Awful customer service

Can take up to 3 weeks for cash to arrive after a trade. Disgraceful customer service, brilliant cash management by Computershare - no wonder the reviews are so bad

Never again

As Trustee for the estate of a deceased family member, who unfortunately had several separate investment accounts with Computershare, the delays, lack of customer service, painful process to speak to a live person, only using snail mail to correspond, and more, I cannot wait to be done with this company. On more than one occasion, submitted required paperwork to facilitate a transaction and waited 3-4 weeks before calling to check on the status. Then would be told "it's being issued today" then waiting another 3 - 4 weeks (per postmarks) for them to mail the check, or document. When you do finally get to speak with a person, they are very professional and calm, but don't seem to have any capability of doing something to help or expedite. I suspect these antiquated and sloth-like processes are Computershare's practice to retain as much float on our cash as possible.

I am extremely disappointed by my recent experience.

In my professional capacity in procurement, I work with Computershare as a client. While there have occasionally been operational inefficiencies or minor errors, there have never been any significant concerns.

However, as a shareholder who has only needed to contact Computershare twice in many years, this recent experience was deeply frustrating. It took several hours just to reach someone who properly understood the issue. After spending approximately seven hours attempting to resolve what should have been a straightforward matter, the issue remains unresolved due to what appears to be rigid processes and operational inefficiencies.

This experience has significantly impacted my confidence in the organisation. It has also caused me to reconsider Computershare as a potential supplier, as I am concerned about the level of value and service reliability they may provide to our customers.

Clumsy and out of date system

Whenever I buy new shares and company uses Computershare for share registration, I have to re-enter my tax file number, email and banking details etc.

Other registrar such as Automic applies my existing details for new shares.

I found most of the big companies using Computershare has been around for a long time and don't want to change.

I hope these large companies can review their share registry and choose a company which can move with times. So I don't have to re-enter the same information over and over again.

Don't forget the re-enter your details. I was a bit late to re-enter my details and only entered after dividend is paid.

Computershare charged me around $32 to reissue a cheque for the dividend although they didn't issue any cheques. My dividends were all paid by EFT. Computershare was very happy to reissue the cheque for $32. So Computershare makes money from this clumsy and out of date system too. No wonder they don't want to change because it may affect their income.

Absolute disaster of a company

Absolute disaster of a company. I sent them a sale document with share certificate and 'they never arrived'. I sent another, this time registered post, but they didn't like the form (the whole process is manual in my case). It says online the forms are available in the system but I searched and it wasn't anywhere obvious. Eventually I found you had to not be logged in to get at them. I sent new forms in the prepaid envelope they gave me, these 'were never received'. I am trying yet again. Meanwhile nearly three months have passed, good job I didn't need the funds quickly.

If I could give negative stars I would

If I could give negative stars I would

I have been calling for three straight weeks trying to speak to a real person. Typically I will be on hold for more than two hours a day. Every time I just end up being hung up on.

Every time I get through to a real person, they transfer me to another person. I will get transferred on average about 8 times before finally just being hung up on.

When I talk to a real person, they tell me I have called the wrong number. They give me other numbers and assure me it is the "correct" number to call, but it is not.

I have been told to call more than 5 different numbers, none of which work.

I finally got in touch with an actual real person who sent me to the equate plus website. He told me to log on with my email address (that he gave me) and User ID number (that he gave me), then hit "reset password," even when logging in for the first time. I did this. Then I received the following: "Sorry, we couldn't recognise the details you provided, please make sure your email address and other information you have entered are correct."
Since then, I have not been able to connect with anyone else who can help. I am wasting about 3 hours a day on hold and being passed around.

Shame on U S Bancorp for contracting with Computershare

This company is the most frustrating, red tape laden and unhelpful company I've ever dealt with, private or public. They have no consistent protocol for helping someone like myself who is new to their system, and trying to settle an estate. They have no orderly checklist; but do enjoy bringing up new, hidden requirements that require sending information by US Mail. I would fill out forms only to find out I needed to fill out another form or send a specific letter repeating the same information with specific words before they will process the last form they insisted I fill out. These delays or missed steps reset the clock on resolving the issues. What has taken literally months to conclude with Computershare only took one hour with another investment company (BNY Mellon who had stellar customer service) that handles their own account management. Any bank, which in my case is U S Bancorp, who uses this service to shield themselves from their customers deserves to go down in flames for the poorest customer service. I'd give Computershare a minus five stars rating if possible. And, I must give U S Bancorp minus five stars for contracting out their customer service with Computershare. Another update: I had to go to my attorney's office to get yet another Computershare form notarized and when I showed it to the legal secretary, she sighed, shook her head slowly side to side. "Computershare! They're the worst!"

Avoid Computershare

I would not give Computershare even one star if possible. Trying to close the last investment in an estate and twice the recommended paperwork is not correct.

They are the worst company I have been…

They are the worst company I have been associated with. Changing a beneficiary is a nightmare, and the people you talk to are not competent at all. Secondly, their tax forms are ALWAYS LATE YEAR AFTER YEAR AND THEY DO NOT CARE!! They are suppose to be out on the 31st Jan, then they post they will be out Feb. 2nd. It is not the 6th and NOTHING! They do not care!!

Chat does not work. You cannot speak with anyone. You cannot access your accounts. I receive several checks from Computershare. I want to sign up to have my dividend checks directly deposited to my checking account. It is not possible.

Failure to Honor Scheduled RSU

Computershare failed to make my restricted stock units (RSUs) available on their scheduled release date of February 1, 2026, as outlined under the terms of the plan. The shares were not available to transact on the release date, nor were they available the following business day (February 2, 2026).

When I contacted customer support to understand the delay, the representatives were unable to explain what was happening and escalated the issue to a supervisor. Unfortunately, the supervisor was also unable to provide any concrete information. The only response I received was that the shares would be released “as soon as administratively possible.”

When I asked for clarification, whether this meant a matter of days or potentially over a week, I was given the same vague response, with no timeline, explanation, or accountability. This is unacceptable for a financial services company handling people’s equity compensation.

A scheduled release date should mean exactly that. Failing to honor it, combined with an inability to explain the delay or provide even a rough timeframe, leaves clients stuck and unable to transact with shares they are fully entitled to under their plan. This lack of transparency and operational clarity raises serious concerns about internal processes and controls.

Computershare positions itself as a trusted administrator of equity compensation, but this experience fell far short of that standard. At minimum, clients deserve clear communication, reliable execution, and accountability - none of which were demonstrated here.

Horrible company to deal with

Horrible company to deal with, I wish there were negative stars to give them. It took from 12/3/25 to 1/23/26 to close out an account, I won’t bore you with the minuscule details of what I went through, let’s just say the process was beyond excruciating. Don’t ever have anything to do with them.

Executors beware

Executors beware. They have self imposed requirements you're unable to meet to transfer money. They do not care that your family member just died, they'll make this as difficult for you as they possibly can. I've been to 7 banks and been on the phone with them for a combined 22 hours and the only way to give them things is through mail. Archaic, antagonizing, and incompetent. Do not do this to yourself or your loved ones. There's a million better places to put your money. I cannot overstate how painful they've made this.
