Fraud-like behavior and aggressive tactics – avoid this company
On Friday, April 4th, 2025, a man identifying himself as the owner of “Daktechniek Garant” rang my doorbell offering to clean my gutters and windows (front and back) for €25, payable by card. I agreed, and he scheduled the service for Monday morning.
On Monday, April 7th, at around 10:45 AM, two workers showed up. Without asking, one of them climbed up onto my roof and began pulling up roof tiles. He claimed the tiles were “loose due to wind” and said water might leak into the wooden structure and walls, causing mold. He offered to “fix” it for €325.
I questioned whether this was really necessary and why none of my neighbors — with identical roofs — seemed to have the same problem. He didn’t answer and just sat on my roof without putting the tiles back or starting the gutter cleaning we had actually agreed on.
In a hurry for an important business meeting, I reluctantly offered €275, just to make them leave — though I had no idea what a fair price would be. I was never shown a breakdown of labor, materials, or duration. Around 10:48 AM, the second man handed up a roll of black material (maybe adhesive). By 10:57 AM, the rooftop worker came down and claimed everything was done.
Then came the cash demand: €300, no receipt, no documentation. When I said I didn’t have cash, they told me card payment was only possible with 21% VAT added, contradicting what the owner had said earlier. They told me to go to an ATM and that they would come back in 30 minutes.
As I went to withdraw the money, I started feeling something was wrong. I searched their name online and found many similar complaints. When I asked them to give me a proper invoice listing what work was done, what materials were used, what labor costs were charged — they refused. Instead, they accused me of trying to scam them and said they would wait at my door until I paid.
Their only “proof” of work? A short video showing the worker walking around on my roof, not doing any repairs — no before/after photos, no clear explanation, no demonstration of what was allegedly fixed.
I felt pressured and unsafe, so I had no choice but to call the police, who arrived shortly after. Only then did the workers finally leave.
After further research, I discovered this company has a pattern of:
Entering properties without proper consent
Performing rushed or unsolicited inspections
Demanding cash payments with no official documentation
Using vague “roof issues” to justify unclear charges
Refusing to provide invoices or cost transparency
⚠️ I strongly advise everyone to stay away from Daktechniek Garant.
Any legitimate company should:
Offer a clear written quote before doing any work
Provide a cost breakdown of labor, materials, and VAT
Issue a formal invoice or receipt
Never pressure customers with cash-only demands or vague threats
This experience was stressful, possibly fraudulent, and completely unacceptable.
