No invoice after almost 2 months

I messaged support whether they could provide me with a business expense invoice. I provided them with the address and haven't heard back from them in almost 2 MONTHS. Even after multiple reminders.
Their courses aren't exactly cheap so I would expect better customers service.

Their player is garbage

Their player is garbage. I tried watching the same video on two different browsers, one in desktop and mobile mode. It said I tried to watch on more than three registered devices (same account, same phone) and wouldn't let me. Their support chat simply does not function. You only have the ability to select from predetermined "questions". there is no actual help or support for the issue I'm having. What's more is the course was almost $300

You might want to consider other services

The course description mentioned that advice from a professional would be provided, but in reality, responses to submitted questions took a long time to arrive. The lesson content also lacks clear explanations, making it difficult for beginners to learn effectively just by watching the videos.

While the videos are created by a well-known Korean illustrator, the instruction is not structured in a systematic way, which makes it challenging to practice and improve on your own.

World's worst video player

The video player you're forced to download to watch the courses is completely useless because they care more about stopping piracy than giving PAYING customers a good experience, that should tell you everything you need to know about this company.

False Advertising & Click Bait "Coupons", Constant Misleading Marketing, Lack of Content Standards

I'm honestly sick and disgusted with Coloso's relentless, abhorrent marketing tactics.

1. Firstly, by default, every single course you look at always shows a discounted price by default, for example right now the "Master Figure Drawing: Capturing Natural Anatomy from Every Angle" course shows the original price of USD 206.00 crossed out and "Up to 24% off" then in big, bold text" "USD 156.00".

On every other course platform I've ever seen, if they show discounted prices on the course page, that means the course IS discounted to that price... Not on Coloso.

If I click on checkout right now, the only option is a "class voucher" for $206 USD. When I go to checkout, sure enough, there are no coupons or any discounts available.

They show the discounted price in all of the ads that they plaster all over places like Instagram. This in itself is already very misleading.

2. They CONSTANTLY have these "events" such as, "100% CASHBACK" where they will have HUGE banners all over the website, tons and tons of ads where the massive text says "100% CASHBACK". Let's go to Coloso right now... a "100% cashback" event just ended a day or two ago, and right now there's another one. It says "Buy 3 get 1 free 100% Cashback!".

In my previous experience, the vast, vast majority of courses were NOT eligible for 100% cashback, and so when I purchased a course for around $175, I only got $100 cashback coupon.

BUT it gets much worse, because then - literally almost every single course I tried to use the coupon with, it was ineligible for use.

IN ADDITION TO THIS, in the same week there was a huge "6 YEAR ANNIVERSARY" event where you got a big pack of coupons, including a $100 coupon.

Well, guess what? Once again, literally almost every single course I looked at, ranging from "pre-sale" to courses several years old, the max discount I could get was $80.

3. In the same week as the 2 above events, I clicked on a course, titled "Mastering Action Scenes: Building a Standout Portfolio for the Animation Industry". I got a popup that said: "Do you want a 33% coupon for THIS class?" and I actually was quite excited - despite being completely misled so many times, I thought well in this case they are literally offering me a discount on the specific course page I am on, so it could not be any clearer.

However... after redeeming the coupon, I once again discovered it was ineligible to use on that class.

In my personal opinion, at a minimum all of these practices should colloquially be considered extremely misleading and absolutely false advertising. And based on my personal interpretation of laws and regulations in both the U.S. and South Korea where Coloso is based, this should be False Advertising from a legal framework perspective as well.

4. There seem to be no checks or standards on the course content on Coloso. Some courses are excellent, and then I literally took a course that promised so much and ended up being a sped up screen recording of the artist doing random work while talking over the top, sometimes related, oftentimes not related at all. It was extremely confusing, hard to watch, the laziest possible execution of making a course, and didn't at all deliver all the promises of all the big-time marketing they do constantly for that specific course.

5. The customer support is terrible. It's been weeks already of trying to complain about several of these issues and they take SO LONG to reply, always delay, and so far all I've gotten are copy & pasted excuses with zero empathy or human kindness/understanding.

Clickbait coupons

Clickbait coupons
Firstly the content inside Coloso is REALLY good! I am not complaining about the classes, since I've bought from them before and never had an issue with the inbuilt player as of 2024 they improved a lot with the features in order to be able to watch the classes you purchased. I am giving the website a 1 star because of the amount of dishonest emails they keep sending out to people. These coupons they keep spamming via email are an ABSOLUTE JOKE! They don't even give that much discount- stop making clickbait titles claiming you'd be able to save alot of $$ if you use the supposed coupons.

I am getting so sick and tired of them doing this type of stupid gimmick. You don't save money at all, you'll still be paying in the high $180USD per class, stop false advertising claiming you can saving more then hundreds of dollars off the site even though you only always keep a set amount to save on each class.

Please stop with the stupid clickbait coupon advertising it's really off putting.

The customer support is horrible

The customer support is horrible. When you go into their chat, it all automated saying they will email you to back to you because everyone is busy. 8 hours later they email you with a chat link that if your not glued to your email, they close within 2 minutes. Then you have to restart a chat. Its a run around. I tried emailing and they sent me a chat link that was closed. So I guess, just pray that you don't have a problem cause it won't get resolved.

Good courses, awful video player

October 2024 update:

Coloso has changed video player technology. No longer do they require the use of a 3rd party app, and no longer do i experience constant disconnects. As it currently stands, the content is fully watchable without issues for me, and as promised, I updated my rating to reflect this.

Initial January 2024 review:

Good courses, awful delivery.

Coloso has plenty of good content to show, but lacks the technology to do so. Their video player is the biggest pile of junk ever inflicted unto a customer. It invades your privacy, scanning your computer for apps and even forcefuly shutting them down if it doesn't like them. It keeps disconnecting due to "unstable connection" which they try to blame on the viewer instead of their subpar app.

Customer Support is, as usual, completly unhelpful. They answer in the middle of the night (timezones oblige) with copy-pasted 1 liners without even reading what the ticket is about, then close the topic after an hour knowing full well that the customer isn't on the line since said ticket has been lingering for 3 days. Try to open a new ticket, mentioning you did what was suggested in the previous ticket's one line answer, and get greeted with the same one liner, and another unresolved problem yet closed ticket.

When spending $150-$350 on a course, you'd expect better service. I'll update my rating if they ever improve their video player but they don't seem to care one bit about international customers.

Awful player and customer experience

The courses are great but the player is garbage. It keeps crashing and telling that my internet is unstable, which is ot the case. Even a change to public dns won't help. Their player is unreliable and it's a pain to watch the courses. They don't care about you as a customer.

Amazing content they require a external player called kollus player to see the videos and work perfectly. This is to avoid piracy and illegal recording and sharing. And it work fine, u have to change dns to public ones if u are not an apple user which is cool, I don’t have anything to hide. I’m not a pay reviewer. Is the most amazing place to study art from the art gods. I really hope they translate more classes from their korean website and improve more their support. I love coloso and their content as well their policy to keep your classes for life. Keep it up 👍

Bad website and bad support

As other people mentioned, their video player is unstable and often won't work at all, so you cannot follow your classes. Most of their courses are 100+ dollars, yet they don't have a working player. I've wasted hundreds of dollars on their site for courses I have given up on because they won't play at all. Their support is also unresponsive and give you automated 1 liners. They don't seem to care at all about providing a solution. They spend all their money on marketing, but none on customer support. Don't buy from them!
