to waterworks but he did give us lots of information and we enjoyed the trips out.
A good place to visit was the wildlife sanctuary, you could walk to it from the hotel or there was a bus you could catch, good cafe there as well.
We would definitely go again on a coach trip

I don’t usually write reviews

I don’t usually write reviews, and like to be positive, but our trip to Chatsworth hotel in Llandudno for New Year was disappointing. Cannot fault our journey or driver, unfortunately I cannot remember his name (sorry!) he was very informative and pleasant. Our twin room was very small, tiny bathroom with sink in bedroom, which was very odd and in convenient.
Food was basic, but edible, entertainment room to small for amount of people staying at hotel, unless you got there early, the only seats left were out of view of entertainers in different rooms.
When I read information on trip it stated there was a trip to Snowdonia, but we were informed by driver that this was not the case as hotel were supplying lunch on the two days we were there. This was disappointing as we would have liked to see more of north Wales and have lunch while we were out, as it was we did not stay in for lunch and wandered around local shops. Journey home was as expected no delays
This was my second holiday with David Ogden although disappointed this trip, I would book again with this company.

David Ogden tour to Trouville Hotel, Isle of Wight

Our trip was to the Trouville Hotel on the Isle of Wight for the first week of November.
Best bit: our coach driver Jack was superb; polite, helpful and eager to keep us informed. He was also an excellent driver
Worst bits: Very poor pre-trip information. Quite a few people did not know that it would be a Turkey and Tinsel stay so didn't come with Christmas clothing - as it was the first week in November this is hardly surprising.
Departure time was only divulged a few days before the trip. Absolutely ridiculous when you are trying to arrange travel to the departure venue. If the trip has been run before then Ogden's should know a ball-park figure for departure.
No information beforehand as to what would be the organised trips. Poor Jack was left to tell us. We were all very unimpressed to discover that Osborne House was closed for the entire week of our stay and most of the places of interest shut down in October for the winter.
The hotel was very disappointing - customer service non-existent.
I would NOT choose to go with Ogden's again - a lot of money for very little.

Harrogate and York at Xmas Sunday special

I was looking forward to going on a overnight trip with David Ogden Holidays. The itinerary was travel to York Xmas Markets with an overnight stay in the Crown plaza hotel in Harrogate, ending with an" Afternoon Tea" before travelling home on the Monday.
What a very disappointment it turned out to be!!!
I was picked up at 7.10 am and didn't get to York while after 12.30pm. After walking into York from the car park, we had about 3 hours to have lunch and a look around.
We returned to the hotel, booked in and advised that our meal was at 7pm.
We arrived at an empty restaurant and was ushered into a corner. We were not given a choice tables and the staff pushed people together and said it was a way to get to know each other. It felt
like we were treated like children and second class citizens.
The menu which was put on the table was very limited and felt like it was created on the cheap, especially for the "Coach trip "
On a positive note the hotel was lovely and the breakfast good.
On departure day we were so looking forward to the Afternoon Tea, which we thought would make up for the disappointing evening meal !!
My goodness were we wrong. It's the worst Afternoon tea I have ever seen. We were ushered into the same restaurant as the night before and told to help ourselves to the "buffet " which consisted of three plates of curled up sandwiches. Ham, egg and tuna with a small carrot cake or scone. We had to get a mug and help ourselves to tea and coffee.
I have never wrote any negative reviews before but I felt that I just have to get this off my chest.
The trip costed £224.00 which in my opinion was not value for money.

I write this experience of our trips…

I write this experience of our trips with David Ogden. We have been on about 4 or 5 trips so far but probably not again as we now have a California camper van.
I give the company top marks. They try to find the best deals for hotels and there has been some challenges mainly with food but mainly inefficiency of serving food at another. Bad experience in Winchester Norton Hotel & Spa, waiting exceptionally long between courses.
My main criticism is about certain passengers who sit on front seat kerb side and think they are Ogdens staff. One of them talking to the driver when he was in heavy traffic on the motorway.
I absolutely do not blame the driver as all the drivers on our coaches have been amazing. You also cannot blame the driver if there is heavy traffic.
There are 2 old biddies who we have had the pleasure to sit near twice. It’s one of these old biddies who should NOT be talking to the driver. The other older biddie cannot shut her mouth from the minute she gets on the coach. She literally has her mouth at full speed talking and criticising people. It’s all “ he said, she said,I said “ from the minute she gets on the coach at Charnock Richard Services to the time she gets off coming home.
If you have the pleasure to be in the 1st 4 seats road side and kerb side this contstant verbal dioarrea might not bother you.
If you think it might be too much then get some ear plugs or listen to music.
I want to reiterate that the coach drivers are amazing and it’s disgusting when some people don’t tip them, especially women.

We went tp the Highlands

We went tp the Highlands, Scotland for 5 days! Late June. Jack our driver was amazing so very good and informative.
This was our first trip with David Ogden Coaches, but never ever again!!!! We did 1,800 miles in 5days an endurance test. The hotel was really bad, poor food, room poor and never cleaned. It is only now that I can bring myself to leave a review, as I got Covid from the trip!! I was poorly. A lady in front of me had a really bad cough and shouldn't have travelled. We asked Jack if the holiday could have been extended which would have been much better!! We phoned the company but the lady who organised the trips was off work
So we will vote with our feet and never go on a trip with David Ogdens coaches!! Please beware!!!!!!

Just retuned from a river cruise on the Danube ,
This is our second river cruise with driver Jack ,I must say how impressed we are with his driving as he drives to the comfort of his passengers , Jack is always helpful and obliging a very pleasant young man .
Both cruises with A-Donna very nice boats staff extremely good , food very German so just Okay.
But lots of choices.
We had one night hotel stops on inward and outward journeys both very clean and spacious but lacking character, the hotel at Bopard was in a wonderful position on the river Rhine such a pity it rained.
We’ve been on a few trips with Ogdens ,always found them to have good Drivers and hotels on the whole have been good , well done to all ,thank you

What a awful experience is describing…

What a awful experience is describing it politely

OUTWARD JOURNEY EXPERIENCE
On Tuesday 27th may I began the day excursion to the Cotswold
Was at the pick up point in St Helens for a early start of 7am
We then went on all that can be described as a guided tour of the local area for 5 pick up points.
We then began our journey on the m6
Traffic was awful on the m6 unfortunately
At this point it was 9-10am
And the driver announced he needed a 45 minute break at Stafford services
Unbelievably We had already been on the coach 3 hours and only got as far as Stafford services
We rejoined the coach then after a while the driver stated we were possibly visiting local villages in Cotswold due to having more time available
Upon getting closer to Cotswold he stated that was no longer possible and we would visit just 1 place stating you wouldn’t see much as it’s raining ( what a excuse)
We finally reached the place of Cotswold at 1230-1245pm ( this is after leaving St Helens at 7am)
The driver then stated please be back at the coach at 4pm
UNBELIEVABLE- 5+ hours travel for 3 hours in 1 location

RETURN JOURNEY EXPERIENCE

We began the return journey back at 4pm
Again the traffic was horrendous on the motorway
What a experience awful
sat on a coach from 4pm till 7pm non stop
Again at 7pm the driver stated he needed to stop at the services for a 45 minute break
(Stating the company was not providing a double driver principle on this trip)
I eventually arrived back at St Helens after again a guided tour for the drop off of passengers at 930pm

14 hour trip to the Cotswold never ever expected or experienced a coach day trip like it I honestly suggest David Ogden staff highly review the booking process and journey time for this trip

Also there was times of concern with respect to the manner of the drivers skills due to his high speeds in bad weather and approaching to corners

Weekend trip to France March
Fiasco at calais ferryyport when the 1.30 pm ferry booking was full also the 4pm crossing so eventually got a ferry at 6.30 pm after waiting all day . Knock on effect was instead of arriving home 8.30 pm Monday evening arrived back 3.30 am Tuesday.!
Can't understand why David Ogden holidays wasn't aware that it was bound to be busy at the port as was the 1st day of French children's holidays.!

I went on a day trip to Bury Market…

I went on a day trip to Bury Market today with my mother yesterday 19/03/25. We were picked up at 10 am at Warrington Central Station, taken to Ashton to meet the coach and then off we went to Bury. All good, a lovely day....... until home time. Back on the coach at 16.15, great, until what should have probably taken an hour became a 3 hour journey going round in circles.
From Bury, we bypassed Warrington, dropped off passengers in Ashton, then onto Newton le Willows, Haycock, Newton le Willows again, St. Helens, Finger Post, Sutton, Peasley Cross, St Helens bus station, then Whiston, Thatto Heath, then onto Prescott!! In fact I'm pretty sure we saw St Helens 4 times!
I've been on many day trips and I know that sometimes they have to 'go round the houses' and that's the way it is, but this was ridiculous, made more so by the fact then when we eventually got back to Warrington, the driver, Joe, had to drive back to the base in St Helens!!! How this can be financially viable for the company is beyond me. This is the 2nd time this has happened to us on a Bury Market day trip, with the same driver. Don't think we'll be booking another. We could have travelled to Majorca in less time.

Trip to the winnock hotel in January

Trip to the winnock hotel in January. Started off bad, as when we arrived and are case brought to the room the case was wet through. we had items that were wet and 2 that where stained I told the driver whom was not interested. Had to wash and dry these on 1 small radiator. Peter the driver was not the best as he talked very little and not informative at all. He also was not well dressed. The coach was never cleaned and windows where filthy. The holiday overall was ok. But more than anything was the total lack of interest in the complaint by anyone in the company. Their reply was we will tell the driver and garage. Todate no apologies . Pity.
