Why isn'ty crossing showing?

Crossed today with vehicle registered to my account, crossing does not show on my account but does when looking at government site. Phoned crossing no. and told payment taken tomorrow at midnight. If it's not it's too late to pay another way without penalty.

Surprisingly understanding

Surprisingly understanding, really good experience.

Had paid upfront for quite a lot of crossings after having issues creating an account at the time of purchasing the car. The crossings run out but I wasn't notified and racked up multiple fines over the next couple of weeks. I appealed the fines explaining what had happened and that I had since made an account and was only made to pay the original crossing fee - great change to how these things usually work.

Did originally try and call the call centre but found them to be somewhat rude. Completing everything online resulted in a much easier experience.

Thank you :)

Disgusting

1. Undue fines
2. Fined somebody else's fine
3. Payment system not fit for purpose
4. Fined despite paying for Dartcharge
5. Needs complete overhaul

Condescending

The Dart Charge call centre person that I spoke to was the most condescending employee of an organisation I have ever had to deal with. Made my blood boil. Such an unpleasant experience dealing with him. The power has clearly gone to his head. They really need to improve their recruitment and training.

Dart Crossing

What a rubbish payment site. It doesn't show you what charges you have incurred or apply to your vehicle, asks you for how many future crossings you want to pay for but nothing about how much you need to pay for the crossing(s) made. Confuse the user, let him make a mistake and whack him with a PCN. Forget the scammers from abroad, we have plenty in this country who we don't scream abuse at

criminal

I find this practice to be bordering on criminal. I had to take a hire car back from the north to the south, and paid my £2.50 a day late. I then received a £2.50 fine because I hadn't paid by midnight the next day. They don't offer the option to pay as we cross, and I can only imagine that many people forget within this short time frame.

It seems intentionally set up to steal everyones hard earned money. I have 3 learning disabilities, and am a vulnerable adult. This system is disgusting.

Pointless having an account…

Used the crossing yesterday having set up an account with a linked card for payment which worked fine 5 weeks ago. Received an email this morning to say my account was suspended and that payment had failed. Logged into my account and card details had disappeared. I reentered them and received another email saying my account was suspended again. Called Dart Charge, hung on for 10 minutes and got through to a guy on a crackly line who was obviously not a native and was very hard to understand. Firstly, he told me he could see I had deleted the card details myself which I knew I hadn’t so I disputed this. He then said I needed to call my bank and it was my card which was at fault. I had made other purchases with the card and knew that there were funds to cover the £2.50 crossing charge so I told him this was nonsense. He then said that I had to pay with another card which I did. I have now closed the account as it’s too much of a headache.

unbelievable inefficiency

unbelievable! how hard can it be to renew a LRDS. Documents sent on -line (and not recognised) and to 2 different email addresses - 3 phonecalls later over 3 evenings, emails to say account successful. Yesterday email to say unsuccessful. So another phonecall today and so much stress. Apparently the bank statement sent for October was not sufficient - a bank statement has to cover a full 3 months! Anyone else know this apparently their website makes it clear. I don't believe it does and now we have to upload on-line again. I'm sure they make it up as they go along. Would give 0 stars if i could. What makes it even worse is that we have lived at this address for 29 years, provided the same documents as before, and have had a dart charge account since the first year!

Dartcharge-crossing Poor Practices

I've had a Dart Charge account ever since the new system came into enforcement. I made a crossing last Thursday, and within less than a week, I received a message stating that my account will be closed if I don't top up. This morning, I received an email indicating that my account is now dormant. These people are a bunch of criminals. They aren't making enough money from fines, so they change the rules to catch out drivers. Now I have to go through the long rigmarole to reactivate my account.

This practice reflects poorly on the Dart Charge company, which seems more focused on profit than on providing a fair and transparent service. Their tactics feel deliberately misleading and exploitative, targeting unsuspecting drivers to boost their revenue. It’s frustrating that the government enables this dishonest behavior, allowing such practices to continue unchecked. It seems like they prioritize profit over the rights and convenience of everyday drivers, leaving us to navigate a confusing and unjust system.

They got it wrong & can’t admit it!

Received a Charge Notice. Problem - I’ve never been there! The ‘evidence’ showed an Audi ( I drive Vauxhall!) and a different registration number. The camera misread the number plate, even though I could see it was different. Tried to speak to a human being - apparently they only employ morons! Written appeal was successful, on the basis that my car had been ‘cloned’. They were not prepared to admit they got it wrong!

Appalling Customer Service

We have an automate charge account and all our family cars are on there. We bought a new car and completely forgot to change the personal vehicle reg to the new car a very honest mistake. Received a PCN in May I called them ,Very unhelpful and quite frankly rude. I explained the registration is listed but on the wrong car. I challenged the PCN this morning October we receive a dart certificate asking for £107.50 for each of the two crossings. No opportunity to pay the lesser amount no communication to say they rejected our appeal nothing. Shocking communication, and threats with a court order should we not pay. The charge is disproportionate and day light robbery.

Frustrating Experience with Dart Charge!!!!!

I recently had a very disappointing experience with Dart Charge that I feel compelled to share. I have an account that is supposed to automatically charge my card whenever I cross, so I was shocked to receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) for not paying my crossing.

After calling Dart Charge on May 17, 2024, I learned that my account was dormant, which I had no prior knowledge of. The customer service representative assured me that the issue was resolved, but to my dismay, I later received additional charges dating back to May 5, 2024.

What frustrates me the most is the lack of communication. I never received any notification regarding my account's dormancy. If I had been informed, I would have quickly rectified the situation or made separate payments for the crossings. Instead, I am now left dealing with unexpected charges that I believe are unjust.

To add to my frustration, I am being penalized for something entirely out of my control. When I finally got through to customer service, I faced a frustrating cycle of transfers. Each time I explained my issue, I was told it wasn't the right department, and I was transferred again. Unfortunately, when I reached the correct department, they informed me that I needed to speak to the original department I had just contacted. This back-and-forth was incredibly time-consuming and unproductive.

Receiving letters threatening legal action has only added to my stress, especially since I have PTSD related to court situations. The anxiety of potentially being taken to court over a misunderstanding is unacceptable.

As of now, this issue is still ongoing and hasn’t yet been resolved, leaving me frustrated and feeling powerless. Overall, my experience with Dart Charge has been thoroughly disappointing, and I believe their customer service is severely lacking. I hope others can avoid the same predicament I faced.

Appalling System & Customer Service

Awful!! I have crossed twice in the last 2 months and on neither occasion was my account debited. When I rang I was told that the account will be debited at midnight the following day and to log in and check to see if I have a Penalty Charge or not - even though I have an account!

1star because there's no option for zero

1 star because there's no option for zero! We've had a Manual Top-up account since 2015. Always in credit before we travel, its always worked - until my wife topped up in March 2024. We've received two PCNs for crossings despite having an account with £15.95 in. After endless communications via email (definitely not ringing from Spain!) telling them to take the money from the account, its still not happened so our next crossings should be "interesting"! Staff have erroneously transferred our account to Auto top up and my wife's debit card is now being held to ransom - and in an email today they're demanding we update the card or they will terminate the account for no good reason!! Another Post Office debacle!!
